I'm still having this problem if anyone can help.

    Computer won't stay powered off

I was running Vista 64x prior to upgrading to Windows 7 64x RC1. I have no doubt it's an issue with Windows 7 but it's very odd because when I first upgraded I didn't have this problem. It just spurred up out of the blue last week. I did google this and found that many people with ASUS mobos...

    Computer won't stay powered off

If it was only that easy :p But I checked my BIOS settings and couldn't find anything there that would indicate doing this. Any other suggestions?

    Computer won't stay powered off

Build in sig but here's a summary: Windows 7 64x RC1 E8500 CPU ASUS P-5Q E Xfire Radeon 4850 An out of the blue problem, whenever I try to shut down my computer or put it in sleep mode, it'll just fire right back up. It'll go through the shut down process, power off for a second, and then...

    Catalyst 8.12 Hotfix

I don't even have that problem so I'm not going to bother, even though I have Crossfire disable 90% of the time anyways. Most games have a lot of problems with it or/and just don't support it.

    Catalyst 8.12 Hotfix

Do I need to go through the same routine of uninstalling previous drivers, reboot, driver sweep, reboot, install just hotfix or do I simply install over 8.12 drivers and reboot?

GTA 4 Why do we put up with this crap?

Because you already paid your $50 for the game. R* wins. Ojax; I'm playing GTA IV on a two week old computer (in sig), and it is the only game I have played yet that doesn't run smoothly; If Crysis can run at 60 FPS, GTA IV should be running at 120. GTA IV is the victim of so many...

    4850 Crossfire vs. GTX 260

You may be right about high textures needing 768mb (and by the way, Crossfire = 1gb with my setup) but you're wrong. GTA IV is a poor port. Read up on it. Regarding 4850 temps, I usually stay at 60 degrees under load. But I have a lot more cooling than most people, including a desktop fan...

gta 4 what one to buy?

At this point, Xbox 360. PC version looks worse than console right now, runs slightly slower (hardware pending), doesn't get exclusive DLC (as far as we know), has a fair amount of issues and bugs, and I personally prefer to use a controller with this game (yes, I know you can use a xbox 360...

    GTA IV PC Benchmarks

The game looks like shit to me, even on high settings. I was under the impression that the PC port was suppose to have much better graphics than the Xbox 360 version. Also, the beta catalyst drivers and disabling crossfire helped my overall performance, so you may want to try that. Hoping...

    4850 Crossfire vs. GTX 260

Go crossfire. Much more value for your money and down right better performer IMO. I haven't come across a game yet that I can't run at 1920x1200 on high settings, except for GTA IV but that's a freak of nature due to the many many many issues it has.

    Ati catalyst 8.12 beta

I went ahead and just installed the beta drivers and i can confirm that they help GTA IV performance, but its still not perfect. I seem to be getting the same average 30 FPS, but its a lot smoother so its more playable. I still think i should have at least 40 FPS @ 1680x1050 with my rig.

    Ati catalyst 8.12 beta

I've read the beta drivers also greatly help GTA IV performance. Anyone here experience that? I'm not ballsy enough to try out the beta drivers just yet ;)

Left 4 Dead Gameplay Performance and IQ @ [H]

I personally love the Source engine. After all these years it's still proven to be a beautiful and downright powerful graphics engine. Best of all, it's so easy on the hardware, they way ALL PC games should be. L4D is beautiful even though it's ugly. Maybe that's because I'm a filmmaker and I...

Fallout 3 Gameplay Performance and Image Quality @ [H]

I've experienced a good amount of crashing, weak performance, artificating, and other problems when Crossfire is enabled. When Crossfire is disabled, the game runs beauitfully. Not a major problem since I'm still able to run the game on high settings at 1680x1050 with just one 4850.

    GTA IV PC Benchmarks

I've tried to mess with the settings, lower everything to the lowest possible, but as you know there isn't much customization. There's only the two settings really. And for some reason, I can't even run this game at 1920x1200, it won't let me select it. 1680x1050 is the highest I can go! And...

Gaming Headphones: Does surround sound really exist?

I'm in the market for a nice pair of gaming headphones. I've heard great things about the Sennheiser HD-555. I'm sure they produce great quality sound. However, I would like a surround sound set, but does that even truly exist? I've heard the X-Fi sound cards do a great job of emulating...

Crossfire is broken in Fallout 3

I get great frame rates on high settings plus x4aa at 1920x1200. Guess I'm lucky? I will try with xfire off to see if it improves, but I really don't need to.

    4850 1GB/512MB or 4870? Upgrade for Left 4 Dead

With my build (in sig) I am running L4D completely maxed out, 4x AA, at 1920x1200 without a problem. Never slows down. If you can't do Xfire 4850 512MB, (1) 4850 1GB will do great.

quick opinion needed 4850 vs 9800gt

Go with the 4850. I've been a Nvidia guy all my life and I just built my first ATI rig (in sig) and it's been nothing short of amazing in performance and ease of setup. I haven't even OCed yet and I doubt that I will because I'm getting 60+ FPS at 1920x1200 on maxed out settings on every game...

    HD 4850 Temperature Questions

Xfire 4850 at 100% fan duty isn't that loud, at least not for me. Anyways my current idle temps are GPU0 38 degrees, GPU1 30 degrees. Load temps are average 60 degrees after a few hours. So if you are getting high idle temps, something is out of whack or you just need to suck it up and...

    4850 vs 9800gtx

Can't compare to the 9800gtx, but my new rig (in sig) is unstoppable. L4D, 1920x1200 maxed out. Doesn't drop below 60. I can even record with fraps and not have it miss a beat. It absolutely beats any SLi setup I've done in the past. Fallout 3, same deal. I'm installing CoD4 now but I expect...

Gateway FX6800-01e vs. CyberPower Gamer Infinity 800

I am currently in the midst of trying to get my latest build (in sig) up and running, but my patients is short and I am seriously considering just returning everything and buying a pre-built computer. After some researching, I've came up with either the Gateway FX6800-01e or a more...

I secured the latch. I installed the CPU right then. I am getting so restless with this. Next time, I'm buying pre-built.

    First boot troubles

I'm thinking maybe the CPU isn't on right. Do they snap into place or do you just place them and line them up on the connector and clamp down the bracket? (I did the latter). Putting on the CPU fan was such a bitch, took forever to get right, I am so reluctant to take it off again.

    First boot troubles

You mean hook up an actual speaker set to the onboard audio through the ports on the back of the computer/mobo? I tried that, didn't hear any beeps. Would I even get sound through the audio ports yet before setting up the BIOS?
