    Battlefield 2042

BF single player always seems to get a lot of hate but it's not actually that bad. It's usually at least decent and pretty cinematic. I did like BF3's a lot too. It felt really satisfying with a great diversity of missions and locations, even some vehicle action.

Nvidia’s new G-Sync monitors let you switch between 1440p and 1080p

Originally the g-sync module had no scaler at all so you were forced to rely on GPU scaling (not necessarily a bad thing, GPUs are fast). So I think you may right that this is just an evolution of the module which may be a good or a bad thing eventually, I can't tell yet.

    Battlefield 2042

I can't be as enthusiastic as he is but there is a lot that I like about the game. But it's just horribly messy and broken overall and was released way too soon and at the worst time possible for an unfinished game (right before devs go on their regular vacation). But for example I love the...

Very useful info thank you. I was able to find the same one on amazon EU so this goes right in my cart.

I played like that for a few months when I was stuck with my 1080 ti. IMO it looks quite good in games, the softness isn't horrible, it's pretty clean looking. On the desktop I don't remember, I always just used 4k.

I see absolutely no difference with VRR

Besides the tearing thing, if your monitor has a fixed refresh rate and the game sends a framerate that is not strictly equal or an integer multiple of that number, you will get dropped or repeated frames, in other words, stutters. That's just physics. No ifs and no buts. I'm not talking big...

    Battlefield 2042

The game is starting to run and play much better with the patches, even infantry is starting to offer a decent experience. But then, I did spawn under the map with a bunch of other people in my team in breakthrough and we pretty much insta lost on the past point. And the netcode is still...

    Oculus Quest 2

For me there doesn't even seem to be a visual quality difference between wired and wireless (Airlink) on the Quest 2, even when I go up to 500mb/s with the cable, it seems like total overkill without much benefit. And I'm not saying it looks perfect, video compression is definitely noticeable...

    Battlefield 2042

I can agree. They messed something up. BFV doesn't need HDR to look good with vibrant colours.

    Quest 2 usb c problems

Yep, I have not bothered with a cable at all ever since AirLink came out (there were some games/apps that didn't work with VD for me so it wasn't enough).

    Battlefield 2042

I got a few hours behind me and... I absolutely love the gameplay. Yes I do hate the movement system regression vs BFV (seriously, why) but other than that I'm having a blast and loving the hell out of the vehicles (the main thing for me in Battlefield). I think the vehicles are more fun than in...

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

And that's just your opinion (and you do not own that OLED monitor either, funny how that works). FALD limitations with so few zones are extremely severe and will turn many people off. I personally think that FALD looks ridiculously and annoyingly bad as of today, with the content I consume and...

Portal definitely can save the game and I hope it will.

    Oculus Quest 2

You can maybe still get better quality with a CPU, but that's only with much slower encoding profiles, not suitable for VR or cloud gaming. No matter how much CPU horsepower you throw at it, it will be very high latency, don't forget we're talking high framerates here too (up to 120fps with...
  17. K

    Oculus Quest 2

Yeah, way way higher latency. Not recommended for cloud gaming already and not suitable for VR.
  18. K

    Battlefield 2042

Yeah... this video is actually remarkably bad marketing with how severe the frame rate drop with RTX enabled is. Yikes.

    Battlefield 2042

I don't think that amount of vehicles is in the cards (I would LOVE it too) and believe it or not but a large part of the Battlefield playerbase is very resentful towards vehicles (because when one starts shooting at you you can't do anything but respawn so it's frustrating, and some skilled...

    LG 48CX

Last I heard this setting was a band aid fix for Windows Store games. I don't even remember if I have it on or off right now, lol. Most games will definitely use VRR just fine without it (at least in my experience with nvidia) since g-sync mostly "just works". Meanwhile I just hit 4000 hours...

    OLED Eye Fatigue

I'm not sure but a quick Google returns a lot of results including a certification that LG OLED TVs have which says they emit much less blue light than comparable LCD TVs.

    OLED Eye Fatigue

My LG OLED TV is easier on my eyes than any LCD I've had (the measured brightness is set to around the same value on those displays, I have a meter). It also doesn't affect my sleepiness like LCDs do, LCDs seem to keep me awake far longer than I should be, and it's a pain the next day (if I have...

    LG 48CX

Actually elvn Rtings did not manage to reduce peak brightness on their units even the ones that suffered burn-in. But that was on older models, maybe they let you eat away at peak brightness to increase lifespan on recent sets. I'd prefer that personally as I'm mostly consuming SDR content...

    LG 48CX

Yep, OLED is amazing and will serve a lot of people well but it is definitely not for everyone in its current iteration. I don't know how much the tech can be refined but I guess it will never be ideal for monitor use in bright rooms for example. HDR will also gain more and more traction and...

    LG 48CX

Ah yeah let's abuse the panel and make a fear-mongering video about it. To be fair I'm not sure what happens when the average joe buys such a display to use it as a monitor... Personally I did a lot of research beforehand and made certain it suited my use cases (and my room). Only seems natural...

    Oculus Quest 2

As long as the Oculus app is running you can also launch games via Steam just fine (I always do that). It loads SteamVR and then the game automatically for me. Basically when I want to play VR I open the Oculus app and put my headset on and then use the built-in virtual desktop to access my...

    Oculus Quest 2

Did you keep the Oculus app running before firing up SteamVR? It needs to be constantly opened while in VR nowadays.

    Oculus Quest 2

Everything works with the Quest 2 with cable or AirLink, which basically makes apps see it as an Oculus Rift CV1 or Rift S. There are a few applications where VD won't work but they are limited and can usually be worked around. And it's a third party app developped by one guy so that's...

    LG 48CX

I've seen people test it with appropriate equipment (like jorimt, who is behind many of blurbusters' articles) and ISF (or any other mode) does have a bit of lag vs game mode but it was only one frame on a PC, so very little at 120hz (~8ms). But it still felt noticeable to me at least when...

    GIGABYTE AORUS FV43U 43 inch 4k 144 HDR1000 QLED monitor

I mean we may be "OLED fanboys" but you guys are definitely vocal "FV43U fanboys" :P And I don't mind if you guys actually prefer this display. But there are people like me for whom OLED is just absolutely king at this time. Is that really so hard to accept?

New Samsung Odyssey G9 with MiniLED announced

"Sample & hold blur" is the blur that comes from the fact that current display techs don't flash the screen on and off like CRTs did (by default, there are some technologies to force them to or emulate that behaviour that I am sure you have heard of - but it's difficult to make them work well...

    Gigabyte AORUS FO48U 48" 4K 120Hz OLED

That's not crush, that's how it's supposed to be on a display with true blacks. In you're not in a pitch black room, you shouldn't even be able to see the first 2-3 boxes or so. And even in a pitch black room, it's not supposed to be easy unless you zoom like crazy (and squint very hard) to make...

    LG 48CX

Sadly I have too many bugs and issues with HDR as well. Heck I just got a "fresh" bug in the last couple of months where the Netflix app stutters like hell with HDR enabled only. It worked perfectly fine before... I am not actually consuming that much HDR content right now though and some of it...

    Gigabyte AORUS FO48U 48" 4K 120Hz OLED

Looking forward to what you guys will have to say about it. Pretty sure it won't be worth replacing my LG CX though (it's honestly totally flawless for the last 6+ months now, thanks nvidia and LG for fixing the last few bugs).

    PG32UQX - ASUS 32" 4K 144 Hz HDR1400 G-Sync Ultimate

What is it with this anti-OLED brigade we have here all of a sudden lol. There is no perfect display technology. Everyone has to decide for themselves what compromises they are willing to make. I can easily pass on the super high brightness right now due to lack of content where it really...

    Oculus Quest 2

Of course I am. 2.4ghz I'd dare call that unplayable for VR :p 5ghz and Wifi 6 (but the latter is mostly just extra bandwidth). Yep and Airlink is fantastic, though I still have severe wifi interference issues in my room some days even with a relatively powerful & dedicated router and messing around with the settings for hours. FML. Maybe it will be better in the apartment I just bought but I'm not certain.
