    Alder Lake launching November 4th

Yeah, that makes the most sense. I also just realized that DDR5 boards only support up to 6200 or 6400 anyway, so that DDR5 10000 would require a new board anyhow. I have currently 32GB of G.Skill Ripjaws V @3400 CAS 16. I could just throw that on it.

    Alder Lake launching November 4th

That's my one reservation about DDR4 with Z690. In a year, we'll have DDR5 10,000 kits. To capitalize, you'll need another new mobo.

What Z690 board are you eyeing?

I thought this was a good look:

    Alder Lake launching November 4th

That seems like a sensible approach in your case. However for me, I want to upgrade now from an i7-6700K, and it seems like the i5-12600K is a no-brainer.

    Question regarding DDR5 vs DDR4.

    Trying to decide on DDR5 vs. DDR4 on new build. Looking at these kits we find G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4 32 2x16 4800 17 1.6V 7.08333 ns F4-4800C17D-16GVK $269.99 OLOy Blade RGB DDR5 32 2x16 4800 40 1.1V 16.66667 ns ND5U1648400BRKDE $279.99...

Do you even want to buy a CPU right now?

Actually, my 6700K performs pretty well, no real complaints, only upgraded it a few years ago after running an i7-920 for seven years. The whole reason the upgrade even came up was that Windows 11 doesn't support pre-7th gen Intel CPUs. But now, looking at all the shiny new toys, I've got the...

Do you even want to buy a CPU right now?

Been out of the build business for awhile. Running an i7-6700K. Started looking at upgrades with the Windows 11 news. Done my homework to get up to speed, but really not sure what to do at this point: 1) Build a new system around i7-11700K, Asus ROG Strix Z590, new ram, I have an RTX 2080 that...

AMD & ATI - Some Questions Answered

It seems to me like AMD wanted ATI for the ATI's graphics technology. I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Nvidia mobo chipsets have done MUCH better than ATI's mobo chipsets. However, ATI and Nvida are neck-in-neck in the graphics chip race. AMD already has a partnership with Nvidia to...
