How to reverse pins for fan connector?

I've got a Notua 5V 3 pin fan. I bought a CoolerGuys 3 pin to 2 pin adapter with CB-32C Connector. The only problem is I have to plug the CB-32C in backwards on the mobo to get the fan to turn on. Guess this isn't a common problem, I tried googling before I posted here. What is the best way to...

Silent fans for a server rack?

I've got a server rack in a closet I am trying to keep less noisy. What brand/type ofrack mounted fan do you guys recommend? If I could monitor the temp or have it where it auto kicks on and off the fans after the temp hits a certain point, that would be a bonus.

Can't find replacement Noctua fan (noice reduction)

Yes, the space between the tabs is the pitch, the spacing between the tabs is not the same. Apologies, I wasn't clear. I was trying to get a quieter fan, this sucker spins up and is pretty loud.

    Brocade switches

Not at all bud. Trying to learn and have been reading a lot. Been watching videos on VLAN configuration also. Always more to figure out and learn though :) I went back and read up on trunking. From my understanding, the main purpose of trunking is to carry traffic between switches and maintain...

    Brocade switches

This is my first L3 and I have been reading the config guide trying to figure this out. I may be reading this wrong but isn't a trunk used for when the pfSense box would be the one doing the routing? My plan is to have the ICX6450 do all the routing but manage the switch from the LAN on the...

Can't find replacement Noctua fan (noice reduction)

Hey guys, wanted to post a follow-up. GiGaBiTe, that fan would have been perfect but I didn't realize the original fan had a weird pitch. The SUNON MF40101V2-C01C-A99 37MM 12v has a pitch of 20mm-26mm-26mm. I couldn't find anything that has the same pitch. Before I throw in the towel, just...

    Brocade switches

Thanks Eulogy and MrGuvernment. I went ahead and picked up a new/open box one on eBay. Couple questions though, I see that I need to flash it but what is the purpose of flashing it if it already has an OS on it? This is for a camera network I am trying to isolate and have the Brocade L3 do all...

Can't find replacement Noctua fan (noice reduction)

Thanks GB, yep, meant in parallel. Why would something break? Wouldn't it just not be able to power all the fans? BTW, checked that MOBO fan. The label reads 12V but when you look it up, it says 5V. Also, says it measures 40mm. Not sure what to do, I dont have a meter to check the voltage...

Can't find replacement Noctua fan (noice reduction)

Very interesting Teeny, thank you. I think it might have an extra SATA, I will check. Didn't know about the SATA to 4 pin, that may be a better option in case I dont have a SATA connector. If I can hijack my own thread, how do you power fans in series that use these type of connector? I think...

    Question about proper rack airflow

There is no cool air source, just ambient air in a closet 6' x 3' x 10'. I dont have the unit yet, it should arrive Friday, but looking at pictures it looks like it has fans on the left side and vented grill on the right. Looks like may house 5 fans on left side. Not sure if it is sucking air...

    Question about proper rack airflow

Manual isn't very specific on distances: Leave adequate space at the front and rear of the enclosure for proper ventilation. Do not block, cover or insert objects into the external ventilation openings of the enclosure. Should the fans be pointed in or out?

    Managed PoE switch

Cool cool. Thanks. If I set up a VLAN for the cameras and a VLAN for everything else, would a layer 3 switch be able to communicate between the two VLANs as opposed to a layer 2 which would not? P.S. looking at the Ubiquiti USW‐Pro‐24‐PoE.
