The boinc is just a different animal all together. The projects workload are very different from project to project.
My farm was completely setup for just F@H. Alot of CPU, little RAM, all running on USB flash drives. Some of the projects required more memory than I had whiched cause Disk I/O...
I'm just running BoincTasks, you shouldn't need Boinc Manager to control the local client.I have 4 [H] Appliances and secondary Windows box all being monitored by BoincTasks, it seems to be just about stable at this point. I haven't completed figured out how BAM! layered perferences and...
I didn't see and answer..
sudo -u boinc boinccmd --quit
Will tell the service to stop processing.
I think I figured out you can use the Project URL to finish the current work and not pulling new task.
sudo -u boinc boinccmd --project http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/ nomorework
I am confused on...
I'm in the same boat with Linden, just starting to convert over my folding boxes. I have 16GB of RAM on a OS from my USB memory stick. I was able to complete cripple the box with Einstein project. How can you know the memory requirements for a project and what's a project recommendation for 48...
I got to agree with you all, It's just sucked the life out of me for Folding.. First time I've check the forums in weeks. Maybe its time to unionize and organize a boycott for sometime period..
Maybe that happening, and I missed it in the forum..Lol.
This seems simple to solved.. If the needed work is SMP, just ramp up the points. 3x the points for SMP for the month of January or until the work load balances.
At the end of the day, what does this cost them? I mean, it's not like I can trade my 500M folding@home points for a Chipotle...
Would it be possible for get your quantity discount, if you did a folding / DC graphic on the back and still left the front for Team logo? Then other teams could help drive up the quantity. I know over at EVGA, we have talked about this for years now.
I've had no major problem running in the garage. I've had some of the rig random lockup, but I seem to bet that inside as well. I'll like move them back inside to heat the house during core winter months and move them back in April/May when it time to start the AC units again. Here is my build...
Still working on it.. Had an irc session with tear and tried abunch of things. Next step would be to swap some cpu2 and cpu4 and see if that does anything.. It may or may not. I've back down to running at 230 ~2.41GHz and getting some WUs done.
My 6166HE set I had up to 257 and just didn't...
We might want to keep a list of known good and bad 8GB thumb drives.
Good - SanDisk Cruzer Fit 8GB > http://amzn.com/B005FYNSUA (7.5GB just fit)
Bad - Toshiba TransMemory 8GB > http://amzn.com/B00CJ4KM7G (7.2GB too small)
Yes, the faster the speed, the faster the collapse / reboot as I'm seeing it.. I'm a IRC noob, can someone post the links and information to connect.
Folding now 6+ hrs
Refclock: 231.954 MHz
Clockspeed: 2435.518 MHz
I'll give 240 a shot.
I also just happen to I have another 6172 sitting on the shelf I could bring into the mix.. Another interesting point CPU4 has a broken register, so I don't know the affects (hence the extra cpu).
horde@amd-6172:~$ sudo tpc -l | grep 0.pstate.0 | pastebinit...
Run G60NG4.A11 BIOS
I haven't seen any ht-retries counts. Nor am I getting anything from the Console (Ctrl+Alt+F1) because of the reboot.
Attempted 234 w/ enabling 'allow speeds > DDR3-1333' failed back to #2.
Attempted 234 w/ enabling 'allow speeds > DDR3-1333' & enabling alternative HT...
The Cool Tip is what I'm remembering, just couldn't find it. Thanks Musky!
Going to try sc0tty8 thumb drive setup next. I think it will help with air flow thru the rack without the hard drive mounting and cables..
Tear> Thanks for all the OC reference numbers. I didn't realize, I'm already at the top end.
If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it enough. So I'll push on, as long as we don't feel it's a waste of time.
And to be overly clear, This is what I was see on the box.
1. Box folding at 233 - 237...
I only get the HT errors following a Spontaneous reboot, these all clear with an additional reboot. I'll finish up the current WU and get the memtest86 started. 232 seems to be stable, what would you suggest be the next speed?
I run across a deal on some 6172s, I just could pass up (I'm sure you understand). I wanted to make sure I'm get the most I can out of them. I wasn't seemingly able to get anything over 232 (2.436 Ghz) to fold for over 24 hours. So I rebuilt the system with the [H] Appliance image and started...
I noticed the time zone set to Denver. Any thoughts to prompting for the time zone?
I also really liked having the clockspeed displaying, when you SSH into the box, I can't remember where to you set that up. I could use a little help on that one.
I was able to create a new setup in half the time! Thanks for all your guys [H]ard work!
I wanted to add a couple of things, like start folding on boot. Is there anything different with the Ramdisk? Can I just add this to /etc/rc.local
# Add FAH to start on boot
cd /home/horde/fah && sudo...
