new glossy monitor like the Dell s2415h? Any exist?

Short answer: No Slightly longer answer: but not sure if they are actually shipping product yet and the company has a bit of a history with regards to failed promises, constant and significant delays etc.

Nvidia's RT performance gains not as expected?

this is what was said about FSAA in the first 5-7 years it was around too. And I'd say its been something people dont even think about turning off or on for, hmmm, maybe at least 6 years now? More? I definitely stopped thinking about it with the 1080Ti...

Who else is waiting on Zen 4 x3D before upgrading?

I am giving it the ol' best effort. If they truly announce at CES and have availability within 6-8 weeks... ish... I am definitely on board. But if its a CES sneak peak with no availability until summer then I dont know, it could be RPL time. I desperately need a new system, top down.

Nvidia's RT performance gains not as expected?

His whole position is just really perplexing. He is saying that relative to the raster increases gen on gen, the raytracing increases are poor, and by 'poor' meaning only slightly outpacing the raster increases. As if somehow the relative increase to raster is somehow more relevant or more...

Installing Windows today, Win 10 or 11?

I would go windows 11 only because I am a very simple user of the OS and that simple functionality is fine in W11. I will also be using an HDR display device and that is one area where W11 is dramatically better tuned than W10.

AW3821DW (Nov 2020) with GSync Ultimate

No i have a 3 year old LG 34" but would have upgraded to the 38" until all of these OLEDs turned up complicating things. But I am definitely a gigantic 21:9 zealot which is why even though I am eyeballing a C2 it is with definite mixed feelings...

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

Im definitely finding myself more and more receptive to the 7900XTX for sure. I think it will ultimately come down to whats available when I pull the trigger on a new cpu (waiiting for Zen4X3D). If the 4090's are readily available I will go that route, but I will not be waiting on...

AW3821DW (Nov 2020) with GSync Ultimate

I said it before and I'll say it again, the 38" 21:9 form factor is absolutely perfect imo. Its a shame that it hasnt taken off at all. 3840x1600 is a fantastic resolution, but i feel the 38" size could also easily handle 5120x2160 too.

    RTX 4080: Countdown To Second-Best™

I thought the answer was pretty clear: A 'reasonably' priced 4080 would negatively impact sales of 3070 to 3090 parts which the channel is stuffed with and struggling to clear through. Nvidias position is essentially "please help us clear the channel but if you really really want a 40x0 we're...

    Odyssey Neo G8 - 4K 240 Hz 32" Quantum Mini LED

The question is are these issues that should be fixed by Samsung Displays (ther panel maker) or Samsung Electronics (the monitor maker). If the latter, then the hope would be that some other monitor maker who uses the same samsung panel , might have better support. Of course that begets the...

AM5 suggestions for 3 full speed NVME 4.0 drives?

I’m putting together a new system for the first time in 9 years and am looking at a 3x 2TB nvme sticks configuration. I would like a board that supports full speed/full lanes on all of them while still having a 16 lane pcie5 gpu slot. I am assuming this configuration is only going to be...

Which RTX 4090 card are you planning or consider to get?

Zero percent chance of this imo. The 4090 is unassailable right now and nvidia will keep it priced as such (imo). The forthcoming 4080 will be the one to watch to see if nvidia reacts. They *should* because the 7900XTX is going to shit all over it... except in raytracing... for $200 less. I...

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

I feel calling it a poor showing is overly critical. And I say this as a pretty much certain 4090 buyer. It would be a poor showing if they priced it a few hundred cheaper than the 4090. It is six hundred dollars cheaper. At a minimum. It's obviously not a slam dunk, but it is fairly likely...

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

ahh maybe a bit underwhelmed in actual performance. Was hoping raster would be a bit more competitive... its not bad certainly, but was hoping it would be closer to the 4090 overall. RT performance came in at kind of the worst case scenario. However they certainly priced it VERY aggressively...

    Zen 4 and memory speeds

so am i at least correct in that the memory speed support is built into the cpu and not the motherboard/chipset? What im trying to avoid is being limited by the motherboard. The socket longevity is much less valuable if essentially need a new mother board and new memory in 3 or 4 years anyways...

    Zen 4 and memory speeds

New to Zen cpu's and have a question... So I understand that currently the sweet spot for memory performance on Zen 4 is 6000mhz DDR5, with ramped up speeds beyond that not showing significant gains. I loosely understand this is related to the current infinity fabric implementation in the...

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

As someone who is desperately trying to eke out a few more months of his 9 year old cpu (4790K)and 6 year old gpu (1080Ti) before doing an entire new system purchase I'm very excited of course! That said if I was betting money I suspect I will end up in the 4090 camp, and probably due entirely...

    Odyssey Neo G8 - 4K 240 Hz 32" Quantum Mini LED

G8 is very intriguing but there's too many strikes against it for me. 1000r curve 32" 16:9 form factor design aesthetics scan line issues. If it was only 1 or 2 of those I would probably jump in because the actual panel performance seems pretty exciting. But collectively there is just too...

I just cant get over the ridiculous curve on a 32" 16:9 monitor of all things. And I am on a curved ultrawide and actually appreciate the curve but that G8 has a curve like that for.... no reason that I can fathom. And how do you feel transitioning back to the matte finish after two glossy...

How long is a 12700k setup good for?

I mean im still on a 4790K and 1080Ti with 16 gigs of ram. Coming up on 9 years for the cpu, and its only maybe the last 6 months where I've finally been really feeling like I need a new cpu.

Its sad that 3440x1440 seems to be the only 21:9 resolution that has gained any traction because 38" 3840x1600 is probably my favorite display size/resolution.

So I've been using a 10 yr old Dell 24" 1920x1200 in portrait mode for the last few years and its finally dying. I am a huge fan of the side portrait monitor setup so i need to replace it. I dont want to fall back to 1080p and lose that little bit of resolution, in fact I'd rather add more...

New Corsair K100 Air - Wireless Low Profile RGB Gaming Keyboard, what are your thoughts?

Worth upgrading from Zen3?? No not really, it would a very modest/incremental upgrade. But this is always the case when moving from 1 cpu gen to the immediate next.

The main points of attraction for me are the heatsink and the monitor features. The heatsink is a bit nebulous though because its a bit of an unknown as to how much it truly benefits. Does it assist in panel longevity? That would be my real concern because as a true desktop pc monitor this...

Any news on when the ATX 3.0 PSU's will arrive?

The short summary is that the spec is much better at handling high power components like 450 to 600 watt gpus and such. Can better tolerate micro bursts of high power draw. Less risk of high draw components flaming out etc.
