Hey Intel, time to listen the fuck up. Produce this:
5x5 motherboard (smaller than ITX) Intel introduces its smallest socketed form factor yet: the 5×5
Angled PCIe x16 slot
usb 3.1 only
no bullshit old skool vga/ps2 ports
1 USB Type C in the front only or nothing, IMO. You could even put the power button on the back. Rebooting every morning belongs to the 1990's.
In a few years every external drive will have 802.11ac or something built in. Cables are dying.
I don't even use external drives when I think about...
Just bought a cheap 4670k used and put it in my L2 v2 (side panel without vents)
It gets crazy toasty. But my CPU cooler isn't the best out there, either. Cheapo Artic Alpine 11GT.
By undervolting it I've managed to keep it at 85c at load.
I have two Noctua fans sucking air in through...
Officially, yeah. As I mentioned, Dan's test show that HD-PLEX 250W and a 330-350W rated brick delivers 400W.
Something like this maybe? http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=332-1432
Otherwise you would have to find Dondan's test and see which one he used.
How tall is a pci slot anyway? I don't see any compromises other than the psu being moved something like 1cm away from the motherboard. On most of these designs here the psu width is not what determines the lower limit for the case width?
I really like the looks and the layout of the "2c" case you just posted. I actually prefer the flat look more, I do not really see a reason to add angles unless you gain some functional advantage from it.
I'm a bit sad it looks like it does not fit ATX, as I thought that idea had some...
The idea of allowing the case to fit an ATX board is very interesting, it doesn't matter if the bottom slots are not actually usable. It would make the case more flexible without sacrificing height. It would just be an mATX case that also fits ATX boards.
I also hope that you ditch the 5.25"...
There is already a large amount of mATX cases in the 23-30L range. Might as well try to make the smallest ATX case instead. This is what the market is missing currently, anyway. A 6cm height difference is nothing really.
Unfortunately even the ML08 design looks too busy/crowded to me.
In my opinion there is too much unnecessary detailing on the exterior.
Please consider just having a flat, plain aluminium front, and leave out the plastic venting on the side.
Unfortunately I will have no...
They could probably fit the Fury on a low profile PCB because of HBM, and it could probably be adequately cooled if clocked low enough.
But there is no way AMD is going to create such a niche card when they could put the same chip on a larger PCB and charge a much higher price for it.
The GTX 950 seems to be nearing release. But no word of a low profile version yet. It will require a single 6 pin power connector, just like the GTX 960.... Might this indicate that there won't be a low profile version?
Here's a new case with a type-c connector:
There must be an internal connector for it? But I guess it depends on whether Lian Li can do it for Dondan...
So I'm also a bit in doubt about about the front USB connector. When Dondan started the project, it was before the 3.0 connector. But now it's here... I'm just thinking that if I'm getting a case I want to keep for 5+ years, I'd prefer if it was future proof and included a 3.0 connector instead...
There seems to be a lot of unused vertical space inside the case. How hard would it be to fit a ATX motherboard inside? I would get a mATX board, but it seems quite difficult to get a 1155 mobo these days.
I'm seriously considering giving it a try once the case becomes available in Europe...
