Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more (UPDATE - added source for Windows 10 retirement date)

Personally, while I loathed the UI, I liked Windows 8.1 for its speed and resource management. Windows 8.1 with Classic Start = winner.

Bitcoin value cut in half as cryptocurrencies tumble in weekend slide 05-24-2021

Crypto is only good for criminals like drug cartels and ransomware creators, as well as for rogue governments like North Korea, Iran, Venezuela and now Myanmar to bypass economic sanctions and stay in power. The civilized world believes in transparency and accountability (Glasnost, dare I say!)

What is your "coping" strategy for the time until you can get a latest-model Nvidia/AMD GPU?

I play games with laughably low graphic requirements like Factorio, though fortunately thanks to my 2070 I can also afford playing Subnautica: Below Zero, Transport Fever 2, or Satisfactory maxed out at 1080p. I still have a full HD monitor and probably would have got at least a 1440p one if I...

AMD’s upcoming flagship GPUs should be 3x faster than RX 6900XT

Might as well be 1000x faster, I'm keeping my 2070 at this point. Screw both AMD and nVidia for treating their customers the way they've been doing it for the past year!

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti’s GA102-225 GPU Leaked

    NVIDIA PCI-Express Resizable BAR Performance Test - 22 Games, 3 Resolutions, RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, 3060 Ti

NVIDIA to Re-introduce GeForce RTX 2060 and RTX 2060 SUPER GPUs

That's so true. Thankfully, Samsung has released the VA Odyssey G7 at 1440P with a 240 Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately there are no graphics cards available to drive that resolution and refresh rate.

So buy Ampere or wait for AMD response?

I'd rather spend my money on an nVidia card that just works instead of spending my limited free time fiddling around with the drivers.

Microsoft returning to Flight Simulator in 2020

Personally I'd love a new MS Train Simulator, one that includes all of the world's railroads. Most train sims today are pretty pathetic, with hundreds of dollars worth of DLCs.

VideoCardz: Intel confirms Alder Lake-S to require LGA1700 socket

So basically Intel can't design a scalable enough architecture, so they add some crappy Atom cores instead in order to reach the desired core count. Everyone who ever owned a device with an Atom CPU knows that they are basically a crime against humanity.

    Intel 10 Series "Comet Lake" Launch Review Roundup (10900K, 10700K, 10600K, 10500K)

I'm a bit shocked that the i5-9600KF I bought on Black Friday for less than 200$ does almost as well in gaming as the i5-10600K. The difference is probably even less at 5 GHz, which is apparently harder to achieve on the i5-10600K (at least according to one review). I would have expected HT to...

"Star Trek: Discovery" Renewed for Season 3

Scorpion was great too. And a few others. But generally Voyager hadf a lot less good episodes than TNG or DS9, even than ENT seasons 3-4. Still, all of these four series were overall much better than STD or Picard. They stayed true to the Star Trek spirit and formula.

CBS Makes Star Trek: Picard Pilot Free On YouTube 'For a Limited Time'

The thing which probably bothers me the most about this new show is the pretty obvious lack of a science consultant. Things are so bad that I'm actually starting to miss Voyager's technobabble. Also, the design of the new ship(s) is horrible. It looks like both Starfleet and the Romulans took...

Intel Core i9-10900K 10-Core Comet Lake-S Monster CPU Leaks With 5.1GHz Turbo Clock

5.1, just 100 MHz more than the previous flagship CPU? Things are quite bad for Intel if that's the best they can do. I have a feeling Ryzen 4000 is going to stomp on them, this time even in games.

Linus from Linus Tech to Possibly Retire

I'm gonna miss him. As of late, his financial security allowed him to speak up his mind in ways most other "reviewers" can't (the blurred Threadripper results in the Intel Cascade Lake review come to mind).
