    Megaupload Asks Courts For Dismissal

My understanding from previous articles on the matter is that the judge is currently not exactly impressed when it comes to the charges against Megaupload/Kim Dotcom, so I feel like there actually is a chance this will work out for MU.

    Built-in RAID migration

Sounds to me like something is not okay with either the video card or the power supply at this point. You may want to try swapping one out just to see which it may be. Unfortunately the symptoms themselves do not really indicate which it is. It could be the power supply not being able to...

    Built-in RAID migration

You should be able to temporarily rebuild the array to copy files off of it, however a few variables do exist. If it is a 0+1 array you may only need to rebuild one half of the array, some linux distributions may be able to do this for you automatically, if not, then you may need to do the...

Upgrade from AMD 990FX mobo to ASUS LGA 2011 without reinstall - possible?

I did this switching from my old C2D system to a Phenom II and it worked without a single hitch, didn't even uninstall drivers before doing the swap, just needed a few reboots and everything was good. So you should have minimal problems.

Sapphire HD 6970 2 GB power failure

No problem. For testing memory the ideal way is using memtest86+ If you hit F8 before the windows loading screen comes up, you should have an option to disable automatic system reboot at system failure, it is possible you running into a BSOD but it automatically restarts without it even...

Sapphire HD 6970 2 GB power failure

2 things come to mind: 1) your power supply is bad and causing the shutdown. Best way to test for this would be to replace the power supply 2) Something is overheating, most likely the cpu, you should go into the BIOS and check the CPU temperatures there to see if it is abnormally high.

BTX PSU Upgrade for video card?

As far as I am aware, BTX still uses the same form factor power supplies as ATX, from my experience Gateway desktops with that particular chassis are compatible with ATX power supplies. As for the current power supply in that computer, even if it was optimistically rated (I doubt it) it...

    Upgrading for surround gaming

I would not use that power supply if I were you, as far as I am aware, all the thermaltake TR2 (or Black Widow) series supplies are terrible products and will not deliver their rated wattage at realistic temperatures, they also have trouble staying in ATX spec. Here is a review of the 750 W...

p8z68-v pro-cannot install two operating systems

You may need to give it the proper drivers for your SATA controller. The bad news is, in windows XP setup, you have to do this from a floppy. You may want to use something like n-lite to create a slipstream XP CD with the SATA drivers included and install from that, and revert back to AHCI...

Cross reference HP / Asus mobo with similar Asus model

Worst case scenario is that you try to flash the BIOS and it fails, completely bricking the board. At this point it may be possible to resurrect it by replacing the BIOS chip with the original. While the boards may share a common ancestry there is no guarantee that the BIOS is...

my experience with this particular Silicon Image chipset has been that I have not been able to boot from them, there are like 6 of them total in my office and I tried to make one computer boot off of them. None of them allowed any booting whatsoever, in fact the BIOS would not even recongize...

Apple Surrenders to Nokia in Patent Fight

I seriously doubt that Nokia will be going after Google next, the article speculates it, but I think it is a case of actual hardware, not software patents. As far as I am aware, all the Android manufacturers have their patent license deals with Nokia in proper order, giving them 0 reason to sue.

1Gbps fiber for $70 in America? Yup

1Gbps fiber for $70 in America? Yup

Up speeds are up to 3.5 mbit/s with a Annex-M capable modem, however you do lose a bit of your down speed if you enable that functionality. Also, I had the same plan and I now have the fusion service with a phone line and it is $39.95+ fees a month, coming out to around $50 with taxes and...

Got a new Asus card, do I need to register it?

You do not need to register your Asus video card for warranty purposes, you have 3 years from the manufacture date of the card, they simply need a serial number for RMA, you can be the 5th owner of the card but as long as you are within 3 years of manufacture and you didn't tamper with the card...

VERY frustrated with my EVGA 680i mobo

This is really related to the chipset itself. There are numerous different ways these boards don't quite work right. There are small glitches here and there, but also ultimately an untimely death. I had an Asus 780i board once and it was the worst motherboard I have ever owned. It would randomly...

VERY frustrated with my EVGA 680i mobo

Unfortunately, the 680i and 780i boards were, quite frankly "shit". They suffered from a whole range of problems, which you are experiencing now. If you have any luck, you can RMA it again, but most likely you are SOL. Time to upgrade, sorry.

Graphics card malfunction causing BIOS spelling errors?!

To me this all sounds like a bad video card. As Lorien pointed out earlier, the replacement 8800 GT is going to be a refurbished card from someone else's RMA. This series suffers from defects in nVidia's manufacturing process that causes the die package to eat away at itself, the end result...
