    Core i7-5960X 5930K 5820K Overclocking & Performance @ [H]

Oh man, I love old X99 threads! FWIW, I still have a 5960X running on an AsRock OC Formula as my media PC and I run that CPU at 4.63Ghz w/ 125Mhz BCLK and it is 100% stable only using 1.78V Input Voltage and a VCore of 1.32V. VCCIO is 1.05V, SA was around 1.10~1.15V effective if I recall (id...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

I see it shot back up to $2899 on Amazon... no way that monitor is anywhere near worth that over the PG27UQ. I was trying to justify if yesterday when I saw it for $2399 still and almost snagged it, but after seeing the jump this morning, this is just going to be off my radar until they have a...

    3dfx Voodoo5 6000 Clone

I think a lot of times it's what does someone still have sitting around that is Windows 98SE (or older) compatible... My Retro rig is much faster than what was out when some of the prime 3DFX games were out (Athlon XP 2800+; 2GB DDR 400; 6800GT; Sound Blaster ZS using SB16 emulation); but it...

    3dfx Voodoo5 6000 Clone

I'd so love a remake of the old AGP voodoo cards, but with the ability to use the "newer" AGP 1.5V slots. Sadly, the only universal slot AGP motherboard I have needs re-capped to work properly. My retro gaming PC I have now has a 1.5V AGP 3.0 slot; and I have a 6800GT in there running Windows...

Found a 3070, any reason to keep my 1080TI ?

Same... all the way back to my Voodoo 3 3000 AGP and AMD Athlon XP's.... lol. Sadly, don't have my Pentium III, II or I components anymore and anything really prior to 1998. I think I still have the CPUs and some EDO memory though; but the mainboards are long gone and I'm really pissed that...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

The monitor is already down to $2.5k... they are not flying off the shelves, even at that price. I have no problem getting it for its current price, but as an upgrade from my PG27UQ for that price? Meh, not quite worth it yet knowing other options are coming out that will drop the price further.

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

The price on the 32UQX keeps going down... will probably hold off and see if it hits sub $2k at some point. I still love my PG27UQ, but if it ends up dying like some others have over the years, I'd probably snag the 32UQX next. The 27UQ (for a Computer monitor) was unmatched for so long and...

    What happened to Zen 3+?

I made the jump from an Intel 5960X Haswell-e to an AM4 5950X earlier this year and didn't even bother with a fresh install of Windows 10. I just threw in my 2TB 980 Pro and it worked perfectly with 0 issues after installing a few drivers on top of whatever windows did automatically. I had the...

    What happened to Zen 3+?

Honestly, if all else fails and Zen3+ either flops or never happens, Zen3 is still a pretty nice upgrade over Zen2 in terms of performance. Long term, if you wanted to continue using the platform, a used Zen3 CPU would be a great deal (as I see you are on X570, which is a nice chipset to begin...

    What happened to Zen 3+?

I'll wait for official specifications and benchmarks after release. Gaming at 4K, my 3090 is the limiting factor still and I don't see my 5950X aging poorly anytime soon as the IPC and amount of processing power is already ridiculous for gaming.

I dunno, this thing has so much ass behind it I'm not sure I have even noticed any changes. I play all games fully maxed at 4K... lol. I DO have benchmarks from around when I got the card vs. things now (I always save the runs to compare). However, I think my Timespy score has remained in...

3080 TI gpu usage is all over the place.

Out of curiosity, have you run GPUz in the background and allowed it to graph all of the GPU data? GPU usage, Power Caps, Temperatures, etc? If it is jumping all over the place, leads me to believe you are hitting some limit somewhere. The 3080Ti is a beast of a card; and while it will not...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

If you have HDR enabled (assuming you have the PG32UQX); what is the bit depth when using HDR at 120Hz though? Is it 10-Bit or 8-Bit Dithering? (This is separate from 10bpc vs. 8bpc + FRC from my understanding). When i run 98Hz, I get 10-Bit from the OS (and games for HDR); even though my...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

Looking at one review, looks like True 10-Bit to 120Hz then 8-Bit + FRC at 144Hz. If you have this monitor, at 120Hz, what does Windows say for HDR? Is it set to 10-Bit or 8-Bit Dithering? Because while the panel may be true 10-Bit at 120hz, is the HDR signal?

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

Looking from simply a technical specification perspective; is there a NOTICABLE difference between true 10-bit 120Hz of the PG32UQX vs. the 10-Bit (8-Bit + FRC) 98Hz of the PG27UQ? Like, can the eyes even perceive this? What are the limitation of HDR on DisplayPort 1.4 anyway? I've read so...

Ease mostly and the fact MC will give me my money back (in a gift card of course) if they are unable to repair or replace to original quality. Speaking of which, my MC now has this monitor in stock today!! But I am debating whether or not $3k+ (after tax) is really worth it over my PG27UQ...

    i7 7700k to i7 12700k worth it ?

Get yourself a good DDR4 board as others have said and you will notice a difference for sure in the smoothness and feel of your games. Your 1% lows will be higher and any stuttering you had in CPU limited situations will be gone. I'm not on Intel this time around, but I went from an...

My local MicroCenter sold out of these monitors instantly this week... :( I really want to get it from my MC though for the 2-year warranty I can buy with it. Plus as the fan on my PG27UQ is starting to go bad (under 2 years), I might be able to get my money back on this through MC which...

Out of curiosity; have you re-pasted the NorthBridge Heatsink assembly? Any Thermal Paste from that era has probably long dried up and when those NB chips got too hot, they could cause crashing.

    Intel 7700k to AMD 5900x

7700k to a 5900x will be a very nice jump! I went from a 5960x (Haswell-e), that with my overclock could spank the crap out of a 7700k. When I jumped to a 5950x, the difference was night and day.

I still have a Q6600 (OC'ed to 3.7Ghz) and a Q9450 (OC'ed to 3.4Ghz) running on an ASUS P5B-Deluxe... they are not gaming systems anymore, but benchmarks for games do suffer A LOT, even with 1080's...

    My first M.2 Drive

I ran my Samsung 970 EVO PCIe 3.0 for over a year without a heatsink and it was fine, but they will throttle if you want to benchmark them. On my setup now, my motherboard came with NVME low-profile heatsinks and I use them on my 970 EVO (pulled from another system) and 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 2TB...

What are you nerds playing this weekend?

Yikes, that sucks. The only real problem I had with crashing was with RT On. As soon as I turned that off, got 9 hours in the game with only 1 single crash. Seeing as it (and the RT ones) were DX Errors, I'm guessing nvidia needs to release a compatible driver as the beta worked perfectly for me.

    More DLSS...

Honestly, aside from better performance, DLSS 2.0 and beyond with the Quality setting and sometimes even Balanced looks better than native with any AA solution. I always hated modern TXAA as it added blur, and other forms of AA had shimmering. However, DLSS looks so much better and no blur...

What Is Your Personal Favorite Video Card of All Time?

All these recent posts about Voodoo cards and I just finished building my "Retro" PC from old parts I have laying around... Also looking at replacing the caps on my old Soyo KT880 board as I need it to run my Voodoo 3 AGP card (3.3V). My MSI K7n2 Delta nForce 2 board only supports AGP 1.5V & 0.8V.
