Updating my list from 12 years ago. I don't remember the clocks specifically now. Getting older is a bitch..
AMD FX8350 (Sidegrade IMO)
Intel i7 4790k (massive upgrade in games)
AMD Ryzen 1800X (sidegrade for games but needed the cores)
AMD Ryzen 3600x
Intel I7 11700F...
Was thinking exactly this. A 2TB HDD with smaller SSD caching (32 or 64GB cache chip makes sense).
4k textures / assets are going to fill 1TB fast for most console gamers (people who game primarily on console).
Game install size increases dramatically every generation. My base (launch) PS4...
While I wish no hardships on the vast majority of developers (most of them are simply following orders to support themselves / families), I do hope Gearbox gets a management shuffle / replacement.
After leading teams of people to shit on two of my beloved adolescent franchises (Duke Nukem and...
I'm thinking it has something to do with memory bandwidth. Frostbite is one of VERY few game engines which provides a reasonable framerate bump when you increase memory frequemcy / channels.
Corsair released a benchmark some years back showing this gain. Will try to dig it up.
CDPR only recently (just after E3) announced the game is playable start to finish but some big content chunks are still missing.
"The entire game is playable from start to finish. It doesn't have all of the proper assets, playtesting or bug fixes in place, but seeing the story come together is...
27" @ 1080p 1ms BenQ for PC
50" @1080p Toshiba LED TV for consoles
My vision is not what it used to be so 1080p still suits me well. A little extra AA when sitting close to monitor and i'm set.
I also enjoy the fact my overclocked 980ti will carry me until Ray Tracing matures.
Welcome to LAN parties! This is how it was done from the 90's up until the mid 2000's. Standard fare as multiplayer gaming was still very limited by connections / available technology.
Not nearly as many to attend these days, what with the advent of broadband internet and matchmaking services...
Many doubts from trailer put to rest here. I'm glad someone found this.
-"Action-oriented" gameplay. I want a slow burn if I choose (a good RPG gives you this choice) and I want to explore every corner of this seedy city. Looks like we'll get this.
- Free DLC, paid EXPANSIONS (a proper size).
My recent Ryzen story:
I was using an Intel 4790k / z97 platform up until the end of last year. This was still serving me very well, but I wanted to start running some VMs again and the upgrade itch was massive by this point.. My intention was to grab a cheap Retail Edge 8700k as my next...
Hoping to see some 8700k action for the holiday deal but i'm not holding my breath. Supplies are too few and far between as it stands.
Historically though, CPUs that have been released during the summer (of the same year) have been up for grabs during holiday deal. *crosses fingers* The upgrade...
My Corsair H60 has cooled 3 CPU cycles in my PC: Phenom x4 955, Fx 8350 , and now my I7 4790k. No issues with fan or pump and has kept all those chips in check.
Very much satisfied
My current PSU fan (not corsair) seems to be making whirring noises lately. This may work very well :)
Funny, I remember certain levels in Doom 2 (outdoor city maps) that had so many baddies, you were toast if you didn't strafe and circle at those speeds. The sheer amount of enemies demanded you constantly move and dip. Granted, jumping and ledge grab add a new dimension, but the speed remains in...
I recently acquired a second HD 7950 from a friend but I have no chance of crossfire on my current 550W ocz PSU. Needs moar powa! :p
I want to run an Antec PSU because of my past experience with the brand (many earthwatt power supplies and cases). I have yet to own an Antec product that...
As someone who rarely buys a game at full price, I will not only buy this game day 1, I will be grabbing a PS4 because of it. (also uncharted) :p
You know when a game TRULY pulls you in...
A game you make an effort to block as much of the outside world as possible (turn off lights...
After about an hour of searching, it looks like there is no 64bit support for the Battlelog plug-in.. yet.
I'm really enjoying the decreased render time of 64bit chrome so it looks like I will need to re-enable IE11 just for BF4
Same boat with Dark Souls 2 .
Having never played Demons Souls or DS1, I was slightly worried I wouldn't get my money' worth (friends were raving about the game).
Damn did I certainly get my money's worth. I have now completed ds1 and demons because of this. Something about these games...
I cannot find where it says they are including those consoles. The 2 articles that mention platform availability say: "1080p at 60 FPS on PC, PS4 and Xbox One".
Wiki page also doesn't list PS3 or 360 either. For what that is worth :p
Over the past 2 months, I've noticed my GPU temps (7950 OC, reference cooler) gradually rising regardless of static room temps, fan additions or compressed air dusting.
I was tempted to RMA, but after a nightmare return process years ago with a x1950xtx, I didn't feel like waiting / dealing...
Ever since the first "Meet the..." video came out, I starting entertaining the idea that Valve should make or license a TF2 movie / series.
I love the slapstick 3D animation mixed with the mature humour. :D
Was getting a lot of "Display driver has stopped responding..." messages with 14.6.
All of them occurred (as far as I can recall) while playing a youtube / flash video.
It's not a BSOD but it was still enough to push me back to the trusty 13.12s.
I always use DDU / the standard cleaning...
Epic is really hammering in community content creation. I don't believe they will be making much of this game at all. Just basic technical groundwork.
Epic will profit via UE4 dev subscriptions no doubt.
From the stream, it seems Epic will just lay the foundation. They are counting on mods and the community for the bulk of the content.
A marketplace will exist where content creators can set their own price. Somewhat TF2 model I suppose
Quoting what I said in another closed Mantle thread
These were my steps when installing the 14.1's initially:
1: uninstalled 13.12 driver via CP. Selected all item boxes during custom uninstall.
2. Rebooted into safe mode , Ran DDU latest ver. and rebooted again.
3. Manually deleted the...
Driver did not treat my 7950 very well...:(
With Mantle enabled, I was getting some odd jitter/frame skipping. Under DX11, my game would crash frequently
Frame rate-wise, I didn't really see a noticeable improvement. I understand the 7000 series tweaks are not fully implemented, but...
What I found with scrypt mining (LTC) is to keep a keen eye on VRM temps. Mining puts an incredible strain on the power delivery.
With fan speed set to auto on my sapphire 7950, I hit 98C+ on VRM1 shown in GPU-Z. Core temp never went above 78C however. I have to manually set fan speed to 65%+...
