    Escape From Tarkov

Don't take dying personally. Don't repeek angles. Do be surprisingly aggressive; you can catch people out. Do buy the best ammo v. armor you can get. Do aim for the face.

    The Ascent (Cyberpunk ARPG)

It's solid and I'd say close to being worth the sale price we picked it up at which was $20 or thereabouts.

    The Ascent (Cyberpunk ARPG)

Co-op is still rocky in terms of rando bugs (triggers not working, weird sound problems) but no fatal issues with saves or anything in about 11hr played.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Metro: Exodus after leaving it on the pile for quite a while; having purchased it when it released on GoG, but holding off playing it until I had an RTX card that could do justice to the game. Then I just played a bunch of other crap after getting the new card and am finally cycling back around.

    [Epic] Get Supraland for FREE

I bought this for my wife a couple years back and she had a blast with it with the exception of a couple platforming sections.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

I've been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and the writing is worse than the complaints led me to believe. The challenge tombs are still the best part of the game, so far. I haven't revisited the prior entries but I recall them being less busy with resource/crafting garbage.

Pivo504 Owl Boy was okay by me, though I am 99% certain that it was targeting nostalgia for a console I never owned as a child. My note on my games completed tracker:

    Doom Eternal

I don't recall it being a jarring lighting mismatch but I also didn't play with an old school Doomguy skin. I remember the default and Doom 2016 skins looking normal in reflections.
  14. silentsod shutting down, moving games to Steam

Good. I actively avoided buying the Doom: Eternal Collector's Edition (I have the Doom 2016 one) because it was a key and instead of a day 1 purchase I waited until the game was heavily discounted to buy it. They see they could maybe get a bigger slice of the pie and fail to...

WWZ with the coop group - we've levelled enough and figured out the game more such that we're getting ready to start climbing the difficulty ladder. Solid co-op horder shooter, I like the weapon upgrade system where all weapons found in world match your unlocked and selected upgrades. Classes...

SnowRunner, some of the LEGO games but they have violence (you said Homeworld though and there's definitely violence in that), Train Sim World 2 if he's into trains, Railroad Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Gizmos and Gadgets (might be tough to get running), Dr. Brain, etc. Escape Velocity or...

    It Takes Two

There's quite a bit of platforming which can frustrate my wife but I would say the game is generally forgiving. Fail state is usually both characters dying and resuscitation time is short enough the other person can stay alive in that window for the respawn.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

I just wrapped up Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Good platformer; gorgeous visuals; similar insta-death mechanics in some scripted sequences as the original which are just trial and error sections if you're not reading the route they want you to take properly (at the pace they intend for you to...

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

My toddler does the throttle when we play together - I spent an enormous amount of time getting things prepped for him to see the construction scenes for larger tasks or delaying bridge building so he could watch.

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Ori and the Will of the Wisp only this time in earnest because I finally cleared my last owned DLC in SnowRunner (there's more I just don't have them). Monster Hunter: World coop - the game is mechanically decent and taking down the various monsters is fun enough. The cutscenes are frequent...

    Senua's Saga: Hellblade II

Play the first on easy, the game is not interesting from a combat mechanic standpoint. I played on hard and all it did was prolong the combat which was not difficult or engaging.

Six classic Star Trek games released on GoG

I still have my ST Armada discs, and Elite Force but no case for that one which might have a CD key requirement. I don't think I ever played EF 2, anyone care to comment on if that was a worthwhile sequel? I see one endorsement.

They just introduced some graphics bugs but hopefully they fix them sooner than later. They did fix some broken tasks for me in the Yukon which was a nice surprise. Review the game you finished recently.

Correct - I am doing Yukon last after playing base game + the other Year 1 DLCs and am clocking over 400 hours. That includes a not-insignificant chunk of time put into my son's game so he can see things get built, but there's literally hundreds of hours of low stakes gameplay to be had. I...

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Ori and the Will of the Wisps which I picked up for myself this latest sale. SnowRunner where I'm wrapping up the trials and have only 1 DLC map left to go from the year 1 pass (I don't own the year 2 pass). Hedon: Bloodrite a follow up campaign to a rip roaring retro shooter (GZDoom engine)...

    Elden Ring (From Software RPG)

I had someone corrupt my DkS3 save while in the the Ringed City and it was annoying at first and then actually a problem later because it set a flag on a boss and glitched the game. I was able to use a third party tool to save the game and character but it was absolutely not something that...

    Elden Ring (From Software RPG)

I'll buy it, just a question of when since I don't like pre-ordering games. I pre-ordered DkS3 and it sat on my backlog for years before I picked it up and did NG -> NG++ playthroughs back to back to back. At least, I think I stopped on ++.

How often do you replace power supply?

This morning when I found out it was toast in my machine. It was a Corsair that had a 6-7 year run. Slapped in the EVGA low end PSU I got with a bundle and had lying around. I'm not really comfortable with a 700W powering the 3080ti so I may be in the market for a new one.

    Doom Eternal

If you're not finding PC gaming enjoyable and the community bothers you (admittedly, I was poking the bear) - why not make the change? Shelve the machine for a while and see if you like being away from the additional overhead that this hobby requires.
