    Hellgate: London DX10 vs. DX9 Gaming Experience @ [H]

Good article. I'm kind of surprised Hellgate crashed when you turned on AA. But the description of it sounds like a bug I was having. I had been running fraps, and closing that fixed it right up and let the game play. Something you might want to try. I won't help you capture the stats on...

Rogue Galaxy, WOW... Just WOW.... AMAZING RPG!

It's ok. It became too much of a blatant grind for my taste. I gave up shortly after the point you are at. Playing through the Legacy of Kain series again currently. 10-15 hour games ftw.

My realization of how much a drug WoW actually is.

The difference is, if you get dumped/break off a relationship/get fired/are other devastated, can you get wasted with your online friends and blow off the steam? Real life, physical hijinks cannot be substituted for slaying dragons or whatever your MMO drug of choice is. Worse yet, you lose...

My realization of how much a drug WoW actually is.

Oh WoW. I'd dabbled in MMOs before. Played EverQuest for a month or so. Ragnarok Online a little bit. Ultima Online for a free month, because Ultima 9 sucked so hard I got it free when they shipped out the patched install CD. I even dicked around in FFXI for depressingly long but the...

    Favorite game you never beat?

Lets see, lately at least: Final Fantasy III DS, I probably should go back and polish this off, I was at the end. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, uh, should probably go back to this too... Final Fantasy X-2, stopped caring. Never going back. Vagrant Story, kind of want to go back, but not...

Well MMO's are about the only PC RPGs made these days. It's understandable.

Best Game Someone Dumped On You

A friend of mine back in elementary school hooked me up with a copy of Doom 2. I must have played that, and about a million user mods, for almost 3 or 4 years.

    Enchanted Arms (comments please) (X360)

It's ok. I liked it at the time, and the battles had a slight strategic aspect to them with the limited movement grid to keep them from being too much of a grind. That and you could auto-fight if it was blatantly obvious you'll win. After playing FFXII I doubt I'd enjoy the game as much as I...

"We screwed up Duke Nukem Forever"

It's a difficult problem. I mean, books and movie can retain their value rather well. Once a book is paperback, it will alway sell for about $10, the used price is based more on the age of the book as opposed to when it was originally written. New copies of Dune, for example, are still being...

Lost Planet End Boss Is Making Me Right Irritated

This fight frustrated me to no end as well. I was only playing on Normal and I still found it maddening. Those lasers he gets towards the end would just rape me, and I simply could not dodge them forever. Eventually what I'd do is dance in and out of his maximum range hitting him with the...

Titan Quest Immortal Throne is out!

I hear this game had a soft release date. Some stores did have it as much as a week ago. Tuesday was when everyone should have it.

    Supreme Commander Thread!

So far I'm loving this game. But wow is the gameplay complex. The interface is a bit wacky too. Putting a refueling station along the patrol path of aircraft will allow them to refuel at will. Tell factories to assist a main factory will take items off its build queue and send them to a...

Whats the worst game Dev and Game Publisher (Poll)

EA for the past 10 years. They've driven Need for Speed into the ground with repetitive yearly installments and their insistence on using rubber banding AI. I never play sports games, but I hear how all the "next gen" versions have all kinds of options from the last gen actually gutted out...

Sacrifice - One of the most underrated PC games?

Oh man I loved this game. I guess it was in 1999/2000? That seemed to be the year all sorts of amazingly creative games came out. No One Lives Forever, Giants Citizen Kabuto, Sacrifice, Planescape Torment, the list goes on and on. Best year in gaming I can remember.

    Quake 4 settings won't stick!

Sounds like the config file got write protected. Find it, and turn off write protection. I've had that happen in a few games before.

    GameStop and their policies

I haven't had a huge problem with opened "new games", although I've gotten more than a few used games that didn't work at all, and then they tried to say I actually had a broken PS2 and hassled me about exchanging it. Once I ended up with a demo disc for Drakengard when I got a used copy. I...

whats up with your ds lately?

PM me for my FFIII friend code after I get home from work. As for Phoenix Wright, I beat Ace Attorney, and so far Justice for All is good, only beat the first case. Basically the game plays out similarly to an old Sierra adventure game. You'll browse through crime scenes, collect evidence...

Lots of Final Fantasy III DS. I find myself idly grinding up jobs while watching reruns of Law & Order. Multitasking FTW!

    Carmack On 360 / PS3

I'm sorry, the 360 has 3 cores with 2 threads each (6 threads total). The PS3 has 1 main core, and 6 cores with limited capabilities (7 threads total, sort of).

    Carmack On 360 / PS3

To be fair, the Cell's use of multicore is a mess for programmers. The 360 has 6 cores, that are all identical, with full path prediction, access to the main memory, a full instruction set, etc. The Cell has one of these cores, and 7 smaller cores with access to only a small local cache of...

    Games Underrated By Critics

Exact same thing here. It was the best movie I ever played. Or maybe the best game I ever watched. Or the worst game I ever played. Or the worst movie I ever watched.

    What was your First Console?

Oh man, I still vaguely remember my first console. At this time the NES was $99, and I'd beg my parents for one every time we visited the toy store, but $100 was way too much for a toy to them. My parents were very cost conscious, frugal people. And then, my grandmother who always liked to...

I think perhaps a 5-10 minute time limit, or the first level or two as a demo would be better that dropping the price. I mean, a lot of these games at their current price only appeal to people who played them and loved them when they originally came out. I think people would feel more secure...

Well, I just purchased and played Zelda last night. Looked fine by my eyes, but then again it's been over 10 years since I last played it. I mean it definitely looked 8-bit, but no worse for wear due to just being on an HDTV. Same thing goes for when me and my friends played Bomberman over...

    Getting sick of it.

About the only games worth playing on the PC these days are strategy games. FPS is burnt out, and focuses too much on graphics. RPG is nothing but MMO's now, with very few notable exceptions, and most of those are abortive attempts riddled with bugs (Bloodlines, Gothic 3, Kotor2). Action RPGs...

Has anyone received their replacement Wii straps?

I finally got mine. I ordered 4 but got 3. Then again I only have 2 wiimotes :p They definitely feel a lot beefier than the old straps. I'm trying to find some sort of creative use for the old straps.

Couple Gifts from Sony and Nintendo...Where is MS?

Mehrune's Razor for Oblivion is a free download this week. I guess that doesn't apply for everyone, and could probably be seen as little more than an advertisement for Oblivion, but hey, it's a gift! I went ahead and downloaded it even though I don't play Oblivion anymore. I mean why not?

    Red Steel- fun?

I donno, there are something like 14 missions and they each take between 20 and 40 minutes. So I guess it will take you somewhere between 7 and 10 hours? It's not a terribly long game, about the usual FPS length.
  31. N

    Red Steel- fun?

It's alright. It has its moments. It's definitely a good rent. You don't get to the good stuff until about a third of the way through the game though (bullet time & sword combos/specials).

    PS3 a Failure?

Yeah, because everyone who says anything bad about the PS3 is clearly in Microsoft's pocket. Everyone knows that Sony is an upstanding company and would never resort to those sorts of tactics personally. Oh wait. Perhaps the Sony backlash is a bit overblown. I'm sure in a few years...

    PS3 a Failure?

Yeah, awesome if you want to the PS3 killing your children in their sleep. I guess it could have been worse. It could have just been an add saying "Ken Kutaragi will make you his bitch"

    PS3 a Failure?

What, baby dolls that talk in tongues and cry blood, and executives that talk about you as though you were a retarded sheep don't make you want to buy a PS3?

Are you satisfied with your Wii?

I got the Wii on launch day and I've loved it. Sports is great fun if you are trying to play with people who aren't gamers. Zelda was amazing. Red Steel was pretty meh. It had its moments, but difficulty spikes and sword fights which exceeded the ability of the controls to react really...

    wii durability

The guy could be planning on taking the Wii to friend's houses a lot. I mean it is more of a party system, and designed to be small and easily carried. Sure seems like it would be a hassle to set up though, especially if you used the sticky pads to attach it to your TV like I did.

    Quick Question About the Wii

Yes they will. GC controllers can be used for GC games as well as most VC titles. That being said, they are hardly optimal for VC titles that might require more complex use of their buttons. I don't think any have been released so far, but let me tell you, playing Megaman X with the GC...

New Wii Poll (have you got one yet)

Managed to get mine at the Walmart midnight release. Waited 6 hours for it, but it was well worth it. Met some old friends I didn't expect to be there too, which was nice.

How will Nintendo keep up in the portable market?

ORLY? Most DS games are about $30, AAA titles might go for $35, and I've never seen one for $40. PSP games tend to start at $40 and get as high as $50 easily. The medium for the DS might be more expensive, but you'd never know it from the game prices.
