No. The 9000 has Supreme Motion Rate 240 (vs 8000 with Motion Rate 240), upgraded dimming technology, and it's brighter. For some people, these are "minor" and not worth the extra coin. I paid < $1900 shipped for the 9000, and it can be had for around $1700 today. I like to have the best...
Snagged one! My only concern is the subwoofer, which I'll probably turn down low to prevent the inevitable low frequency distortion and audio imbalance. I'm figuring that I can upgrade the subwoofer at a later time if desired.
How about the Ultra II 480GB for $98.99 shipped? https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-2-5-Inch-Height-SDSSDHII-480G-G25/dp/B00M8ABFX6/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1480359589&sr=1-1&keywords=Sandisk+Ultra+II+480GB+SSD
+1 pretty much all of these posts. I may not be a Software Engineer if it weren't for being introduced to PC gaming on a 386. Since graduating university several years ago, I've found that all I have time for is occasionally re-visiting some old games. There is no time to pick up a new game...
Whenever I feel guilty about visiting these forums because of the temptation to spend money, threads like this one are posted and make me feel good about myself again. THANKS, OP!
I tried code CYBT3PPS and it didn't work. The Paramount code works, however.
It's a good thing the code didn't work for me; as much as I want these cans, I didn't really want to spend that money on headphones :P
Edit: Verified - EXPIRED
This works! Got mine for $45.55 and am downloading via Origin now. This is a way better deal than Green Man Gaming. My credit card companies stopped my attempt to buy a game on GMG. They told me on the phone that there's a lot of frauders who use that website, which is why they automatically...
Just tried and the code 'works', but I keep getting an error when attempting to checkout. I've tried Discover, Mastercard, and my bank account using PayPal and GMG's own site. They must really not want to take my money. Oh well, I'll wait till another time.
I finally got my Civ5 code, but I had to go through the whole process again for it to work. For those who haven't gotten your code despite voting a week ago, try going through the process of claiming your free game again.
It's better for the charity if someone who otherwise wouldn't pay for the Humble Bundle (at a higher price than $1) chooses to pay $1. There are a lot of people like that, and when added up, it amounts to millions of dollars. That's how these things work.
I actually didn't notice where the USB port was on the back of the printer until now. I ordered a USB cable and will try that. In the meantime, I'll make use of the public library for all my printing/scanning needs... Thanks
The wireless on this printer has stopped working for me after about 6 months of use. My pc is only a few feet from the printer, so I was thinking I would connect it through a wired USB connection. I see that USB printer cables have a regular USB port on the end, and the other end is a small...
After 4 months, I'm still very happy with these speakers for movies and music. IMO, they're better than the Logitech Z-5500 as far as producing clean, balanced sound (I'm sure the A/V receiver I use with the Energy Take 5.1 makes a difference).
It looks like Haswell releases in April 2013. I think I'll plan on upgrading cpu and video card around April-May of 2013. Will the new cpu work in the same socket as the i5 2500k, or will it require a new motherboard?
Clearly I'd prefer not to wait :P Currently my fps drops to < 30 in Starcraft 2 when playing 4vs4 at 1080p on max settings. That's too much decrease in performance, and I'm not interested in changing the graphics settings just for when I play 4vs4.
I can get a second Galaxy GTX 680 for ~$375 from Amazon. Add on a Twin Turbo II to make it cool and quiet, and I'm sitting around $425. The new cards will cost about $530 shipped, if the last generation was any indicator.
Seems like I should just go SLI and upgrade the GPU in 2014.

AMD is releasing the HD8000 line in January. Nvidia is releasing the GTX 780 line in March. Should I upgrade my GTX 680 to the HD8000 in January, or should I go SLI?
I don't see how this is hot. These prices are simply where supply and demand have put the cost of these video cards now. It's not like a discount, special or sale.
This. People who are cashflowing at least $2k+ in disposable income per month (after kids/wife/misc expenses) don't see a $2k computer upgrade every couple years as a significant expense. However, a college student sees a $400+ cpu as a bit extravagant :)
