    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I posted about a page ago about a problem with a shadowy line that appeared in the upper left hand side of my screen. I have a Best Buy extended warranty, but they said they would have to ship it off for repair so I called Gateway instead. They are sending me a replacement right off the bat...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Well, I could not find a solution to my problem so I ended up taking it in to Best Buy to use my warranty. When I bought the warranty, the salesman told me that they do not repair these types of LCD screens, so I would be able to just swap it out. When I carried it all the way in, however...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Just an update on my problem: I left it unplugged overnight and this morning it still exhibited the problem. As I hope you can see from the picture, the shadowy line is perfectly diagonal and cuts across the upper corner of the screen. Its very strange! As I said before, it appears on...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

This morning when I turned on my Gateway FPD2485W, I saw a dark line across the upper left portion of the screen. It is like a shadow overlaying the screen. See the picture below: My monitor is connected to my PC via DVI, but the line appears on all inputs, not just DVI. Therefore, it...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I think this could actually be a monitor problem vs. a cable/video card problem. I have narrowed down when this problem occurs. If my monitor goes into sleep mode, when it comes out it has these flashing green dots all over the screen. If I turn it off and on again, they are gone. They only...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I just had a strange problem with my monitor (perhaps not a monitor issue but a vide card issue -- I'd like your advice). While viewing my PC through DVI, I was having flashing green dots appear randomly on different images. These were NOT stuck pixels for two reasons: (1) when I moved the...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Nice to see people in this thread recognizing all of the good qualities of this monitor. For a while you would have thought it was a lemon with all the bashing going on. By the way, some people have been complaining about motion blurring. I barely noticed it on component. However, I...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I think that you will enjoy this monitor as I have been enjoying it. Be aware that for Xbox 360, you may get "tearing" on the highest resolution setting. You may have to go down one setting. It will still look great. For PC use, I find no drawbacks whatsoever. I don't notice image blurring...

Hmm. What exactly do you mean by a power recycle?

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I'm kind of surprised...I haven't checked this thread for a while, and it appears that this monitor is now being really slammed. Perhaps some are getting lemon monitors, but I really don't regret my purchase. I have been enjoying it a lot, and thought others were too! I had no idea people...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Does that look horizontally squished to you? Using the "wide" setting makes it seem horizontally stretched. This 1:1 setting seems to be the accurate picture, but its just strange. Perhaps this game just has a weird resolution. At any rate, since you have confirmed nothing strange with the...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Maybe you guys can help me figure something out about this monitor's 1:1 scaling. The picture below is of the PS3 playing FFXII (a PS2 game). The PS3 plays 480i PS2 games very poorly, but that is a different issue (see...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I got a PS3, and have it hooked up through component (PC is on the DVI). When I set it to 1080p, the screen goes green. Otherwise, it looks fantastic, with no ghosting.

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

About the buzzing: I am pretty picky about these things, and I don't find it to be a problem with this monitor. I can notice it if I try, and if you are working behind the screen on some connections, you can definitely notice it. But it isn't a real problem. That being said, my VAIO...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

A couple of comments/questions: - Like I said before, there is definitely some backlight bleeding, but not nearly as much as the picture that was posted earlier. I notice some in the corners, but none (or barely any) on the top or bottom. But other than being visually displeasing, is there...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Agree with the above regarding buzzing. It is very, very faint. Nothing like my Pioneer 5050HD HDTV.

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Regarding backlight bleeding, I'll see if I can get a picture of it taken tonight. I think there is some, but not much at all. Regarding noise: I watched a few clips of ~640x480 resolution xvid encodings, and naturally some had more noise than others. I didn't watch any DVDs yet, but I'll...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

The problem with setting it to "Game Mode" is that it changes all inputs to this mode. On DVI input (my PC) Game Mode looks terrible. I wish it allowed a "Theme" setting to exist independently for each input.

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

Alright, so I bought the Gateway FPD2485W and my fiancee has not left me yet. So far so good. I have my PC attached through DVI and its fantastic. I've used the EZTune program to calibrate the settings, and I think the colors are just outstanding. I've got my Xbox360 on the VGA input...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

I used to work at Best Buy (thank God I don't anymore). Unless something has changed, its a no questions asked return policy, which means you can return it if it smells funny, much less if it has dead pixels. (I'm pretty sure there is no restocking fee.)

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

My Best Buy has one in stock, which they are holding for me, and I'm picking it up after work. Looking forward to it. I'll test with the 360 and let you know how it goes. This is great; if there are any dead pixels, I can simply return it to Best Buy without hassle.
