Looking for a PXE server similar to Serva but open source / free

Looking for a solution like Serva, where I can PXE boot to a menu of OSs to install (install, not deploy from images). Need to be able to do various Windows installs (7, 8.1, 10, 2016, 2019, 2022), Linux installs would be really awesome too, and if it could boot to another image such as a PXE...

.htaccess file redirecting http://www.domain.com to https://domain.com

So, I know virtually noting about the .htacess file other than some very basic ideas of what it is used for. Mine is huge (142 lines), I think primarily for the WordPress cache plugin I use, which makes it all that more confusing. But I digress. My current site will redirect...

Using two routers, not the way you think....

Easiest for me would just be to get a V4 TP link. Bulletproof, easy to set up and very fast. Not a fan of Mikrotik (got 10-15 of them laying around I have yanked and replaced from client sites already), Ubiquity is nice but a tad over the top for what I need, not to mention still doesn't work...

Using two routers, not the way you think....

Yes, I have a V2, the V4 has both OpenVPN and PPTP built in. I may just upgrade the router although I still wont get the IPSec VPN that I wanted in the business grade TP Link router.

Yup, that makes sense. I just hadn't thought that far through. Kinda stinks, but oh well. Thanks for the push in the right direction, much appreciated.

Using two routers, not the way you think....

Then it sounds like the DMZ would be perfect, keeps me from having to open/forward ports to a device that will just run the VPN. No, the C7 does not have VPN built in.

Using two routers, not the way you think....

So I have this TP link business class router I really like, but unfortunately it is too slow (my internet connection is 400Mbps and the TP link business router wont quite hit 300). I also have this TP link home router (archer c7) which does the speed just fine, but does not provide VPN (I really...

    Remote downloading? VPN? Proxy?

Unless I am missing something that really doesn't do what I am thinking. Sure I can remote in and download the file to a machine at the office, then turn around and download it again to my machine at home. I was hoping for something a little simpler such as point my machine through a proxy or...

    Remote downloading? VPN? Proxy?

For reasons that are my own :-) I would like to be able to download files from one of my home computers but have the traffic go through my office internet connection. I have thought of a lot of ways to do this but am unsure of which might be the best or most elegant solution. Ideally the...

Lots of computer equipment and MISC for **TRADE**

I have a lot of hard drives and other things I would like to trade for your used electronic/computer gear. Almost everything has been tested and wiped. Hard drives were tested with at least one full pass of Ultra-X 5.8's thorough hard drive test with no errors. I am also willing to do multiple...

Fired For Calling Out Non-Tipping Customer On Twitter

I am most server's worst nightmare (and yes, I have worked in food service, started as the dish washer). On a scale from 1-10 with 1 the worst and 10 the best, a 1 or 10 and I will ask for the manager and tell them what a crappy/excellent job you are doing respectively. Anything in between is...

    GameStop Exploiting Devs And Consumers

Sorry, I just think this is nuts. What other industries get cuts of used sales? Cars? Homes? Movies? Books? Misc items in pawn shops? Should Dell get a cut when you resell your used computer? You drink a Coke, then pee and flush. That liquid is recycled at your local water treatment plant and...

Have you gone from 4gb to 8gb?

8gb was so very last year. 16gb now and would be more but my current board maxes out at 16gb, time for another upgrade! I have a dual monitor setup and normally have lightroom 3 and photoshop cs5 open, as well as outlook, work, itunes, and IE. Add to that I sometimes work with really large...

    Win 7 + BD player + Nvidia 8200 = all I need for playback?

The motherboard looks OK, Win7 doesnt matter, should work just as well as Vista or XP, the TV I would assume would be just fine, my only question is I do not think WMP12 will naively play BDs, you may need third party software (much like XP playing DVDs needed). Allan

How many backup their Blu Rays?

What, the blind and the deaf? Most of the people I have met who did not "like" blu-ray were just not willing to spend the cash. I have never actually met someone who saw and heard what blu-ray can do and said, "nah". I have however met several who saw crummy displays in stores, read a bunch of...

    Justifying a PS3 purchase.

Why am I always the naysayer? :-) I personally have never liked the PS3. Without jumping through hoops etc, here are some of my problems with it: 1) Too much fan noise during movie playback 2) Not compatible with my universal remote 3) No 5.1 analog out 4) Just doesn't look right with all my...

    Win 7 + BD player + Nvidia 8200 = all I need for playback?

You will need to make sure the HDCP chain is working. That chain includes the drive, playback software, video card, video cable and monitor. I mention cable because you will need to be using HDMI. Everything in that chain must be HCDP compliant. Allan

How can I find out how much power I will need?

Hornet, always better to overbuy than underbuy. Overtaxing a PS can take out other components as well so ALWAYS buy more than you need. Allan

not very happy with Western Digital at the moment

Ditto! I have had entire shelves of Emachines with blown power supplies that took out motherboards etc. They use the cheapest components known to man, and mistreat the components badly. What exactly do you expect for the price they ask? Rule #1: You get what you pay for. As for the hard...

    In Defense of Vista

OK, here is how it boils down for me: 1) The OS must allow me to quickly and efficiently complete any/all tasks I need for work. 2) The OS must allow me to quickly and efficiently complete any/all tasks I want for play. 3) Any OS that improves the above two qualifications gets installed...

And I think those look like the tired and dated themes I was using with Object Desktop in the Windows 98 days, lame. But to each their own. You are serious aren't you? I have a Ubuntu installation right beside me, and it did not have drivers for my TV tuner card (7 did), refused to do both...

then you REALLY need to look around. Try installing just Windows with absolutely no features at all, it is much smaller. Perfect example of what I am talking about, I like Aero, you do not, both are included, this takes lots of code, yet more "bloat" as you call it. Surely you do not...

And you ASSume that all that CPU and hard drive activity was due to superfetch? You mean none of it was your antivirus? None of it was trying desperately to defrag a partition that was too small? In Defense of Vista

I will have to go check and see where all I read it but you are correct in that I have never heard anything about them throwing it out or redoing it from scratch. From what I read the priority was indeed lowered along with streamlining the data fetch routines to return less information. The net...
