OK, RAM upgrade and new PSU are installed. We will give it a few days to see if that resolves the DPM issues.

    Replacing Microsoft DPM

That is a great suggestion. I will see what the upgrades I have ordered achieve. If they are not doing the job I will look into the RAID card. Is there any way to actually test the performance of the card? I thought this was a hardware driven card, but looking at it now I don't think it is...

    Replacing Microsoft DPM

I will have to check on that. I am 99% sure that it is a PCI-X Highpoint Rocketraid 2220 found here: http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA/rr2220.htm The server is too old to have any PCIe slots unfortunately. It may just need an all-around upgrade in the near future. As mentioned before, I...

    Replacing Microsoft DPM

Thanks for the suggestions guys. After a couple of days with no replies I thought this was quite dead. I will definitely grab a copy of Backup Exec and a couple of the others to test. I have had some suggestions that upgrading the RAM might help those DPM issues and the server has started...

    Replacing Microsoft DPM

Well, DPM is driving me absolutely nuts. For those who have not heard of it, the software is Microsoft Data Protection Manager. It is a great concept, but I am spending about 60% of my time babysitting it and I am fed up. Let me explain in detail. I have 3 servers, one is an SBS server...

Blu-ray Winning Studio War, Needs To Sway Consumers

As someone who is excited about HD media and formats I have been firly frustrated with BR. I own a combo player (Samsung BP-UP5000) and I absolutely love it. The picture is stunning from both HD and BR. Every HD disk I have put in the player has run flawlessly. However, I have had problems...

    Wall Mountable 2.0 Speakers

I am hoping to avoid building shelves. I would like something that I can get a wall mount bracket for. Quality is not a huge deal as this will be used exclusively for business purposes. We have a lot of people moving around in this area and I don't want to see a decent set of speakers knocked...

    Wall Mountable 2.0 Speakers

Hey guys. I am having the hardest time finding some wall mountable 2.0 speakers to use for a conference room. I just need some relatively decent speakers that I can hook up to a laptop along with the VGA Projector connection so I can have video and sound. Anyone have any suggestions? I...

    Need some old school help

Wow, thanks! Fortunately though, all is working. I am restoring the needed tapes as we speak. I brought in an old throw-away machine from home and installed freeDOS on it and everything went very smoothly. I am truly impressed that after 10 years in storage I only have had one bad tape...

    Need some old school help

The backup software is Colorado Backup. HP did buy Colorado and I have checked their site. The only thing available is Colorado Backup. I did do a little hunting on the internet for Colorado Backup II which HP released for Windows 95 and I tried that, but without success. I have all...

    Need some old school help

OK. I need some brainstorming here. My boos has asked me to recover some data off of some 10 year old backup tapes. I did a bit of research and discovered that the drive that the tapes originally went with is a Colorado Trakker 350 or Jumbo 350. I went on eBay and found a Colorado...

    Abit AW8, Uguru, and Vista

That was my bad. Its a Pentium 4 D 3.2. I have built a ton of C2D systems lately and forgot that mine was just a hair too old. Anyway, I finally went back to basics and decided to troubleshoot temps and stuff and it seems that the chipset might be overheating. I removed the side of the...

    Abit AW8, Uguru, and Vista

It is the 3.103 version. That is true about the fan noise. The odd thing to me is that it never happened when I had XP installed, even during burn in. But with Vista on there it started happening when under load the first day I installed it. Fortunately it is more of an annoyance than...

    Sharepoint and Full Text Search

We are using whatever comes with SBS2003. We installed SQL 2000 from the premium services disk. I am not the one who actually set it up so I am not 100% certain. I do know that full text search does seem to be enabled for the default database, it is only the sharepoint database that does not...

    Sharepoint and Full Text Search

OK. It appears you are dead on Pigster. The full text search does seem to be installed in SQL but the sharepoint is not seeing it. We have converted sharepoint over to SQL, but I still can not get it to work. Is there a trick to getting search installed in the specific sharepoint instance...

    Vista DVD Burning

Cool. Both imgburn and deepburner are vista compatible. Deep Burner seems to be the answer to my problems though. I have an older copy of Nero (Ver 6.6), but it is of course not compatible with Vista and I am not too excited to purchase a copy when all I do are data cds and dvds. Ideally...

    Vista DVD Burning

LOL. Well, I got my data disc burned. I used CD Burner Xp Pro to create the ISO (It will not detect my burner in Vista. Then I was able to use the Alcohol 120% demo to burn the ISO. So I got it done, but in a really ugly way. I am still working on figuring out why the Vista native stuff...

    Vista DVD Burning

Yeah, in my research on this issue I ran into a place where an MS programmer was talking about how Vista was supposed to be able to burn iso files nativley as well, but they did not finish the programming in time so they cut the feature. I guess I could try to make a data iso and then burn...

Bluescreen issues - I am at the end of my rope.

Another update. Just spoke with Intel and they are thinking that OCZ RAM is incompatible with the Intel Motherboard. I guess I will contact OCZ and see what they have to say. Geez. Maybe I will also poke around the office and see if we have any non-OCZ DDR2. edit: I contacted OCZ and...

Bluescreen issues - I am at the end of my rope.

Good plan. BEfore I replaced the CPU and RAM that is exaclty what I did and the exact system I used. if I still have crashes after this Intel utility I will do so. So far I am running rock solid in the Intel tests. Loaded CPU temp is 50-51C I am finally having some hope.

Bluescreen issues - I am at the end of my rope.

Here is something weird. I think it might just be Prime95. I am currently running Intel's stress utility. It is running the CPU at 100% (both cores instead of the 1 core max that I had Prime95 on) and testing 2d/3d video, RAM, Disks, and network all simultaneously and it is rock solid for...
