No digital output on DVI? Try this.

Hi, This was originally going to be a help request, but I've resolved the problem. If you have an older monitor (for example HP 2025) that supports both Digital and Analog DVI, and your computer refuses to use it in digital mode, look at your cable - if there's a flat blade with 4 pins around...

7970HD GHZ Artifacts/Display Corruption when DX11 Features Enabled.

Well, I would still say it's probably hardware...There's not much else to do in troubleshooting, and probably you just got a dud, if it's a brand new card. It happens, unfortunately, however rare. I wouldn't waste too much time in starting the RMA process... I assume you've idiot checked...

    Dram Command Mode?

Most ram, these days, will handle CR1, so use that. If you run into any stability issues, switch it back, but otherwise, it will give a small increase in performance. Wont hurt anything if it doesn't work :)

    Inexpensive PA systems

You could probably piece something together from thrift shops, to be honest... Even doing it brand new would be cheap, if you're piecing something together...Just need an amp with enough power and outputs (see below), mic, speakers and plenty of speaker wire. If you know how to hook up speakers...

    Strange HDTune results on S511

Thanks, I'll try that, but what really concerns me, is the chaotic graph. All the review sites for just about any SSD i've seen tested, is a relatively smooth, horizontal line. Perhaps the different block size will smooth it out, though? I'll check and report back. Thanks again :) EDIT: I...

I also want to point out, I've disabled defrag, indexing, made sure write caching is on, disabled pagefiles.... I see no reason for these results, other than I'm doing something wrong.

    Strange HDTune results on S511

Ok, now I really do feel like something is wrong in my configurations somewhere ... Different drive (kingston hyperx), different computer ("rig 2" in my signature - a laptop)... It's not as chaotic, but still way below the bar....Looks like this: This drive is literally brand new (only about...

hmm...good point. However, I've seen the same drive tested with this version (if not older), and got good results. Nevertheless, worth a shot. Thanks :)

    Strange HDTune results on S511

Thanks for the reply... In the screenshot, that test was done while the SSD was the boot/system/OS/"C drive"(whatever you want to call it...lol), however, as I mentioned, I have in the past also tried the benchmark while booted from another drive, with the same(ish) results...I can try again...

    Strange HDTune results on S511

Hi, was hoping somebody had some insight about these strange results from hdtune on my ADATA S511 120gb SSD: Other information: I've tried booting from another drive, and results are the same. Tried CrystalDisk, which gave slightly lower than expected results, compared to other review...

    For Sale help...

Hi, I need a bit of assistance, I think... I have a computer to sell, which I posted in the FS/FT area, but forgot to add "FS" to the title. Couldn't figure out how to edit the title (I've sorted that now..derp) and a few hours went by, when suddenly I couldn't find my post in the forum...

    SILENCE! Studio Computer Needed

Hi guys... Thanks again so much for the feedback. I decided that I need to just decide on something, and managed to find somebody on youtube with a very similar model laptop to the one I was looking at (same case/cooling design; slightly lower specs). He did some crude, very unscientific noise...

    SILENCE! Studio Computer Needed

Yea, I figured that's what you meant, but I just wish there was some way for me to try them out first (really, wish I could try any/all of these solutions before picking one). I'm going to keep researching tho, because I really need whatever solution I pick to be "it", so I can save the hassle...

    SILENCE! Studio Computer Needed

I figured as much, about the dedicated GPU in the laptop, although my hope would be that it would stay silent, when recording, since that doesn't use the GPU and could spin that fan down (or if it's only 1 fan, it wouldn't have to spin as fast).... Thanks for the links - reading it now :) My...

    SILENCE! Studio Computer Needed

Well, could be viable, but it has 2x 6970s in CFX (it's the AMD rig in my signature, only has my 1100t in it now), so I'd have to sacrifice a GPU to keep the cost of liquid cooling below that of just simply selling the whole rig and replacing it with something more modest (not to mention, either...

    SILENCE! Studio Computer Needed

Hi all, So I need a computer that can stfu in a small bedroom studio, for doing mic recording. Right now, I'm using a fairly high-end gaming rig I built, which is waaay too loud. Planning to sell it. And replace with.........something quiet. What I need is maximum CPU power, but would...

Games crash at splash screen with 8120.

Northbridge overclocking will not gain you much (if anything) like it did on Phenom II. http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte/46237-bulldozer-overclocking-guide-performance-scaling-charts-max-ocs-ln2-results-coming.html I'd still RMA that board... Sounds to me like it's not a matter of if but...

Games crash at splash screen with 8120.

What board do you have again? If its a 900-series chipset, I'm pretty sure they all have 8+2 phase power designs, which should be more than enough... And, while not the _ONLY_ thing that can go wrong by using such a high power-demanding chip (125W stock), it's the main thing that does go wrong...

Yea, definitely your board, if both CPUs are suddenly showing issues... That really blows, man :( Not sure how to really troubleshoot that, unless you have another one available or maybe friends/family have one you could use to test? Good luck, anyway...Let us know what you find out!

Man, idk what it is with the noise you're hearing, though...That's what concerns me the most. In my experience, if a CPU makes a noise, that is usually the last thing it ever does. I've heard power circuitry whine and click, but never CPUs.... As far as voltage, if you have LLC on your...

I meant absolutely no offense... I was just giving ideas based on my own experience w/ the chip, and based on what info you gave. Most definitely not trying to insult your intelligence/experience/abilities/etc in anyway. I do feel that 4.7ghz is a bit much to ask out of an 8120, though - at...

Games crash at splash screen with 8120.

I checked last night, and MSI does have a new BIOS up... It's just a huge PITA to swap my CPU again (with the risk I may have to turn right around and switch back)... However, for the sake of helping the BD community, I'll try to bump it up on my priority list, then hopefully we can add another...

this is @me? Wow...Idk what I said to set you off, but I'm just trying to offer up insight (based on over 15 years' overclocking experience, I might add, so if anybody is a noob, it certainly isn't me)....Sorry I bothered, anyway. Enjoy the CPU you probably fried your own damn self.

Games crash at splash screen with 8120.

1.5v is perfectly safe for these chips....I wouldn't go much above, that though. I've found they require a little extra voltage than you might expect, if your mobo doesn't have any vdroop compensation (like load line calibration, as is the case with mine). These chips don't seem to behave the...

Games crash at splash screen with 8120.

Yea, then in the fine print you'll realize that overclocking voids the warranty, results may vary, etc.. As far as being able to throttle or shut down before they die..... That's just wishful thinking. The best they can do is shut down/throttle based on heat. If your CPU isn't overheating...

Games crash at splash screen with 8120.

4.7ghz is awefully high for an 8120. I am not able to achieve even 4.6 w/o massive voltage increases. Overclocking isn't a free upgrade - it's hit and miss. If you had an am386, certainly you have enough experience to understand that, by now. You were probably pushing the chip waay to hard and...

It doesn't matter who's fault it is or who fixes it - we're all just trying to figure out what to do, and provide some moral support/comic relief to one another, in the mean time. The fact that this chip has been in development for over 4 years, and then is released in this pisspoor state (and I...

Well, it's a BIOS problem - that much we can say with extreme confidence, so it will eventually be fixed... If your normal rig is really the one in your signature, then it really doesn't matter if it can't do everything right away :P Buy it as a fun side project, because that's all it will ever...

Maybe never.... Or the never after next....hard to say, for sure, but that's the time-frame we're looking at, if things continue at the rate they are -_- I put my 1100t back into my AMD rig, and got that up and running now, so I'm golden. Not messing w/ the BD again until later down the road...

    ASUS RMA is Ridiculously Horrible!

I've heard a lot of bad support stories about ASUS...Their products are top notch, no doubt about it, but god help you if something happens to go wrong. What would you say? Re 850 Watt PSU

650w would probably have been plenty, depending on the quality. Amperage is a very important metric, but Watts = amps * volts, so...I guess it just depends on how you look at it. Ultimately, regardless of which metric you look at, continuous rating is more important than peak rating. You also...

HardOCP Readers Ask AMD Bulldozer Questions

BD is only going to fill a few small niches for heavy multithreading/tasking, 99.99% of which are going to be people who already have 900-series chipsets - not new builds. This niche is ultimately going to be a fraction of a percent of buyers. It's why I bought one, and it was mostly great. Then...

    FX Owners, what's your OC?

You do realize that this problem has been officially acknowledged by AMD, and has been fixed on some boards, in some BIOSes, right? I haven't seen any of this FUD, as I abandon my BD build, and went with a sandy bridge, but at one point, not too long ago, people's feelings and experience were...

What do you do when a new GPU releases? Does Newegg usually run out of stock quick?

I don't care how much money you have to waste - you have finite time to live and enjoy what you buy... I wouldn't waste it on any newly released hardware. Wait until its out for 6 mo to 1 yr for drivers/firmware to mature and any recalls to play out. In the mean time, enjoy a 6000 series AMD...
