    BenQ BL3201PT 4K monitor

I decided to keep mine. The only serious criticism that I have is that the AHVA glow on it seems more prominent than on the better IPS panels that I've seen, but I'm getting accustomed to it, and it's not intolerable or horrible.

    BenQ BL3201PT 4K monitor

I had been using a 37" IPS LG tv for the past 4 years, finally decided to get a new monitor and skipped 1440p. Have had the Benq for 4 days and have mixed feelings. I can't detect dead pixels, and there is an acceptable level of Blb, but the IPS glow is more prominent than my TV, with more...

    cooler master cosmos s gallery

Hey, folks. Bumping an old thread... I'm thinking of getting one of these used locally. I really want the original Cosmos because I find it to be the most visually appealing. Now that some of you have had it for 5+ years, what are your current impressions of the case, especially its build...

Ungrade from HD 5870 for around 250$

Blame consoles! However, I think that it's a good thing these software developers are forced to maximize the potential of aging hardware. It's much easier on our wallets when we don't HAVE to upgrade annually just to keep up.

    Is my PSU good enough?

Although the two that I've had never developed any problems in the short terms that I had them, I wouldn't trust that or any OCZ power supply, no matter its efficiency rating.

    LG 55" LED 1080p 120Hz HDTV 55LN5100 $500

Unsure if this is still the case, but at least in the past, some of the cheapest LG displays still used S-IPS panels (it's a lottery).

    AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz - $89.99 (Amazon)

    AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz - $89.99 (Amazon)

Got mine for $89.99 CDN at NCIX a few weeks ago. My only regret is that I didn't keep this chip a few years ago --it would have spared me a lot of wasted cash on building i7 systems that I didn't need!

    Worth upgrading i7-950?

Since you have it at 3.7GHz, why upgrade? New Intel sockets are too expensive for upgrades, IMO, until your current socket is too far behind (775). What games and at what resolution do you play if the 6870 is still not enough for you? Try CrossFire?

Wanted: 1920x1080, IPS, 24P capable, 72Hz or 120Hz refresh rate, best for movies

He forgot about the part where CRTs will kill your eyes even at high refresh rates. I wouldn't want to read 5 words on a CRT these days, but one dedicated for 720p content (via computer, not cable box) might be intriguing.

Recommendations for 27" to 30" IPS.

I love how this troll ignores the fact that the OP wants to use the monitor for gaming too, and presumably as a PC monitor. Most of the larger HDTVs have horrible input lag and questionable response rates, plus the lack of 4:4:4. Immersion for games is definitely important, but who says that...

Recommendations for 27" to 30" IPS.

Most of us aren't misunderstanding this at all. It just happens to be one bad troll. Almost every major HDTV review source states that whatever sample they use (usually in the 40-50-inch range) applies to all the models of that series, so picture quality should be similar regardless of size.

Is there a better 32" LCD-TV than the Sony 32EX400?

I was thinking about exchanging my 37LD450 for the EX400, but the Sony's lack of 4:4:4, smaller size, smaller size, and less accurate color changed my mind. The Sony does have excellent color reproduction for an MVA panel though...

IPS Panasonic HDTV: Is this backlight bleeding acceptable?

I don't like the various calibration profiles posted on AVS for this LCD. They may be quite accurate, but I find images and colors dull and lacking contrast. My backlight settings are 55 to 65, depending on content, brightness 40-50, contrast 95, and V-sharpness 55, H-sharpness 65. I haven't...

Recommendations for 27" to 30" IPS.

Even if the 1080p screen were only 9-inches big, it would still benefit from quality 1080p film. Of course, you'd have to view the screen pretty close to see the details. Before the iPhone 4 came out, I was skeptical that something with a 326ppi could show off sharp small text and images, but...

Recommendations for 27" to 30" IPS.

And even this isn't the case. Check out the independent contrast measurements conducted by Most of the higher end 32-inch and 37-inch HDTVs have very competitive contrast compared to the many big and pricey plasmas and LED TVs. What the TROLL is...

Recommendations for 27" to 30" IPS.

Ignore the troll. Anyone who thinks that only 40-inch plus TVs have high quality displays is clearly an ignoramus. Independent measurements have proven that most bigger HDTVs tend to have lower contrast and of course, worse viewing angles. Again, ignore the thread-crapping troll. There's...

IPS Panasonic HDTV: Is this backlight bleeding acceptable?

Well, I exchanged the Panasonic for an S-IPS 1080p 37" LG (37LD450) at the same price on sale. There is a massive panel lottery with the LG: some of these LGs are TN, MVA, IPS-Alpha, and S-IPS (which is what I ended up with). Input lag is measured at an excellent 16-32ms, and ghosting/motion...

IPS Panasonic HDTV: Is this backlight bleeding acceptable?

The backlight test indicates how deep the darkest blacks can be at a particular backlight level setting. I've never seen enormous backlight bleeding that resulted in perfectly fine and uniform blacks during normal usage.

I think what he meant is that he's a noob who knows nothing about optics, resolution, or anything related to HD. Viewing details has everything to do with pixel pitch and the quality of the panel itself. A 37-inch 1080p TV with the exact same specs as a 60-inch TV will display the exact same...

Not possible because the lighting too bright at Best Buy to have a good look-see. Well, I played TF2 tonight, and with my rig, I probably get over 100fps, and guess what? There is noticeable ghosting that was never a problem with my old Aquos! I'm likely going for the 32-inch LED, 60Hz...

IPS Panasonic HDTV: Is this backlight bleeding acceptable?

I should say that the bottom picture is not at all indicative of how the backlight looks in real life. The top is more representative. Like I said, during actual usage, I would have to squint pretty hard to notice that the bottom left is slightly brighter than the rest of the display, but it...

IPS Panasonic HDTV: Is this backlight bleeding acceptable?

I just picked up this 32-inch CCFL 1080p IPS Panasonic last night and am disappointed with the lack of uniformity of the backlight. The sides, especially the bottom left, appear significantly brighter than the middle when there is no image (backlight set very high at 75%). However, when I'm...

Funny... "Lag Fix: SGS has very very good hardware, but it has some parts of it's hardware poorly implemented. The filesystem that Samsung chose to use is custom-built using FAT32 as a base, RFS. It has a lot of the problems that FAT32 has, and should have been left back in the 90s, or...

    GTX 460 768MB Enough? or 1gb...

I think it's pretty relevant as developers increasingly move towards higher memory bandwidth. To me, 768Mb seems far too low for a 460. Right now, it's generally within 10% of the 1 gig model at high resolution and with AA, but I believe that this gap will increase over the next year...

    Sprint epic 4G impressions

All Galaxy S models use the fastest NAND portion of their memory for system and app storage. The lag has nothing to do with the slower flash storage but rather the file system that Samsung has chosen. If the Epic doesn't have lag, then it is because Samsung has fixed its software.
