    Are you bending your alder-lake?

The Thermal Grizzly is 36 bucks if you can find it and I’m not opposed to paying a premium for it to support them. Maybe Thermalright ripped it off or maybe not but how many ways can a hunk of metal be milled to exactly for the socket and cpu in this case? Any other such product would probably...

What combo can cool a i9-12900?

That Amazon case looks interesting especially for the price so nice find. OP may want to look hard at that one. I like the proportions but not crazy about the TG. Yeah plus one for tuning the cpu. I just checked “enforce all limits” in bios for my 12700k and loss in performance in anything...

    Downgrade to upgrade?

The AM4 platform will have longer legs as games get more multi threaded. The 6700k while still capable is hampered by its thread count already on some occasions. Unless you want to get into a ddr5 platform , meaning living with the 6700k and selling all your AMD stuff then upgrade sooner, I’d...

What combo can cool a i9-12900?

I want to say it’s something like 33 liters so not sff - meaning 20L or less -but the Fractal Meshify C mini was the best all around compact mATX case for a long time. Maybe still is. The Noctua D15 fits as well as 315mm GPUs and has up to 280mm front aio support. This may take some gpu length...

What combo can cool a i9-12900?

Nor I. I do a lot of sff building and wouldn’t compromise noise/temps to the levels needed for such a build personally.

What combo can cool a i9-12900?

The Sliger S620 can take the D15. Still you may have to tune your 12900 for sustained loads like renders and such.

    transient power consumption spikes

I watched this last night. Super interesting and does bring up some valid concerns. Going forward regarding the rumored power needs of the next gen GPUs especially. I’m sticking to my principles of living in the 250W range of performance for heat and noise alone.

I bought the Tuf 3070ti at 649 ( Newegg had that promo code for $50 off a while back) and the card is terrific. It performs as expected and stays cool. I would like the 3070s to be under 600 by now but at some point the extra 20-70 bucks is just putting in an hour or two of overtime at work vs...

12700K and Air cooling (Besides for Dark Rock Pro 4) Avoiding AIO

I run mine under the U12S with the stock case fans in a O11 Air Mini case the temps are absolutely fine. My ambient temps are always cool at 19-21c where the PC sits for some context. The 6500xt and 6400: Meet your next gpu, PC gaming peasants.

Indeed and early buzz on the next gen AMD APUs are to replace entry level DGPUS even for gaming. So we could see something like the "entry" DGPUs for gaming staying around $300 new and anything under that will be used or APUs.

Upgrade or wait: mid 2022 edition

Your 2080 has some legs but if you do replace it soon may as well go 3080 12g at least and skip the next gen. This is always the dilemma at this point in the cycle isn’t it? The last few years have made me pretty cynical concerning GPU launches. So get something when you are ready and don’t...

Other than crypto there are only so many buyers for $800+ GPUs and I’m assuming by now most of them have caved. Not many people want more than one or two. Do people actually upgrade just the CPU and keep using existing motherboard?

I do it all the time on used /new parts builds or builds around the house for my kids. Ryzen 7 5800X3D Beats Core i9-12900KS By 16% In Shadow of the Tomb Raider

3600 is the bang for buck and easily obtainable sweet spot for Ryzen 5000. You can get 3600 c16 kits for not too much more than 3200 and just set xmp and go. Any gains over this are squeezed out by tuning and overclocking and while there are some to be had most users don't go ham on it...

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070: up to 30% faster than RTX 3090 in gaming

I’m always shopping in the at 300w or less range power draw for GPUs. Personally I like 250w or less since getting into SFF building and finding that mid to upper mid range performance is fine by me. If that is unplayable in tomorrow’s games then I’ll just do something else.
