Initially I felt the same way - but now I think Epic is taking the extremely long view. Take it this way: HOW would you possibly begin to compete with Steam, honestly, as an actual platform? Forget niche DRMs like Origin, I'm talking an entire platform.
Here's when it changed my mind - after...
I would be extremely surprised if was something provable as a policy of Valve - at the most, some manager might have intimated TOS violations which would get them delisted but there's not going to be anything listed as "If you sell your game somewhere else, we will delist you." They would have...
Yeah, I knew it was a gamble - here's the thing - it IS running at what appears to be the same speed as the other kit I had, which was a 4 x 8 gb of 3200 Corsair - but I wanted 64 gb. Maybe someone else can figure out a way.
Before I had some 3200 ram, that measured 1600 Mhz of course, - so if this is advertised as 4400, it is reading 900 less than it should - I've swapped it out a handful of times -I haven't messed with XMP before but tried it a few times - so far I could never get this to boot to the ratedd 4400...
A few reviews state the memory can't be mixed reliably, even with the same kit. I ordered 2, going for 64 gb, so we'll see... hopefully the issues stem from OCing, which linked review says these have issues with. (Fine by me)
If you can afford it, the Index is still an awesome piece of tech - I use it as a VR developer - but like others have said, Quest 2 is a good starting point until you know VR is for you
All I can say is, good luck OP - I feel for you. This would suck any normal year but it's even shittier because of the bullshit scalpers/miners. I hope it works out for you - I've got a 1080 TI and I might just repaste it just as a precaution, it's certainly been long enough
The nostalgia is real - I remember staying out all night playing this game, using force choke and just dropping people off the walkways on that one map with nothing but pits and walkways.
I think you could make an entire game with just that gameplay mechanism (Force Unleash got somewhat there)
Decided against the huge display and picked up a 34 Dark Matter - it's like 3440 x 1440 - this is not my main setup in any case, and I might toss a 2nd monitor in portrait mode, if I need to do that?
Most games have locked FPS option so if I need to I can set that; I'm fine with 60 fps.... I...
I'm thinking of upgrading from my current setup, a 32 QHD HP Omen with a 27 inch FHD Dell monitor on each side. While I used to game back in the day and occasionally still do, my standards were such that I never really felt the need for more than 60 FPS - generally I try to follow the "unseen...
They are taking the long-view and I think it will actually work to some affect - what is Steam making every year, with little effort on Valve's part? is it 4 billion now? Probably more. Epic wants a piece of that and they'll get it - the hardest part was getting peoplse to install new software...
the most important thing out of everything here is to check the label of the chair in the back for its manufacture date - because that's the timeframe of your warranty - Steelcase will honor it and most likely the manufacture date is not the beginning of your warranty that's when it was first...
Dark is right. It's still unsettling to me to confront this - I got a little into mindfulness meditation, and the more aware you are of the absolute spontaneity of your thoughts, the more you see how little free will you actually have. Even reading this statement, your reaction - if it matches...
On an electronic copy??? What is this company, Nvidia?
(yes I know software != hardware but I don't believe their supply problems were involuntary by any means.
I hope all scalpers die or change. That might sound harsh, let's be honest, I don't game like I used to and don't "need" the card so it's not like it's affecting me much. But the type of person who looks at that situation and thinks, how can I unfairly take advantage of this system? I'm not...
Saw this - apparently it's mostly the power draw, I would have thought more issues from the software side but I guess not. I'm still not convinced, since the article says they aren't offering quad builds to most customers. All they said was you need a 20 amp circuit, that's not a huge problem...
I go back and forth with this. It's like the anti-bullying stuff I see in schools. Part of me thinks we are coddling the kids. But the, I think, sensible part of me rightly asks the questions, "wait, am I just LETTING a bully beat up a kid, just to help make him tough? surely there's a better...
I'm glad someone was here to post this.
This guy does a decent job of explaining what's going on, if this breakthrough is substantial, he'll probably do an update.
I think this is important to remember but I also think you aren't allowing for the outliers that push the boundaries. We are learning more about the brain and our concept of "free will" is starting to erode but we are understand much more about what "pushes OUR buttons." An AI won't fatigue or...
But Galileo wasn't asking permission to mess with the sun's orbit or something that could kill everyone. Heresy/faith is not the leading wall being imposed here.
My question is, how difficult is it to simply have a shackled, rate-limited AI? Can't you control the actual cycle rate of the CPU...
You guys remember having to configure your dialup modem to play coop/vs on Doom? I still can't remember how my friend and I figured it out, without the use of any search engine.
How much quicker now that we are literally at stay at home order will the FDA approval process take? What ELSE are they approving right now?
More importantly, is the approval process mainly for anaphylaxis/side effects, or just so the drug actually does vaccinate?
The mistake I made was waiting too long before getting into big battles. I should have gone the vassal route instead of making my own kingdom first. This game is all about the big battles and they are amazing.
Pro tip - if you lock items in your inventory, you can click SELL ALL at the top and it won't sell them...nice thing is, you can sell manually sell an item that is locked too....so basically, lock all your food and your horses and sell everything else easily, no more clicking manually...
Try to get a workshop with villages that create the raw resources. You start to get decent income though not the insane levels mentioned when there was a bug. (I have too I am making 250 or so each day, but I spent about 30k for both)
I'm convinced some of these obscure, "high-value" auctions/sales are completely inflated by simply selling it to someone you know, swapping digital currency for real currency and then repeating every so often. It's not worth what the buyer will pay, it's worth what the buyer thinks OTHER buyers...
I remember this thing. I also remember being a 12 year old pissed that Nintendo didn't want to work with Sony. Imagine how great the Nintendo 64 would be if Nintendo's game designed had been combined with some good hardware? Cartridges my ass.
Omg this was the first time I truly ever nerded on tech stuff. I think I was 10 or 11. I knew ALL about this console (at least whatever Nintendo Power "reported" ). There was supposed to be an optical drive at one point and a 3D version of Final Fantasy that had never been released. I'm...
There are a bunch of office resellers and liquidators online, that sell these regularly for a few hundred bucks. I believe their business model is to show up at a foreclosure and buy everything, cubicles, chairs and all, and then sell them online. I'm not sure if there is a counterfeit market...
Is this a bandwidth problem? I'm curious what would happen if you plugged a really good pair of headphones (wired) into a bluetooth speaker and then played TO the speaker from your phone.
