General Question about ping times/latency + Distances

Geographically you're really not that far away from either server to see a real latency difference. Comcast might have a more direct route to the servers in Chicago then the ones in Detroit. Even though you're physically closer to the ones in Detroit doesn't mean the routes to reach them are...

Bought a SAN for cheap now what the hell do I do?

I loaded up Freenas and installed it on one of the drives. I was able to logon from another host in my network and add drives and everything. When I rebooted freenas it didn't load into freenas like it should have. It just sat there with a blinking cursur. My boot options were to boot from my...

Bought a SAN for cheap now what the hell do I do?

I really appreciate all the help guys, but what should I do? Install something like OpenFiler/FreeNas or get the SAN management tools. Also, ColdZero, you say not to make it a dynamic volume; does that mean I wont be able to stream movies/music off of it? Thanks

Bought a SAN for cheap now what the hell do I do?

Do you mean the card in the back with the 2 big cylinders above the ram slots? Or the 2 IDE slots right below the 4 sata cables?

    RIP and whatnot

Make sure the Ethernet cable that connects both routers is a crossover cable. Also, you shouldn't need a routing protocol enabled if you have two routers directly connected to each other.

    CCENT exam

Without giving too much away, be ready to subnet on questions that don't openly ask for it. Subnetting could be only part of the answer that needs to be worked out. Think word problems.

    CCENT exam

Yep everything I mentioned was on my CCENT test. For study material I recommend SYBEX CCENT book by TOdd Lammle. That book had everything I needed except the in depth frame relay stuff. Lammle only mentions alittle about frame relay in the book but, the test expects you to know DLCI's, and...

    CCENT exam

I took it over a month ago after studying intensely for 3 weeks 1-2 hours a day---got a 902/1000, minimum passing score of 804 is needed. I will say make sure you know the path of a frame from 1 hop to another and how the MAC/IP addresses get used on each hop. Out of 40 questions I also...

    Some career advice?

Cisco made the new CCNA a two parter certification for a reason. The CCENT(the 1st half of CCNA) is not that hard. Really the only thing that is remotely hard in CCENT is getting subnetting down. The rest is pretty much committing alot of terms and concepts to memory. I have no real...

    Some career advice?

If you are sure you want to get the CCNA, then forget the Network+. CCENT/CCNA totally trump the network+ in every way possible. Network+ would almost be a waste of money IMO. A better route in my opinion would be: A+---CCENT(ICND1)----CCNA(ICND2)----then whatever grabs your fancy (Security...
