I'll add that if you are running an instance and max it out at ~1,000 WU's and it completes before you want to turn on networking you can start a second or third, etc., and run the same project adding another 1,000 units each.
For those of you with fast gaming machines who want to contribute...
Super simple to set up multiple instances. You can load up one with GPU work and turn off the network to that one instance while loading up another with CPU work on another project and control the network activity separately on that instance...
Borderlands 2 was one of the toughest physx titles I can remember. Pretty sure there was a lack of optimization or something just hammering the GPU's. I remember adding a 750ti to a pair of sli'd 780ti's to take the physx stress off the GPU the last time I played around with that title ~2014or...
I order from Newegg still. Known brands with good service aren't an issue. As far as returns go, I've had two EVGA cards from Newegg not work new out of the box. Not damaged in shipping and no signs they had been opened. So, nothing like what GM and others are reporting. Both RMA'd to EVGA with...
I think the important thing will be guiding casual users to the projects that suite them best. Basically, telling them what they can do to help.
The complex setups and changing settings based on each project/event throw off casual DCer's.
This year I'm focusing on efficiency to reduce power...
Evga still has their RTX 3060 available. Good sign, imo, as its been available for a while and only $30 over FE msrp for an AIB card.
Lots of more expensive cards sitting on the site.
IN line for a while and was shown "Add to Cart" button but went OOS once clicked.
Still, looks like stock is coming in and lasting a bit longer. Maybe ppl waiting to see what prices do after the "tariff's" end...or, hopefully, ppl are done with $800+ cards from NV.
This one will be GPU dominant. We last ran these on a PG Challenge at the end of 2020. GFN-18, 19 and 20.
On the 19's my GTX1060 3G gets a task completed in ~2.5 hours. 3090 in under 30 min.
So, anyone that has a GPU with some spare cycles can help a lot. Run a single gaming rig overnight...
I just got and EVGA notify today for a 3060 Black 12G-P5-3655-KR - the $400 card.

Will be in next week.
Went back to EVGA and now see this:
If you are looking for higher end cards then It's a good source. If you are looking for 3060's unbundled for under $500 then good luck.
I've managed 3-4 from them in the past 3-4 mos. Overpayed, but, not as much as other places and the bundles I selected I can use (PSU's and RAM). Was selected...
