    Doom Eternal

Usually Doom Eternal tells me when it wants a newer GPU driver after receiving a patch: And if I don't update, I usually experience some graphical glitches and very minor performance issues, nothing major. I thought it was pretty handy that before the game even launches, it tells you that...

Jensen Huang: The 100 Most Influential People of 2021

I should've known he'd be wearing the jacket on this cover. I don't think he ever takes it off. He probably showers with it. "The character model has that texture baked in."...

    Domino's Delivery Robots

Same here. Domino's regular pizza is ass, but their handmade pan pizza is pretty fucking awesome. I don't know if they are the best chain pizza, but I definitely prefer local places as well. My favorite local place is extremely expensive though, so I only use them for special occasions, or if...

    What is your backup GPU?

GTX 1080 Ti is my main card, GTX 970 was my backup, but I gave it to my brother on the other side of the continent. I still have a GTX 570 and a GeForce 8800 GT lying around if I need a PCI-Express card to serve as a temporary replacement to the 1080 Ti if something should happen to it.

Intel CEO: Most People Only Replace A PC After 5-6 Years

I built my current X99 PC in Sept-Oct 2014. I can see myself lingering another couple years or so on it. I have a friend who is still using an X58 system I built for him in early 2009. He was ready for a whole new PC this year, but then the PC market went crazy, so he's holding off for now...

Man behind viral Spanish Laughing Guy meme has passed away

This was the very first video I ever saw of this guy. I had just picked up a 970 myself during the launch, and I ended up getting a partial refund from Amazon thanks to the segmented vRAM issue. Seen this video repurposed for all sorts of tech-related shit over the last 6-7 years, like the Intel...

    How long do PSU's last?

I'm using a Seasonic-built Corsair HX850W PSU (CMPSU-850HX) that I got in Summer 2010. Been used every single day, for 16-24 hours per day. Been running fine this whole time. Seasonic PSUs usually have 10-year warranties, and I expect them to last at least that long.

    A "[H]ard" surface mouse pad?

I lost my RatPadz GS years ago, but I bought a RatPadz XT in 2015 and it's still like new. I've also used the fUnc Archetype 1030 dual-surface mousepad for many years. The two surfaces lasted a long time, but eventually started wearing out (I have spare surfaces though). I feel like my mice...

Nvidia bringing the 1050 ti back from the dead to meet demand

Bringing back the 1050 Ti makes no damn sense. There's other old cards that are faaar more worthy of being brought back (and far more useful). I paid $430 for a brand-new EVGA 1080 Ti in Summer 2019 (I had been planning on picking up a Radeon 5700 XT at the time as an upgrade from my GTX 970)...

How long do you trust your PSU?

My X99 system is using a Seasonic-built Corsair PSU that was in my previous X58 system. Been running daily for over 10 years now. I'll probably replace it when I build my next system sometime in the next few years.

The 970 is still a capable card? Heresy

The GTX970 was one of the best purchases I have ever made in my life (and one of the greatest deals, after factoring in money savings from the partial refund and the class-action lawsuit due to the segmented vRAM). I finally replaced it in 2019, but the main reason I replaced it was the vRAM...

Are you upgrading your quad core in 2020?

I've been using a 6-core CPU since 2014 (5930K). My last 4-core system was a Core i7-930 on X58 that I built in 2010. One of my friends replaced his Sandy Bridge i7-2600K with a Ryzen 7 3700X earlier this year, and another friend replaced his i5-2500K with a Ryzen 2700X last December. My next...

Marvel’s Avengers Is the First AAA Game to Feature Intel Specific Optimizations on PC

What in the actual fuck is this stupid-ass marketing nonsense? Are you fucking kidding me?! First I thought the Marvel-branded Intel CPUs were an April Fool's joke outside of April, and now there's this. I always think I know how stupid Intel thinks we are, but then I continue to be surprised.

Accidentally took off bottom of a corsair h115i cooler

Don't the instructions just show the brackets sliding off? Just confused as to why you thought you had to unscrew the screws on the underside of the waterblock. I think I recall reading on the Corsair forums a few years ago about how the coolant in their AIO closed-loop units are a mixture of...
