It it better to buy an sr-2 system for like $5000 or buy like 30+ triple core systems that could be built for the same price? ppd/$ wise does this system produce more points than say 30 Athlon II X3 445 systems with 2gb of ram each that would probably cost about the same.

I just switched from running multiple clients to the smp and my points doubled on my q8200 rig. Its good to help fold to cure cancer but competition is what drives so many people to fold. There are some valid points here and not addressing them is just gonna end up hurting everyone involved.

It wouldn't help too much even if they were touching each other. Maybe you should try Nexus FRIZZBEE or something like that.

I tried this, but it turned out to be too complicated for my simple mind. I just opened a console client with my gui client and boinc at 50%. That seems to be working fine on my q8200. Thanks all.

You can get a E2140 Dual core for like $50. That might work better. You will have make sure bios is updated.
