Windows 7 will be supported until 2020... Unless you want new hardware, then suck it. I have people in their 70's and 80's that want Windows 7, so now I'll have to find previous generation hardware.
Remove KB4015549 and KB4015546 to get around it until MS pushes another patch to get in the way.
Anything that can be monetized will be eventually. Google as a whole has been very good at doing it very slowly and fairly unobtrusively, giving away much for free and integrating themselves into our daily lives. When it gets to the point where people no longer look at alternative options, where...
Jeez. I'm the computer guy, I've told people for years to use Firefox and Adblock Plus to not have to see ads, now Mozilla has gone and made me a liar.
Just got a call from a client asking about when his Windows 10 would be ready. He agreed with the nagware to reserve his copy and got an email about being in the queue. I told him I didn't know and was surprised that it didn't happen earlier, as I thought most people that reserved it already...
Might & Magic! Xeen! The Sierra Network on the 1200 baud (I think?) modem. I had a little thumb mouse with a blue ball that could hook onto the side of my T2200 386sx (upgraded with a math co-processor!).
Funny how the graphics were so much less but the enjoyment was so much more...
I think it was YOU spouting the end of the PC was neigh at hand. The vast majority of PC users never thought the PC was passe, that they needed to start using their phone and/or tablet for all activities. You spout an awful lot of intelligent insight mixed with a huge amount of sheer silliness...
P.S. Boot up on a stick or disc, system restore, Windows Update and deselect half the updates and try again. If you figure out which update is causing problems let us know.
My kids were annoyed with me for upgrading their pc to 10, but I needed at least one machine in the house to play with it. I've since reverted it to 7.
I've had only 2 service calls from users that upgraded to 10 needing to revert. Reverting was fairly painless. No plans on rolling out 10 to...
I call BS. Anyone who says they moved all their business machines to a brand new, untested, unproven OS is telling fibs, smoking crack or running a business that doesn't rely on PC's to stay in business. Most businesses that hadn't previously moved to Windows 7 from XP did so in the past year...
People who were emotionally invested in 8 will jump to 10 being the End-All of OSes. I'll wait for a good reason to replace 7.
Clean install on a z97 test machine. Fast boot because it loads the UI pronto while continuing to load stuff in the background. Odd little Realtek audio install loop...
Just a few minutes ago an Order Modification Expert told me the laptop I ordered was being delayed because Windows 7 Professional wasn't going to be available until October.
Let's start at the start...
I needed to order a laptop for a client, nothing special, just an $800 17" Inspiron. I...
An opinion is often stated as a fact, but as such isn't.
"DX12 that comes with W10 will be better for certain games than previous versions of DirectX that came with previous versions of Windows, specifically W7 for the purpose of this statement."
My response, coming from the perspective...
UEFI is disabled but I still have the icon on my W7. Not sure if it detects the mb is capable of it, but I'm assuming the notice doesn't look or care, just wants people to know about W10.
William @ asrockamerica has offered multiple suggestions, but nothing that has resulted in making the remote console work. I think I'll just call it quits with remote, use this board for what was planned and call it a day. Maybe I'll sell it and get a Supermicro...
Got a 3220, posted right away. Updated the bios, but then figured just keep the 3220 in there.
The IPMI works fine, except console redirection. I have a Supermicro that the java console just works, was hoping this would be the same but alas, not so. Google time!
Just because I'm running dual 30" ultrasharps doesn't mean I can't play fun little games on my phone. You should give JH a try, save your hands from FPS's (RSI is a bitch if you like games).
There's a game I play on my phone called Jungle Heat, a clone of Clash of Clans, but I like it better. It's also playable on facebook, with incentives to play on both platforms. What I'm looking to accomplish is to unlock a hero which requires "Invite 20 friends". I don't have 20 friends on...
The answer is "kinda". It would have to be a secondary drive, taken offline in the host server, brought online in the VM, then share it via networking for the host to access the drive.
Is it correct only the basic Surface 3 has mobile broadband support? For work purposes I need a Windows tablet with broadband, figured it was a good time to test a Surface Pro 3...
I have an i3 4160 that isn't on Asrock's list. I have a 4790 that is on the list, but it doesn't support EEC AFAIK. Peanut is sending me a little chip that is on the list and supports ECC, hopefully that will allow me to get it up and running, maybe update the bios and try the 4160 again.
It's on the workbench, keyboard, mouse and monitor. The G1820 is ECC compatible and on Asrock's list, I'd appreciate borrowing it. If it works maybe I can update the BIOS and get one of the other cpu's working.
The Kingston ECC is unbuffered. I'm new to IPMI, but Console Redirection doesn't open, I've added the IP to Java security exceptions, no video, just nothing. No beep codes, no indications of anything. The cpu I got from you isn't on the list so I'm using a 4790 that is on Asrock's list. I also...
Got this board, purchased the Kingston 8GB ECC on Asrock's QVL, tried a couple of different CPU's (including one on the supported list) but just can't get this bugger to post. Also tried non-ECC memory. I can access the IPMI, isn't telling me anything about why it isn't posting.
Any thoughts?
Whenever I see ManofGadzooks posting I assume personal insults and a heavy bias towards W8 will be the theme of the day. I'll add W10 to that mental list.
A "Killer App" is something that people must have because it's that much better, cooler, easier, whatever term suits the individual. How cool something is to you doesn't change the opinion of the user that loves the older version and doesn't like change. Old dog, new tricks and all that.
