I went the same direction. Just wanted to add you can often find good deals via Amazon Warehouse. I picked my Odyssey up that way 2 weeks ago for $327.

    WTB (US) - 1080Ti

Picked up a VR headset and looking for something to help step up my GPU game and swap out with my 1060 3GB card. If you happen to be in the Chicago area (city or north / west burbs) let me know and we can probably work out a local exchange to avoid shipping.

    Current 43" 4K options?

Yep, I think it's probably very close to full sRGB, moreso than my tests report. You can see where my test reports 72.92% dci-p3 coverage, I think rtings had 75 or 76%.. they use a $7,000 device with pro-level software that costs quite a bit. I use a $150 consumer calibration device with free...

    Current 43" 4K options?

49" VA is much brighter.. I don't have them setup side by side, but I found 12 to be comfortable on the 43" IPS, and the 49" VA equivalent would be an 8. I'm ~ 2ft away in a very dark room. Text really isn't fuzzy at all, it's really not much of a difference as far as font smoothing goes, at...

    36" to 44" 4K Roundup

I’m really digging this MU6500. VA + curve is (at least for my uses) muuuuch nicer than the IPS 43MU6300, in both Windows 10 and OS X. Though unless something weird is going on at Samsung, the 40 MU6300 should be pretty much the same as the 49 MU6500, so kdawgs body of research on the 40/43...

    Current 43" 4K options?

Got the 49" MU6500. I much prefer this VA panel over the 43 MU6300. Blacks are so much darker. It was a PITA to calibrate, the SpyderPro software had no clue what was going on, but DisplayCal sorted it out after 45 minutes of chugging along. It's big, but not gigantic, the curve helps a bit with...

No, definitely not. Just read the reviews on the ghosting / burn-in on the Dell.

Using Samsung 4k TV as Gaming Monitor @60hz...

There are lots of variations on the cards between manufacturers, but my GTX 980 (non Ti) predates yours, and supports 4K @60Hz. I would still suspect the cable, but you may want to double check the specs on that particular video card.. it would surprise me though if it didn't support HDMI 2.0...

    Current 43" 4K options?

FWIW, if someone else using a mac comes across this a million years from now.. the Accel DP 1.2 -> HDMI 2.0 adapter worked to get me the 4k 60hz on the MU6300 with High Sierra.

    BestBuy 40" Samsung 4K $299.99

It would be a variant of the MU6100, not MU6300. Not sure if that's better or worse (or the same) for your needs, just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting! :) Edit - Actually you may be correct. I see rtings mentions a mU6070 in Canada as being a MU6300 variant, no mention of it...

Torn between an IPS and a VA 4k TV for a monitor.

YES! Brown tint.. definitely! I remember thinking shiny brown when looking at some photo editing apps and their UI (which should be a rather flat, dark grey).. I'm wondering if viewing distance and the resulting angles are causing this.. Since I'm much closer up than one normally is to a TV of...

    WTB - i7 2600k

Looking to upgrade an older system running an i3 3225 with something that has a bit more performance. Would prefer to pick it up here as opposed to eBay if I can. Would be open to a 3770k as well, but those are a bit pricey. Looking for more in the low $100-ish range. I'm in Chicago if anyone...

Torn between an IPS and a VA 4k TV for a monitor.

Thanks, will check with the HDMI specific black-levels and see what happens. I do a lot of photo editing, and the tools I use (Photoshop and Capture One, in particular) have dark grey backgrounds, and the best way to describe it is like a 'shiny' grey.. it's not like the flat grey color I...

Torn between an IPS and a VA 4k TV for a monitor.

I've got the 43 MU600 on my desk now, and using it as a monitor with OS X (High Sierra, GTX 980 with Nvidia web driver). Probably not your case, but I mention it as I can't get 60hz over HDMI, and I also can't seem to use it as a single display @ 30hz. No source is found until I plug in my...

    Current 43" 4K options?

Don't think anyone here is looking, but just a heads up that the 43" MU6300 is on sale at Amazon for $365.49 (actually cheaper than the 40"). Looks like they were trying to out-price Target, who had a 15% off TV sale today which brought their price on the 43" to $365.50. You could also order it...

    LG 43UD79 Information?

Thanks man! I'd appreciate it. Definitely trying to take advantage of the Black Friday sales, just don't want to hit one of those 'oh crap, didn't think about that when using a TV as a monitor' kind of scenarios if I can avoid it.

    LG 43UD79 Information?

Please do weigh in.. I'm going back and forth between this LG, and two Samsungs (43" IPS and 49" VA curved). Strangely enough the Samsung 43" IPS (MU6300) is the only option of those three, including the LG monitor, that has an RBG sub-pixel layout, which I was hoping to have in a new 'monitor'...

    Current 43" 4K options?

Thank you! I think I've decided to evaluate both the 43MU6300 and the 49MU6500. Will order them both so that I can return one locally. I imagine I'll end up keeping the 43MU6300 but need to give that curved 49 a shot just to make sure. :)

and if I could piggy-back on that.. what was your experience with the 40"+ 4K TV's? I started off looking at the LG but have now switched to thinking the TV might be the way to go. Would love to hear about your experience with the 40"+ 4K TV's.

    Current 43" 4K options?

Thanks so much, very useful! Stupid question time.. wouldn't inverted BGR = RGB? Or does inverted have to do with how the pixels activate as opposed to physical layout? Really I'm down to 3 panels at this point.. the IPS 43" MU6300 (seems the consensus is that it's RGB), the 49" MU6500, and the...

Found this here.. - http://forums.hdtvtest.co.uk/index.php?topic=9499.0 This seems to indicate the Sony XE800D/E might actually be an RGB sub-pixel panel.. XE8004 I guess is the UK version of the XE800(D/E)? Shepard or someone with the Sony, would you mind checking out the subpixel test on...

    Current 43" 4K options?

For those of you running the larger panels (49-50), how far (lifted) off your desk is it (and are you using the stand it came with), and what's your viewing distance? Can you get the whole panel in your field of view or do you look up/down or side to side often? Right my 34" ultrawide is 7"...

    Current 43" 4K options?

Would you consider going to back to a curved 49? Was looking at the MU7600/6500 as an option. 7600 seems better gamut wise, but 6500 is IPS... Lag seems solid. Wondering though what you think about the size difference. 40-43 seems more manageable than 49, not sure how the curve changes things...

    Current 43" 4K options?

Thanks so much! OS X is a bit wonky with it's font smoothing, there isn't a clear type equivalent.. it's RGB or turn off font smoothing or live with the mess. Would like to avoid mounting upside down, so will look into the 43MU600. If I went VA over IPS would that improve options at all? Never...

    Current 43" 4K options?

    Hey all.. just jumping in the middle here.. 2x24" (1920x1080 + 1 27" (2560x1440) - Gaming / Eyefinity

Thanks everyone for the feedback! :) Sounds like it's worth a shot.. My main usage for the PC is non-gaming (~80% of the time) so the extra real estate would be great with the higher res 27". As far as mixing monitor sizes and eyefinity, I was going off of this thread, which really doesn't...
