Please help me to spend my money wisely. VR configuration

The problem with buying a mini PC, is that you need a monitor too. Are you going to lug a monitor around with you as well?? But, a PC should be cheaper than an similarly spec'd laptop. As I said, the base-stations don't track anything. The Trackers track themselves. It depends on the size of...

Please help me to spend my money wisely. VR configuration

You are welcome. Sorry for not getting back to earlier but I was away for the weekend. Thanks for the detailed post. That helps a lot. I just presumed you were buying everything new, but, if you are getting the Valve Index with controllers and 2 base stations for a good price, then I think...

Nvidia 4090 meltdown maybe an answer

Just answering both of these posts. And there is the important phrase, you "sample all shipments" You don't test every single part from every single shipment. And when you do your tests, do you put things upside down, or inside or not correctly seated etc. etc. Or do you make sure...

Please help me to spend my money wisely. VR configuration

I think nobody knows exactly what you are trying to do. Is the motion capture going to be graphically intensive? While the Valve index is good, it's very expensive. And if you aren't gaming, are the knuckle controllers a needless added expense? What was your reasoning behind picking the...

Pimax Crystal: Pimax's answer to compete with Varjo Aero (Premium on the cheap....er)

For me, it wasn't the lack of updates it was the surprise at them launching a Steam Deck competitor. If I was interested in buying the Crystal I would be concerned about Pimax focusing their attention on a completely new type of product. They haven't exactly got the best record for quality...

Pimax Crystal: Pimax's answer to compete with Varjo Aero (Premium on the cheap....er)

It's a really odd decision. It's like they are just throwing out products to see what sticks or they are just building up a portfolio that will entice a bigger company to buy them out.

Pimax Crystal: Pimax's answer to compete with Varjo Aero (Premium on the cheap....er)

The ease of use is definitely something that Pimax have to improve. It's not just about the FOV and resolution. As VR grows, the User experience will become more and more important. But that's not the main problem with Pimax. I have only two experiences with a Pimax headset. The first was...

Pimax Crystal: Pimax's answer to compete with Varjo Aero (Premium on the cheap....er)

I don't understand that reaction about VR headsets. I have seen the same thing on Reddit in the Vive Pro 2 threads. Say anything good about any other headset and you are immediately attacked. It's a strange mindset. VR is still at a stage where nobody can say that one headset is the best for...

Regarding Mindshare, I think it will, especially combined with the current Nvidia problems. And it won't be just one generation. If RDNA 3 is good, it will building on the reputation gained from RNDA 2. Because the RDNA 2 product line was very good. It was a release with no major flaws, cards...

Join us on November 3rd as we unveil AMD RDNA™ 3 to the world!

This!! Excellent post. This pretty much is exactly why the Market is the way it is. AMD, since taking over ATI, have been very inconsistent at best to incompetent at worst. Lisa Su has turned things around. Their success in the CPU market is a guideline to what they have to do in the GPU market...

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

Depends on VR performance and codec support. Decent Ray Tracing performance would be nice too.

Anybody plan on grabbing one of the new RX7xxx Navi cards on launch?

No, it's not an excellent point. It's the same BS rubbish that's spouted at almost every new GPU release and definitely after every console release. Going right back to the early 2000's, the exact same things were been said, that the high price of Graphics cards were going to ruin PC gaming. And...

    AMD 22.10.2 driver hell

My 6900xt started having driver install problems. But worked fine when I finally got the driver installed. I was blaming AMD's drivers for been totally crap. Except one day nothing worked and it just black screened halfway through installing any driver. I had to RMA my 6900XT it was faulty...

Sorry, My bad. In my defence, your post does sound like you are blaming the airbridge. You actually weren't complaining about the Quest 2 or the bridge, you were just having a bad day!! Sorry for that. Hope you get back into VR soon.

    Oculus Quest 2

The Airbridge is only for connecting your Quest 2 to your PC. It doesn't connect you to the internet. The Lone Echo save would have nothing to do with the Airbridge either, It's stored locally on your PC, not in the cloud. Here are save game replacements for Lone Echo

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang hints at ‘exciting’ next-generation GPU update on September 20th Tuesday

The reason why I asked you for a specific law, was just to waste your time. You see, Nvidia aren't breaking any laws with their naming scheme. Nvidia released the 1060 the same way they are releasing the 4080. Announcement first and release after. All the information that came on the box of...

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang hints at ‘exciting’ next-generation GPU update on September 20th Tuesday

Ok, You brought up that Nvidia were breaking rules/regulations. I asked you to point to the rules/regulations they were breaking, I meant specifics. And you state that there is plenty of case law where this exact point is been decided against marketers/sellers. Give me an example that applies...

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang hints at ‘exciting’ next-generation GPU update on September 20th Tuesday

LOL I am not indignant at all, you should be talking to people with all the outrage. And I would love for you to quote the regulatory and legal systems that Nvidia are breaking. How come they weren't fined or whatever for the 3080 12GB and the 3080 10GB or go back further to the 1060 6GB and...

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang hints at ‘exciting’ next-generation GPU update on September 20th Tuesday

Bad business practices? LOL, it's called marketing and every company in the world does it. What difference would it make to have specs on the box for the "average consumers" you are talking about? If they aren't bothered about doing even 5 minutes of research before spending $900 on a card...

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang hints at ‘exciting’ next-generation GPU update on September 20th Tuesday

The average consumer? LOL, the average consumer isn't buying $900 cards. And anybody who is spending that much on a graphics card and doesn't do 5 minutes of research deserves to be hoodwinked. I don't get all the fake outrage on tech forums either. Why does the naming matter? Look at the...

NVIDIA reportedly wants to cut TSMC orders for next-gen RTX 40 GPUs 5nm wafers amid lower demand

Techpowerup has done something like this since 2020 in their GPU reviews. Check out any recent graphic card review and go to power consumption. I believe they use the same games and settings across all the cards. The 6900XT will use less power if you cap the frame rate, but so will the 2080Ti.

NVIDIA reportedly wants to cut TSMC orders for next-gen RTX 40 GPUs 5nm wafers amid lower demand

Just one question before I reply to this. Do you have a reference 6900XT or an AIB one, like the Gaming X trio? You are very mixed up. The 2080Ti uses less power than the 6900XT. The one the produces the most heat is the 6900XT, there is no getting away from thermodynamics. The 7nm process...

NVIDIA reportedly wants to cut TSMC orders for next-gen RTX 40 GPUs 5nm wafers amid lower demand

What? If the airflow in your case can't handle a 2080Ti it won't handle a 6900XT. The 6900XT will put more heat into the case than the 2080Ti, it uses more power. Are you sure it's your CPU throttling and not your 2080Ti? The EVGA black edition suffers from GPU throttling if you don't use a...

Steam Bucks - Buy Index or wait?

I wouldn't buy the Index now. It's too expensive for what it is. And if you are only going to be Sim Racing, then, it's an even bigger waste of money as you won't be making much use of the controllers. However, if you can only buy from Steam, then I am not sure you have any other options...

NVIDIA reportedly wants to cut TSMC orders for next-gen RTX 40 GPUs 5nm wafers amid lower demand

Do you know what it was actually for? It was a misreporting on their 10-Q forms to the SEC. You think it's some big thing, "misleading investors" but, it's not really. All they had to do was put a line in the 10-Q forms that mentions how volatile the Crypto Market is. That's it, that's the full...
