Which of these 5 mobos and why?

Just use the most up to date. Check out this thread, use the modded BIOS. I am using modded 1306 but also had good luck with the 803 (iirc the e8400 @ 4.0GHz was using the 803). All versions of the BIOS have a setting that removes vDroop, you can choose to use it or not.

Which of these 5 mobos and why?

Both are great boards, if I had to buy one right now I'd go with the P5Q Pro just because it's cheaper. I've actually owned three P5Q Pros, one with a Q6600 @ 3.6GHz, one with an E8400 @ 4.0GHz and then the one I'm currently running with a Q6600 @ 3.6GHz.

P5Q Pro is $100 AR with free shipping :D UD3P is around $20 more expensive ;) And the P5Q Pro looks better, black PCB FTMFW :D

Which of these 5 mobos and why?

My P5Q Pro rocks, I personally prefer asus but the gigabyte board is a good choice also. I will probably go gigabyte on my next build if they get rid of that awful color scheme ;)

Foxconn BloodRage: The Best X58 Enthusiast Motherboard Out- Forget EVGA, Gigabyte etc

The gigabyte or asus board would be my pick, this looks like a nice board but I don't like only having three ram slots.

    OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 $25 after MIR

The memory is running at 900mhz, the FSB X 2 = memory speed if running @ 1:1. Back on topic, this is a great kit of ram, very overclockable. I kust bought another set a few days ago but all of mine do DDR2 1000MHz very easily.

Just built new rig, first bootup BIOS temp reads 35C; too high for q6600 + TRUE...?

There is a memory remap feature, or something like that, that you have to enable. You can try using a lower multi and try hitting 3.6 (8 x 450 instead of 9 x 400) that way but you seemed to be going fine using the 9X multi so I would just stick with that.

Just built new rig, first bootup BIOS temp reads 35C; too high for q6600 + TRUE...?

That's why it's single channel, because one is in the black slot and one in the yellow. If you put both in the yellow or both in the black then it will show up as dual channel. I have a P5Q Pro and it's the same layout.

Just built new rig, first bootup BIOS temp reads 35C; too high for q6600 + TRUE...?

Make sure you have the memory plugged into the right slots. Either both in yellow or both in black. I know that kit of memory, that is an awesome kit. I've had three kits and they all easily did 1000MHz+ @ 2.1v 5-5-5-15. Unless you are very unlucky or they changed the chips they were using in...

Just built new rig, first bootup BIOS temp reads 35C; too high for q6600 + TRUE...?

Hmm. Well even at 4:5 your ram will be running @ PC8000 @ 400FSB, if you have a good kit of ram you should be able to do this, what ram are you using?

Just built new rig, first bootup BIOS temp reads 35C; too high for q6600 + TRUE...?

55-58c seems right for where you are now. Your ram shouldn't be running any faster than PC6400 as long as you set the FSB : DRAM ratio right (should be 1:1, then @ 400 FSB your ram is running at PC6400, if FSB : DRAM ratio is 1:1 then basically your ram runs at what ever your FSB is, muliplied...

Just built new rig, first bootup BIOS temp reads 35C; too high for q6600 + TRUE...?

Looks good then, but you can't quit at 9 X 360, you need to hit 3.6GHz! So far your temps are fine and the volatge is still ok. Keep pushing it, you can hit 3.6!!! (Just don't go much above 1.5v and as long as the temps stay under 72c you should be dafe IMHO). Here's my Q6600 @ 3.6GHz, it's been...

The Official P45 Asus P5Q Motherboard Thread

Well I wouldn't mind trading a P45 board for an X38. I wouldn't want to go through the hassle but since he's your friend... Also since you got the Quad GT working you shouldn't have a problem with it and it should OC fairly well. My experiences with that board weren't so good but I've been...

EVGA first to release GTX260 55nm

Get the cheapest 260 you can get, the different verisons don't really make a big difference perfromance wise. Only two things I'd care about are price and what company, and the main thing is price.

Motherboard for either an E8400 or E8500.

P5Q Pro gets my vote. Great board allowed me to easily OC my e8400 to 4.0GHz. The Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R is also supposed to be pretty good but I haven't tried it. I don't like any of the boards with SLI support, they all have some issue or other. Stay away from an nvidia motherboard.

You might have to clear the cmos. The thing where it powers up then powers down then powers up again means it's having trouble booting, usually from a bad overclock.
