New 4090 rumors are showing the card breaking 19K in Time Spy Extreme. My 3090ti scores around 11800 so that's quite a jump in performance!

That might be the reason you're seeing issues. Vega mentioned that he ran into problems when he didn't use the supplied DP cable. I would look into getting another DP cable if I were you. Something like THIS .

I think this chart lines up with what everyone in this thread has been saying. The G8 is NOT outputting 2K nits of brightness. It's more like 1K for most HDR highlights. In contrast the Asus PG32UQX will burn your eyes out with the amount of nits it outputs for those same highlights.

Linus did a sponsored video on the G8. It's not technical at all though.

OK so I used that KBB.com site as reference and switched between 120 and 240 several times. From my sitting distance I don't see any difference. If I move about an inch away from the screen I do see a faint grid effect. This is not a deal breaker personally but it might be for some [H] members...

My post was just related to image quality. I'm well aware that anything Apple makes is not geared towards gaming. This also brings up a good point. Are there any FALD displays with very fast response times? Sony recently enabled VRR and ALLM on their TVs but doing so disables FALD.

You make some valid points but also note that using an OLED TV for desktop work does have it's drawbacks. Try to hide the taskbar and don't keep static images on the screen for too long. Yes, I leave it on all the time.

Not sure about the G7 but on the G8 there's a setting in the "Picture" menu called "Contrast Enhancer". Setting this to "On" will improve the desktop image once you enable HDR in Windows 10/11.

That monitor is probably going to sell like hot cakes because of the Playstation branding alone.

I had a support ticket opened but closed it once I was issued an RMA. That was probably a mistake on my part. I opened a new support ticket to inquire about the RMA and got a response saying that I should be getting shipping details in 24hrs. I'll bet my first born that's not going to happen...

So I sent my Steam Deck back because of a faulty fan. It was signed for on June 1st. As of today I've heard nothing from the RMA department so it seems that Valve is still struggling to action returns. I'm planning to open a support ticket to ask for an update (if there is any).

I ended up having to return my Steam Deck because the fan was making a grinding noise. Based on your experience I'm going to be waiting a while.
