I've always had a fairly high opinion of Dell; yes, their prebuilts are and always have been overpriced garbage, but they've made and continue to make some of the best monitors on the market and every interaction I've had with their customer support over the years has been excellent. The way...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

My replacement came. The monitor itself was completely naked inside the box aside from some styrofoam. No protective covering on the screen, no foam bag, nothing, and the VESA adapters were loose just banging around inside the box up against the bottom of the monitor. If this thing isn't broken...

In displays with four digit price tags it is.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Just put in for my replacement. Support said that as long as your warranty is in effect, you are eligible for burn-in replacements. So if you get burn-in, get a replacement, and then the replacement gets burn-in, you can get another replacement and so on.

I legitimately don't understand how anyone uses this monitor in 1000 mode or doesn't notice ABL when using it. The ABL is constantly triggering in basically every movie or game I've tested it with, it is beyond distracting. TB400 is almost perfect.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Yes and no. QD-OLED operation is a fairly significant departure from LG's WOLED in a way that heavily implies a more burn-in resistant panel.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Does anyone know if the amount of replacements for burn-in is limited or if you can get as many as necessary? I can't find the specific warranty for the monitor anywhere on Dell's site.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I've had it at 60. How often have you done pixel refreshes?
  14. O

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Two panel refreshes and still no change.

Yeah, thought QD was supposed to be significantly better, though. F.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Panel refresh did nothing, looks exactly the same.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

    1. HDR on all the time so no control over brightness, contrast at default 75%. 2. No. I've been using it like any other monitor. I've made no effort to mitigate burn-in whatsoever, though I do use a hidden taskbar out of preference. It probably gets to do a complete refresh around 2-3 times a...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

No. I don't notice it except on very dark scenes in games and it doesn't bother me very much, and I'm not 100% clear on how the panel refresh works so didn't want to put undue stress/wear on the rest of the pixels.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Yeah, it sucks because there isn't a "soft" disable for specific apps if you want to use windowed G-SYNC, the screen has to switch to G-SYNC off mode. For example, I have it disabled for MPC-BE because movies/tv shows make it flicker like crazy, so whenever I fullscreen it, it has to switch...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

There is gamma flicker at low refresh rates or when a game is stuttering in VRR mode in darker scenes.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

No way. I got it on March 8th, that'd be 19 hours of screen-on time every single day since then.

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

I had a refresh reminder pop-up in the middle of a game one time after telling it not to do the pop-up notifications anymore, haven't had another one since then. I usually switch displays to my wall-mounted TV when I'm done for the day and Windows makes it go to sleep, at which point it'll do a...

It's hard to find actual response times for CRTs. According to this paper, a ViewSonic G90fB has a 0-255 response time of 0.58 ms and a 255-0 response time of 2.45 ms. According to this paper, a Mitsubishi RDF193H has a 0-255 response time of 150 μs and a 255-0 response time of 2 ms. For a...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

I have no idea. I had the same experience you did the first few days, and then for three or four days it was just constantly ramping up and down over and over all day long even with the monitor turned off. Setting the brightness as low as it would go did nothing, turning HDR off did nothing. And...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Plenty of people complained, you forget what forum you're on. We had 60+ Hz refresh rates on CRTs before LCDs even existed. LCDs were a massive downgrade in basically every aspect when they originally came out and even today they're still inferior to CRTs in a lot of ways. People thinking that...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

Ok, I don't know what the fuck is going on with the panel fan (? don't think it's the G-Sync fan) on my unit but it's really starting to get annoying. I have HDR brightness set to just 20 and all I'm doing is browsing with Chrome and it's constantly kicking on at completely random intervals for...

    Dell Alienware AW3423DW 34″ QD-OLED 175Hz (3440 x 1440)

If you use this monitor with its out of the box settings with HDR disabled in Windows, SDR content will be oversaturated. HDR on will use the correct color space in sRGB programs. Alternatively if you want to keep HDR off for some reason, you can enable sRGB emulation through the OSD, but I...
