DRM has ruined Resident Evil Village on PC

I'll probably buy a copy when(if) they patch out the DRM next year.

Sony Interactive Entertainment acquires Nixxes Software

They've been watching other Japanese studios cash in on porting back catalogues and new products to PC (eg Yakuza) and want in on that action. The new stuff I imagine would have a 2+ year delay.

Alienware Really Doesn’t Want You to Buy an AMD Ryzen PC

Stock of current gen OEM Ryzen parts is probably just as limited as everything else out of TSMC at the moment. It would make sense that Dell would want to push buyers in the direction of something they can more easily procure. Especially at the scale they sell at.

    GIGABYTE AORUS FV43U 43 inch 4k 144 HDR1000 QLED monitor

It may still be a decent monitor without local dimming, assuming the price is ok and you never turn on HDR.

    NVIDIA PCI-Express Resizable BAR Performance Test - 22 Games, 3 Resolutions, RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, 3060 Ti

Looks like the small bump in gaming performance I expected. The real question though is left unanswered. What's the increase in hash rate, since most of the rtx3XXX stock is in miners' hands.

Intel drops $20B into creating a foundry business.

If their can foundry can catch up to TSMC then they would love to get contracts from Apple, Qualcomm and Nvidia etc. It's also a backup diversification plan in case x86 fades out to ARM.

Is there a good strategy to getting a 6700xt?

I think there’s less bots in Australia. MSRP cards lasted for about 1-2 minutes here. After that it was just the pre priced jacked Asus/gigabyte cards. If you’re totally desperate the stores here *might* ship internationally. There’s some USD $730-770 aftermarket cards still around. (You’d have...

Is there a good strategy to getting a 6700xt?

Ordering within the first 10 seconds of launch netted me a 6700xt reference card at MSRP. I'd have preferred the 6800xt I've had on order since the start of Jan to show up (I don't expect it to show up), but this will do to replace my tiring GTX1080.

    Sony 2021 TV Lineup

The X85J models have this listed [HDMI 2.1 ports: 2 (4K 120Hz, ALLM, VRR)], so as long as you don't care about HDR (they're edge lit) or OLED blacks they should be alright. Of course this is assuming Sony's new models that use the older X1 chip don't have the same blurry 4k 120hz image that the...

LG to make a 42" OLED panel in 2021!

Well, since I never ended up getting a 48” for various reasons, I guess I’ll just get one of these (assuming it is good). I much prefer the 40-43” size anyway.

AMD issues guidelines to retailers to prevent Radeon RX 6000 scalping

It wouldn't surprise me if the scalpers aren't paying tax on the profits generated. While the article doesn't state this, it's probably one of the reasons the MPs are trying to push the legislation.

NVIDIA Bans Reviewer for Concentrating on Rasterization Instead of Ray Tracing

In 6-10 years time ray tracing is going to be great, as of right now rasterisation is still king. The ban is also rather confusing as Steve was saying the new Nvidia cards were good (but pricey) and had benched a lot of ray tracing. He also pointed out how bad AMD is at ray tracing currently...

    I Bought a 6800 / 6800 XT Today!

My order was cancelled since the store I bought from massively oversold their supply of cards (and reference cards look to be EOL). Going to have to try my luck for an AIB card next week. I don't like my chances seeing as I've been at work every time new cards go up. Guess I should just buy a...

    Apple M1

The m1 chip shows clearly why Nvidia is buying ARM. They wish to repeat what apple is trying to do with their new chips, and take a large chunk of the x86 market that apple won’t take. Intel should have just given Jensen an x86 license. The accountants were in charge for too long.

X86 is a dying plafform, will AMD switch to ARM soon?

It's a great little chip, and I'll probably pick up a 2nd gen arm mac mini for music production / htpc duties, but an x86 replacement it is not.
