Amazon had them listed for $799 for a week or two in March with a four to eight week delivery window. That's when I ordered mine. Presumably, once they sold the entirety of the allocation they were expecting, they pulled their own listing. Right now there's a third-party seller on the same page...
It's hard to see in the photo, but the bezel is noticeably displaced. It curves high like it missed a clip during installation or something. Regardless of the cause, it's a manufacturing defect, to be sure.
I would absolutely just send it in for a refund and order another, except that Amazon...
Apologies for the cruddy picture. This monitor is proving difficult to photograph. It's more apparent at high angles and with solid colors.
Amazon tells me they don't have any to spare for exchange and Philips is referring me to Amazon for replacement. The only redress I have right now is...
I'm running a 7870 for the time being. I'm in it for the workspace, not necessarily to game. I'm typically on a couple year lag on games anyway, so I'm not sweating it too much right now.
My monitor from (US) Amazon showed up a day early. Ordered it on March 9. Didn't have much time to set it up before I had to run, but I did get it unpacked and set up. Quick initial impressions:
It comes with a weird assortment of cables; power, HDMI, 3.5mm stereo patch, VGA, and RS232. No...
Well, if my monitor was going to arrive on April 2, Amazon should have shipped today. I got no such notification. Anybody have a projected arrival date earlier than that? Have you shipped yet?
Interesting. I just updated my shipping info (just reconfirmed and saved the original info) and it now gives me a range of April 2 - April 24.
I'm really hoping for that April 2.
Yours says a firm April 9? My purchase confirmation has a pretty huge range. I ordered mine on March 9th and I've got a delivery estimate of April 2 - May 15.
I'd prefer to keep it under $100, if possible. I'm not looking for anything fancy.
The chipset doesn't make any real difference to me. If there are better options than P35, I'm happy to go for it.
I've got an Abit IP35-E that crapped out on me. I was kind of expecting to get some new hardware later this year but I'm not quite ready to go whole hog just yet. So I'm looking for a replacement motherboard to hold me over for a while.
I've got a E4400 Allendale and four sticks of 800 MHz...
Ah, gotcha. Nope. Same deal in all network "locations."
I'm about ready to just accept that this will never work. I can't understand why. I had the same problem with this machine when it had XP. Other XP machines in the house were configured exactly the same way and had no problems. I'm about...
I'm running the Windows 7 RC on my desktop machine and I just want to share a folder on my network without requiring login credentials every time. I've tried everything I can think of and subsequent searching provides no help.
I set the sharing and security permissions to allow access to...
So Target has a LCM22W3 on sale next week for $167. I'm considering going out today and investigating the possibility of buying it now and getting it adjusted on Friday.
Any glaring problems with this monitor? For less than two-hundred bones I can't imagine it's exactly top of the line, but...
That's precisely what I've done, but it seems like it's just scaling my desktop down to 1600x1200 and displaying it full screen instead of panning like before.
Yeah, something like that. It pretty much looks like what you would get if you resized an image of text down and it antialiased it...
Alright, so after messing with it a bit further, it seems as if it's still broken. I suspect that the Catalyst drivers are still forcing 1600x1200 and just scaling my 1920x1440 desktop down to that.
I tracked the problem down to an error in my monitor reporting the proper DDC information to...
$300 is way too much to spend on a video card just to play WoW. I've got a x1950 Pro and I get something like 70-80 frames per second at 1920x1440 with everything on maximum in WoW.
If he's playing at a less excessive resolution, you could get away with something a fair bit cheaper than...
Yeah, it is technically. It seems pretty benign to me, though. I mean, what's he going to do with just one video file if he doesn't actually have a copy of the game? I'd be inclined to help myself, but I loaned my copy of Torment to a friend years ago and sadly, it's been lost somewhere along...
In case anyone cares, I think I've got it worked out. I uninstalled all of the ATI configuration tools and display drivers and installed just the latest base drivers. The text looked fine but that gave me the same problem of not getting higher than 1600x1200. Then I used ATI Tray Tools to...
So I just got a bunch of new hardware. I've got an X1950. It's the first ATI card I've used and I'm having some rather annoying issues with it. At first, I installed just the regular drivers but that wouldn't let me use a resolution greater than 1600 x 1200 without scrolling. So I installed the...
Yeah, the manual says to connect it, but it's kind of noncommittal about the other power connections. It pretty much just tells you to plug in whatever fits so I wasn't too sure.
I just got new hardware and I'm putting it all together. It's been a long time since I've assembled a machine so I'm a bit disoriented about some of this newfangled equipment (Evidently, CPU's don't come with pins anymore. Wild.).
So anyway the Abit IP35 has a regular peripheral molex...
So, my current machine is limping along on mostly circa-2000 and hand-me-down hardware, so I've missed most of the PC titles that have come out in the last several years. I've got boxes of shiny new hardware winging their way to me as I type, so it's about time to catch up.
I intend to pick...
What model did the box say? My Best Buy only had boxes labeled ST3500641AS and not ST3500630AS.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just bit it and bought one to see for myself. It's labeled 641 on the outside but it's a 630 inside.
The XT's are a bit spendy for my pocketbook, I think. I was really looking into the Pros. Are the 512 meg versions worth the extra money? I've seen the Sapphires for $160-ish and that's right about my price range but the $30 difference could go towards more worthy upgrades if it's not worth the...
So I've been out of the loop for quite some time now and I'm putting together a new system. Just about everything I read points to the X1950 (I'm looking at the Pro) as the go-to card. So near as I can tell, there really isn't anything worth spending the money on between it and the 8800's.
Am...
Sorry about that. Well, I've got a 22" CRT that I run at 1920 x 1440 desktop resolution, but I have no illusions of maxing that out under anything intensive. Gaming at the 1280 range or so is satisfactory. I've got a perfectly serviceable IDE DVD burner. I guess it'd be nice to go SATA on that...
Thanks. I suppose I'm a bit of a fool for not having read the pinned guide.
That actually helps quite a bit. I really needed a bit of a jumping-off point. Now I have a reasonable idea of what to look for. Thanks.
Hello everybody. I'm a returning [H] member from way back. I'm currently running on some really old hardware and I've recently come into a bit of extra money so I've decided to spend a little to upgrade my machine. I've been out of the loop so long, though, that I have no idea of where to start...
Yes, tragically, I've tried punching "carbon fiber cloth" into Google already. I'm not stupid. I'm looking for a rather specific site. Carbon fiber has a shelf life and this place used to get ahold of the remainders of expired reels from aerospace manufacturers. While it wasn't so useful if you...
