    Project: Industrial Hell

Brick work looks great! The integration of the bricks at the front with the drives really makes the mod work. Cool concept!

    ON3 Up....

Crap, crap, crappity-crap!!!!! Well my 6800 card died on me in the middle of a Painkiller game. Remember, the 6800 card had MANY hours of modding by itself, and now all that work is shitcanned too. I can't afford another card either, so ..... Another mod time. Yeah, I know. I've done this...

    ON3 Up....

Hey all. Sorry about the lack of posts over the summer. Progress on this mod is picking up steam and real installation of the main parts into the frame should be ready shortly after the frame gets cut out. It's a hell of a job cutting these parts, since the thickness of the acrylic is double...

    ON3 Up....

Hey Sarbz. Got to start the frame parts today. The lower plate with the mobo port cutouts is nearly done, but that's it. I've been doing the summertime thing and put the project on the back burner. Got two kids and a wife to deal with ya know... Tough cutting that thick acrylic...

    Bonzanego's Project: MorningStar

That's what I was thinking. But then again, I've been at my SFF mod for how many months now??! I think he's gonna finish this one in a pretty quick way due to all the cosmetics added rather than a fully custom arrangement.

I do it to gain access to the net while I work during the day mobile, on the road. So there is another reason.... And I do pay for my own cable here too. Damn near $150 worth.

Oh well. But then you knew what this thread was about when you got here. It's nice grabbing free access when I need it, for simple email and internet accessability. I opened my access point for free access here, and so does my neighbor, so it's not like we are cracking fort knox :) If it's...

Tiny laptops are the way to go for me

It's the one across the street from the car wash, at the rotary of 107. I'm parked there alot in a rental truck. The tux place is in the same lot. Hopefully it's not you I'm ganking internet access from! LOL....

Tiny laptops are the way to go for me

I was thinking of that and the MM20 above as well, but this thing is smaller. The smaller the better IMO. Keyboard isn't too small either, surprisingly. I'm using it now! I am in love!

Hey, Patman. Just got my Fujitsu P1120 ultraportable yesterday. I've been using my RX3715 pocket PC for about six months now, and it works great for finding wireless access points that I can use to pirate some Internet access off of. But the P1120 is much better for doing this, as the full...

Tiny laptops are the way to go for me

Hey all. Just wanted to show you kids my new toy. It's a Fujitsu P1120 Lifebook. I've been waiting for the cash to purchase this machine for about two years now, and since then I got a Libretto 70 to try out to make sure an ultraportable keyboard would be good enough to type on. Even though the...

    Touchscreen laptop into car tablet?

I think he's going for a laptop for size, low power/thermals, and integrated features, not to mention the touchscreen interface. Any regular PC will be inferior to a laptop in the long run, I've done both setups in many cars many times, and I can vouch for a slower laptop any day of the week! :)...

    Touchscreen laptop into car tablet?

Yeah, different mobo there on that site. The cf-27 shown at that website has a STARTING RAM size of 64 MB, yours comes with 32..... And the CPU at that site lists as a PIII. Don't give up hope though, even with a minor upgrade to 64 MB of RAM and maybe a HDD increase to 10GB the machine would be...

Ahhhhhhhh! Page 2?????? Man I've slacked long enough, huh? :) Looks like I need an update soon for this rig. Too bad my time has been taken up by non-modding activities. But like the proverbial sands o' time, this case will be finished. Now for the good and bad news. The good news is my...

    Case Fan placement

Carv, that 80mm in the side could have a 80-120 adapter attached on the back of the fan. That will bring the air DIRECTLY to the Zalman. You may need a "deep" version adapter, if they even make them. Then add the 120 at the back panel. Your airflow troubles would be over.

    Nintendo 64 Case Mod

Yeah, the whole "hand made" look can be done so that it fits the look better than machine-cut parts. This guy has done a decent job and you can tell it's not made in some factory... But it's all good IMO.

Nice and clean looking. Night shot is not so clean, as the water tubes stand out but I think that's the look you are shooting for. At least there's great attention to detail and the lighting is subdued rather than bold. Kudos to your build ethic!

    Taking another shot at HD44780

Hey again. Well I'll give it a shot, even tho I'm no electronics wizard.... The variable resistor "thigy" is a pot- (potentiometer) like a volume control or fan speed control. I wouldn't directly connect power to the contrast pin, but instead use a resistor there if you don't want...

    Interesting paint option...

Yeah, those auto store spray cans do work well, when they are brand-name! Like bonzanego said, the cheaper the paint can, the worse your paint will be. I used some spray can "Toyota white" on my replacement Tacoma front fender, and without even sanding, one coat looked almost perfect! After...

    Materials...any suggestions

Acrylic is easy to work with. It's also cool since it's transparent and also can be painted. Aluminum would be a bit harder to machine, but much stronger than acrylic. Since you have access to CF and kevlar, you must know a bit about creating things out of them. Fiberglass has the same basic...

    Project: [H]ardcase

Oh come on..... More details soon? Surely you can do better than that  J/K BTW. Very nice design! I like the idea of refreshing the PS with air... Nice setup in your graphics editor, too! This hould be a cool case, and I like the [H] theme! So you gonna do black and burgandy/red, then?

    CCT Opinion Poll

I like LED lights better myself, they are less garish and harder to make look good in a case mod :) But the premade LED strips are not as uber-geek as rolling your own! That said, the CC lights can be used in a good way, as long as you hide them well and make the glow work to your advantage...

    Interesting paint option...

First off, I'd like to say that case painting from the start can be daunting as the amount of pure sanding and respraying layers of paint and waiting to dry between coats can take many hours of work.Even spray paint cans will give excellent results as long as you spend the time to make it look...

    Installing LED's

Like Sarver said, you can get LED's with the right voltage from the start. But if you have some already, they are most likely around 2 volt each. You can put two in series (matching positive to negative in a chain) and it will run off of 5 volts. Or, put five in a chain and run them off of 12 volts.

Damn, that's a nice looking window you got there :) I like the swirls in it. Much sweeter than the average worded logo everyone else seems to do. So did you send them an image to be etched in, or is that something they came up with?

    a-top xblade

Well, it's certainly more interesting than a regular ATX plain-jane, that's for sure! Like the others have said, the Xblade logos need to go. But I bet you can do some really nice modding to this case, like stripping the chrome, repainting and doing some work to the side panel to make it more...

    Touchscreen laptop into car tablet?

Win2K would run very poorly IMO. And with the touch driver 98-only, that's the way you should go. As far as upgrading, don't expect to do the CPU. It prolly won't work for you. The bios will not allow a P3 at all, this thing is a P1! And that's only if it has a socket in the first place, being...

Painting over top of generic "grey" case frame...

I've found that the case finish you speak of will work with paint, but without any priming and prep work will be VERY, very fragile. A single piece of tape can and will pull the paint right off! I don't think that sanding the crap out of it will be necessary, unless it's glossy. Get some good...
  37. Z

    Case Fan placement

Sounds like you have a pressurized setup right now. This is both good and bad. Good: All the accessories (drives, cards, etc) have seams where they "meat" the edge of the case, and the pressurized air will try and escape thru those seams. This will cool those components a little more than with...

Antec Titan 550? If it Aint ATX, then what is it?

My god, what the phuk was Antec thinking? Maybe they have finally become lax after all the success they have gained. Many companies do this because they can save money, and still use the power of their brand name to pimp the stuff out. Antec Sold-Out? Prolly.....

    PSone LCD Mod/Enclosure Suggestions

If you have a dremel, go with acrylic and roll-your-own! You can use aluminum stock from a hardware store to make the frame portions out of, mount the components to the metal, and attach the acrylic to the aluminum as well. This way you won't have an ugly, pre-made part and the aluminum...
