What is so special about Macbooks?

Either way. She's been doing this work for years at other employers. She knew what she needed. So it is just a matter of time until we get her work laptop in.

What is so special about Macbooks?

Found more info about our new employee. She does work on databases and number crunching. It uses an M1 Max chip and has 64GB RAM. Did some more reading on the chip. Sounds like an excellent fit.

What is so special about Macbooks?

Years ago, I remember hearing that Macs excelled as a CGI/CGA workstation. Do they still have an edge over PC?

What is so special about Macbooks?

Macs have always been off my list. Not for price, adapting to a new OS, or gaming options. It's just that ever since I assembled my first PC (Pentium 100). The assembly and customization is a thrill for me. Can't do that with any Apple product

What is so special about Macbooks?

We recently hired a person who uses a Macbook Pro. And has been using Apple products since the late '90s. So we purchased a Macbook Pro for him for business use back in February. $$$$. Supposed to arrive this month, but we got a notice that it's on backorder till June. Why are Macbooks so...

Will you upgrade to the S22 ultra?

I did. All upfront too. A trade-in of my wife's Galaxy S10 allowed us to get it $400 off. And it was not just for the specs. The S22 and S22+ had a smaller screen size than my previous LG V30

    Far Cry 5

While playing earlier today, I was keeping a closer eye on everything and it really lit up. The CPU cooling block, radiator, case /w fans, memory, and keyboard all support iCue

It may have. Not sure. The keyboard is below my field of view. The PC is adjacent to the monitor

    Far Cry 5

Just made an interesting discovery with Far Cry 5. It works with Corsair iCue. I noticed that whenever I finished a quest, the pattern on my memory, fans, and CPU cooler would flash in a red, white, and blue pattern. Then it would go back to normal

Remember when stores had shelves like this

I used to play Starflight all the time. I see it as the precursor to Star Control 2. Which, IMO, is the greatest PC game of all time

Remember when stores had shelves like this

Remember how some games used those manuals as security? Page, paragraph, line, word. Doing that every time I loaded the game was annoying. The last game I remember playing that used that method was Railroad Tycoon. Another was Elite Plus

Remember when stores had shelves like this

For a few years, I insisted on physical copies because I was so fixed on having a physical copy so that they cannot cut me off from what I purchased. But I gave in when I no longer had a choice.

Remember when stores had shelves like this

It was inevitable. If not Steam, some other company would do the same thing. Less packaging means less cost and less trash. PDF manuals (if any). And of course, higher bandwidth allowing easy downloading meant no space to be occupied in a store. But also think about all the indie games...

Remember when stores had shelves like this

Remember the days of boxed PC games. A shelf like this would wrap around an entire GameStop, Electronics Botique, or Babbages. Best Buy, CompUSA, Incredible Universe, and Fry's would have large areas of their stores dedicated to boxed PC games and apps. Nowadays you'd be lucky to find the...

    Raster CRT vs Vector CRT

Ever play the arcade games Tempest or Starwars from the early '80s? I did. Ever wonder about cathode-ray tube (CRT) technology from back then? Raster CRTs are what we are all used to. But there is another which few people are familiar with, Vector CRT. This video from the Slow Mo Guys shows...

What is your favorite Grand Theft Auto edition?

Ther is already a mod on Nexusmods to restore songs removed from San Andreas. So it is probably just a matter of time before someone makes a mod to allow custom music listings. Either way, missing music or music features does not kill the game for me.

What is your favorite Grand Theft Auto edition?

if so, there is always making my custom music list with the same songs. I have even seen clips on youtube of the advertisements on the radio from each GTA. I also just found an article about it. GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition radio stations are missing over 20 songs. The two Michael Jackson...

What is your favorite Grand Theft Auto edition?

Just found out about the GTA Trilogy DE and bought it today. Saw numerous other threads about it but none with a poll While I have played them all, VC has always been my favorite. Partially because of the soundtrack. Every time I hear the song I Ran by Flock of Seagulls, this video comes to mind

    The Intel 4004 turns 50

50 years ago, Intel introduced the world to the first microprocessor, the Intel 4004. The grandfather of CPUs started the computer revolution and led the way to the digital world we know today. Without it we could still be playing board games, creating all those documents and spreadsheets by...

    Burn-in all the time

Strange situation here. The new system I put together, freezes once every few hours when being used casually (nothing in the event viewer). But when gaming, video encoding, or anything else that puts a load on the CPU, it has never frozen. I tested this by running some burn-in software all...

    story driven co-op fps

I know story-driven or campaigns are usually single player, but ideally (probably does not exist though) would something like the Bioshocks, Half-Lifes, and Fallouts. I'll check out Portal 2. Borderlands 2 I played a long time ago so I do not recall it. Doesn't Fallout 76 have a monthly...

This is still from my old system. OS is currently installing on the new. Then I'll be doing data transfers. As for the 212, I have no intention of doing any OC. I'll do a burn-in and monitor the temp later. If it turns out to not be enough, a few days delaying the use is no big deal Just...

    Watts needed

The plan was to RAID 0 the two 2TBs. Looking through the manual, it sounds like as long as nothing is attached via SATA (protocol or port) there will be no significant performance issue. M2A will be the OS. The two 2TB SSD would be on M2B & C. So that would be fine since they both run through...
