    Anyone else got a 6700XT?

For sure: like I mentioned in my post, I got my RX 6700 XT on its release date last year (March 18th, 2021) -- as for the outside queues for Micro Center, that pretty much died down since late January/early February (as the various Micro Center-focused Discords I'm on have noted); you can...

    Anyone else got a 6700XT?

Yes: got a stock AMD version from Micro Center (US tech-oriented physical retailer) on the day of release (waited outside), at the MSRP of $479 USD (before tax). The RX 6700 XT was trashed by a lot of online tech websites (that seemingly ignored the reality of current COVID-19 pandemic...

Is the RX 6900 XT at $1500 a good buy now? Or wait?

If there's a Micro Center near your neck of the woods, you need to be on one of the Discord channels that cover delivery times/inventory (some kind folks will usually post up photos of the stuff available that particular day, once they "win" their spot in the GPU lottery, and are in-store...

Fusion reactor actually put out more energy than it consumed for the first time ever

I agree, but I'll bet that 95% (or more) of the folks on the street (including many well-educated types) have absolutely no idea what RBMK/Windscale/etc means. Trying to get more nuclear reactors built in the US, might be the only thing that unites both the Republican & Democratic parties...

Fusion reactor actually put out more energy than it consumed for the first time ever

Problem is, we've been 'conditioned' by decades' worth of movies/media, to think of nuclear reactors as little more than ticking nuclear bombs, with a teeny-tiny, weak "harness" for us to use. I'm almost 100% certain, that if you asked someone on the street how good a modern nuclear reactor is...

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Yeah, it's all a Wild West right now, and no lack of folks doing their best to part other folks' money from their wallets, as usual (with good ol' snake-oil, conveniently relabeled for this modern age).

    Headset/mic suggestions

I'd recommend this over all the suggestions that others have posted: Sennheiser PC 38x $129 USD, but they are very, very good (and more comfortable than the EPOS/Sennheiser mashup that is the GSP line). Note that this is an open-back headset (so, folks might be able to hear what's coming out...

    S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl

Admittedly, some of the mods up the difficulty of the Stalker series to a whole new level of "Misery" ;)

    Sennheiser sells off headphone business

If you're going the HD8XX route, you're going through Drop.com initially for support; not so much Sennheiser (or Sonova), as Drop is the "middleman". In any case, if you buy an HD800/800s via Amazon (or some other retailer), your return policy could be pretty good (depending on retailer, as usual).

    6700 Speculation & Rumors (NOT 6800/6900x)

Oh yeah, no way is the RX 6700 XT worth $779 USD and up. Only way that'd even work, is if you can buy the 6700 XT at that inflated price, sell your old video card, and still come out with at least a 10% or more profit. Otherwise, heck no.

    6700 Speculation & Rumors (NOT 6800/6900x)

Checking my local MC right now, they have only 1 reference card @ $479USD and 12 Powercolor Red Devils @ $819USD -- but I just talked on Discord w/a guy who was just there, and he says that there's only 1 Red Devil left; no other RX 6700 XTs whatsoever (website is probably updated slowly, as...

    6700 Speculation & Rumors (NOT 6800/6900x)

Just got back 30 min ago from my local MC on the East Coast -- got there 7:21am EST, had a reference RX 6700 XT (from Sapphire) in my hands by 9:45am (for $479 USD). And there were guys behind me that got reference cards, too -- definitely not some paper launch. Microcenter's QR check-in...

LG Unveils Its 1st QNED Mini LED TV with Up to 2500 Dimming Zones

From everything I've read, the 4K streams still aren't as good as 4K Blu-Rays in HDR (Dolby Vision, etc). I looked at a side-by-side comparison of the Star Wars Original Trilogy recently, and the streams have that grey, washed-out look. 4K HDR looked incredibly vivid and vibrant (especially in...

Should the 5700xt be considered one of the greatest of all time?

Well, my 5700XT is good for what it is (decent bang-for-buck placeholder that's roughly equivalent to a RTX 2070), but hardly a revolutionary card, even upon release. It still is doing a decent job "placeholding" as I wait for more inventory from both NVIDIA/AMD (don't really have the time to...

    AMD at CES 2021 @ 10am CST

    Fallout 4

I definitely enjoy Fallout 4 -- with extensive modding ;D On a side note, the art direction in 4 seems a LOT worse than 3, or even F:NV (despite being the technically superior game). Quests aren't as immersive as in either 3 or NV. FPS elements in 4 (as you mentioned) are the best out of the 3...

    I Bought a 6900 XT Today!

The Micro Center closest to me (Flushing, NY) also has the hand sanitizer/mask checking in full effect, and also had days where they shut down for deep cleaning -- I feel very secure in there.

EVGA NU vs Soundblaster X AE-5/9?

I've been (slowly) hearing some good things abou the AE-9 series, but passed on it some months back, in favor of the SMSL M500 external DAC/AMP (I previously had a Sound Blaster X7 Limited Edition).

Comcast data caps are coming in January all over the place

As others have said, depends on regional competition. Can't speak for elsewhere in the US, but here in NYC, Verizon is in a price war w/Spectrum, and so I haven't heard a peep about caps from either company (Spectrum is currently offering 400Gbit connections for $69.99 & 940Gbit @ $109.99). My...

    I Bought a 6800 / 6800 XT Today!

What I heard over on TPU forums, is that the chip itself is quite expensive (AMD is not selling them cheap), so retailers/AIBs definitely have an "incentive" to price up, since profit margins are (even more) razor-thin than usual for RX 6xxx. Maybe FrgMstr will have more info? He's already...

    Where Gaming Begins: Ep. 2 | AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards - 11am CDT 10/28/20

My gut feeling tells me that NVIDIA will have plenty of "Ti" models in stock, unlike the (deliberate?) debacle with the non-Ti models. Just a feeling -- maybe FrgMstr can give some hints about this?

    Where Gaming Begins: Ep. 2 | AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards - 11am CDT 10/28/20

I'm pretty sure that AMD thought NVIDIA was gonna stick with recent protocol, and have the xx70 match up to the previous "near-top-tier" performer, like the 1070 was to the GTX 980/980 Ti, and the 2070 was to the 1080/1080 Ti -- seems to have been a very smart bet, given that NVIDIA "baked" that...

    Where Gaming Begins: Ep. 2 | AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards - 11am CDT 10/28/20

Funny you mention that ... over @ r/AMD, a number of bitter fanboys (burned 3080/3090 buyers?) are angrily growling about how AMD doesn't have DLSS or effective ray-tracing, while the rest of r/AMD is quite happy.

    Where Gaming Begins: Ep. 2 | AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards - 11am CDT 10/28/20

TPU already has the 3070 FE review, as does other sites; I'm sure that AMD calculated that 3070 would be around 2080 Ti performance (give or take a few %), and adjusted pricing/performance on the 6800 to reflect that (a solid, initial 15% across the board over 2080 Ti would really hurt what the...

Counterfeit MDR-V6 headphones comparison w/ Pics

On the TV/film sets I've been on (quite a few), I haven't actually seen a single MDR-V6 (so, maybe not so common anymore), but I do see a TON of MDR-7506 ... to the point where I'm surprised if I don't see one (or more) being used during the shoots. Side note: there's also this little gray...

    Looking for a gaming chair.

I'd say the same about the Noblechairs Epic: quite comfortable, but not "plush" -- Kyle was right on the money with his Noblechairs review (from a few years' back), when he mentioned that Noblechairs' design was like the Mercedes-Benz designs of the 80s and 90s. With "plush" chairs, my butt will...

    Creative X7 dying need a sound-card replacement

Just to toss another contender into the ring: try the Topping L30 Amp + Topping D30 DAC (as a stack -- they are $129USD each, for total of $258USD). The numbers on the L30 alone, are pretty freaking incredible, as per the recent Audiosciencereview: Topping L30 review Incredible enough, to...

    Move to "Gaming Headset"?

Yeah, funny how the various "revisions" of the original Sennheiser PC 360 have held up quite well over the years (PC 360, G4ME, Game One, PC 373, PC 37x, etc). I do think that if Sennheiser wants to put pressure on the likes of Cooler Master (MH751/752) or Kingston (HyperX lineup), they need to...

    Creative X7 dying need a sound-card replacement

Of those three options, I'd go w/the Asgard 3 + Modius combo. Another (money-saving) option to consider from Schiit is their "gamer-focused" Hel (if you need a good mic input) -- I've heard a number of good things about it (haven't seriously read into the Hel yet, though).

    Looking for a gaming chair.

I have both the Noblechairs Epic and the ErgoChair2, and IMHO the Noblechairs Epic blows the ErgoChair 2 out of the water, any day of the week. A good option for the Noblechairs line is to buy some covers for those plastic arm rests: this is the one I went with for the Noblechairs Epic --...

    Creative X7 dying need a sound-card replacement

Wouldn't really go with the AE-5 as that is more of a sidegrade/downgrade (if you're fond of the X7's I/O versatility). The AE-9 "might" be somewhat of an upgrade, but personally I wouldn't go in that direction (I briefly considered it [when it was time for me to move on from my X7 LE], then...

Is the Sound Blaster worth today

From what I've read, the ROG Rampage VI Extreme has a decent DAC (ESS 9018AQ2C) which is also used by SMSL and Sabaj in their under-$100USD "portable headphone amp dongle" offerings (in particular, the Sabaj Da3, which slaps the Audioquest Dragonfly Black silly). No idea about the...

Is the Sound Blaster worth today

It's not the DAC that counts, but the overall implementation. With that being said, the AE-5 is "ok" for what it is, as per this review: Review If you're neither doing pro tasks or don't require special "hardware", then no, you don't need the AE-7 (or for that matter, the AE-5). Your...
