I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

Hello guys. Sorry for the delay... Good news, the whole thing here, and the PC, is completely good. The only problem they found is a small scratch on the mobo I/O chip that caused two pins to be touched. Yup, I think you would say oops. So nothing was damaged. Furthermore, the graphics card is...

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

I did that 3 times even more. MX-4. It's useless though. This thing gets power hungry. It goes to 94 as per MSI specs. And for GOD'S sake it makes all the room a sauna.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

Well, it was an MSI R9 390X GAMING. A very old GPU getting 95 and 96 degrees Celsius. The idea was to "ball up" the soldering around the chip and PCB. The point is there was no idea from my part that waves inside MW would actually cause that. So the temperature may be decreased but nope didn't...

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

So you are saying that changing some parts, if found, that got burnt in the microwave in the gpu wouldn't make it work again..?

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

We currently having trouble to see if all is destroyed or not. That's why I am to get a technician and see what we can dig up from this. Surely mistakes are all related first and last to the GPU but as I mentioned that MB and PSU won't work together, which makes things more difficult to decide...

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

A PSU tester with some other stuff like a voltmeter and additional parts to test and see which won't work would be enough to get the results.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

The point is all what I'm looking up now is to collect what is damaged and try to repair it, whether through me or a geek store that has such fine repairman for GPUs.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

It happened few times. Even gpu maxed over temperature threshold. HIGH GPU DEGREE. 95 to 96 temperatures. Yup. Point I'd the thermal compound was not a cheap one but was a fake MX4. Currently we have another issue after what they all say toasting it. And the PS won't power on. I can't figure out...

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

Ummm, first of all, I am not in US. So, no ebay here. Also the warranty policies here are already very,....rigid. ...tedious. so don't worry, it's just how you like it here.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

It says on some videos that connecting green with and black wire results in turning on the PS manually. You don't know that?

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

Currently I find only that PS has 2 responses from clip, pin No 4 (for power, I think) and pin No 8 turns on fan only, while pin No 4 with pin No 16 (the one just above 4) keeps the PS powering on just to make a tick sound and then off instantly. Pin No 4 and any other pin do nothing, though I...

Warranty for MB. GPU for any geek I trust to do the trick.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

I said that only parts with sparks from microwave were interface connectors and the pins plastic covers.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

It can be powered on through the paper clip, the PS. Running but not powering the MB nor the CPU.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

I connected PS to MB several times already. Still have functional PS and not working MB. Meaning? High chance everything is okay but a little thing unfigured..

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

PC is not powering on. I don't know why. Only PS works. MB only and CPU with case switches and the PC case button nor any power on trick works. Still working on it. Period.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

It wasn't defrosting, that was 200 Watt cooking mode.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

I understand. But mostly nothing at all on the PCB got burned. Only the plastic and the interface sockets.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

It's still in warranty. So yes. And I am just thinking that nothing happened to the MB yet. The post speaks about a dead graphics card and is now negotiating a dead pc. The whole pc.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

Well, my microwave is a 42 litres LG inverter. It has 200 Watt and defrosting and more for popular dishes. PSU is seasonic 850w Focus. MB is gigabyte Z490M Gaming X CPU is I5-10400 That's all.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

I really don't get this part, I find it very weird. You are saying just because a graphics card is microwaved and got some burns that it is not dead, only it will not but burn the PC it goes in? Really?

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

I have a button on the back to run the PS to run the fan all the time and I turned it on just so you know that it is being run on and off. But it is running good now. Problem now is the MB is not running. I have no idea why.
  28. P

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

Okay. I will start from here. Also I got 3 4 pin connectors for CPU. Is that normal? I will upload a photo for it.
  29. P

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

Problem was that graphics card dead, then PS was not powering but now fine. Now MB and chasis just won't do anything. I cannot figure the problem exactly.

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

PS is working good now, with a paperclip. If powering the PC all together it doesn't turn on. Turning the case with a screwdriver bridging the power switch doesn't work. That happens with or without the graphics card connected. Also, is it possible to turn the PC on without the cpu 4 pins connected?

I microwaved a R9 390X gaming and now my pc won't run after 3rd time

No. That part in the pci connector is the one next to the pcie socket lock in the motherboard, at the end of the connector. The picture is for the first part of the connector.
