    vertically standing a home av-receiver

yea, all that nice heat from the transformer bathing the rest of the components constantly... i wouldn't do it, personally... but, as always, that's my opinion... a rack is the way to go...

    x-fi DAC vs Logi Z-500 DAC ??

wag, i don't think you'll hear a difference, because your speakers are going to be the limiting factor in the equation, not the dac... but i'd try it anyway... never hurts to experiment... :)

ummm... you would be incorrect... good cables make a difference... caveat: ridiculously expensive cables, imo, are "voodoo audio"... but well constructed good quality cables are worth paying for...

    [H]ot Sweet Speakers

suit yourself... you obviously didn't understand why i said to ask the question that way... to the op... as far as audio review being "on with their reviews"... maybe with the editorial reviews... the consumer reviews can be taken with a grain of salt...

    Which Speakers?

actually, since the signal to the subs is probably split, it's not even an "upmix"... depending on your ability to position, dual subs can be real helpful in eliminating nulls in the low end of the frequency curve... not that that is really a consideration here, but more as a "by the way"...

    a) what type of music do you like to listen to? b) what brands have you already listened to that you "like" and what ones have you listened to that you "don't care for"? we need the answer to question b before any type of intelligent answer can be given... what i think would be the "best"...

Solution for connecting computer audio to distant receiver?

yea, that's about right... i wouldn't go much farther over 15... from the op: "you have to admit it would be terribly inconvenient to burn cds just to listen on the HT" nah, i wouldn't admit that... burn 'em while you are surfing... :) but then again, it's unlikely that i'd spend...

Solution for connecting computer audio to distant receiver?

ok, i rescind my first post then and scribble a mental note about this... :) to the op, i'm curious... why do you want to connect it? you have a collection of mp3's or something on your computer? if so, you can burn a LOT of cd's for what this solution will cost you...

Solution for connecting computer audio to distant receiver?

x, you think it's worth spending the 280 on that instead of running a cable? you can get a 40 foot coax cable from bluejeans for around 30 bucks, and i don't believe signal loss would be an issue (although i could be wrong on that)...

    Creative Inspire T3000's are pimp!

????????????? they most certainly DO add bass, even moreso because the limited space within a car creates so much more "room gain"... as far as a 40hz tone needing 26 feet to "properly develop"... i'd like to see that link... waves don't "develop"...

USING logitech z-5500 for a home theater?

yea, x, that'd probably work better, but even then, placing the fronts is gonna be hard... that narrow a room with that big a tv sitting in the middle is going to be very difficult to make work, the seating distance from the tv necessitates a certain amount of speaker separation, and they are...

    Cabling and subwofers

to the op... $5/ft is WAY too much to spend on speaker wire... depending on your runs, any decently constructed 14 (or 12) gauge wire ought to do... this ought to do the job quite nicely... fwiw, the stuff you buy at home depot will probably do the job quite nicely as well (dons...
