Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more (UPDATE - added source for Windows 10 retirement date)

I remember using the first version of IE. It came with the weird little add-on disk for Win95 called Microsoft Plus. My school was giving it out for free if you bought a Win95 disk. It was super quick, but it was missing features that Netscape and the built-in browsers for AOL/Prodigy/etc. had...

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Pretty much this. After running the original formula into the ground (with Unity being a particular low point), those two saved the series from CoD-level tedium. Odyssey is my favorite in the whole series and I've played 'em all.

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla

I hate climbing down mountains so much I usually just risk jumping off the edge to save time. Unless you fall really, really far straight down you can usually survive. I miss the "leap of faith" being available so often in the other games. It's in this one, but they're kinda rare...and very...

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla

You can jump off of tall heights in Valhalla, but you have to use the jump button. It's usually pretty awkward, but at least it's possible. It saves time and you can fall a long way before it'll totally kill you. You can't walk, roll, or dodge off edges that are over a certain angle, though...

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla

No doubt. This one seems to be using a totally different movement system from either of them and it's a definitely step backwards. They clearly spent a lot of time giving him freedom to climb up huge rock faces and cliffs, but getting him to go down one is an absolute struggle. Any object more...

    Pixel 6 / Pixel 6 Pro

I use mine for tons of things (browsing, maps, texts, email, social media, photos, music, streaming, etc.) but none of those things need much horsepower. My friend's iPhone 6 actually does most of those things admirably fast compared to my S20+. Outside of gaming and creative work that probably...

    Pixel 6 / Pixel 6 Pro

I don't even play games on my phone, so I don't really care about pure horsepower. I just want a pleasant form factor, a usage experience with no bloat, a camera that works, and as much battery life as possible.

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla

As I get further, the game's size and scope are becoming more evident. I've just had my first brush wish Asgard (which the game didn't explain every well), and I've been playing around with River Raids and attempting to kill bosses that are way over my level. Between those things and the idea of...

    Demon's Souls (PS5)

I've gone back to Bloodborne a few different times. It always hurts my eyes for the first few hours, but I eventually get used to it. Motion blur, frame pacing, plus just the general hazy look to the game. I think the graphics are still pretty fantastic in stills (and in 60fps videos), but...

    Demon's Souls (PS5)

They had a perfect opportunity to do something with Bloodborne at launch since it was part of the PS Plus set. At this point I've given up on it. We might see a remaster in the distant future (like Demon's Souls got), but they don't seem to be very eager to do anything with it in the short term.

    Biomutant

Interesting that they're increasing the level cap that much. I felt damn-near invincible after I got to level 30'ish and completed the game at level 41. I started NG+ and didn't notice much difference in difficulty, but I guess they "fixed" that, too. I found things to be much more challenging...

Cyberpunk 2077: Night City Wire premieres June 25

I think most players split into two main camps. One camp saw what was released as an unfinished mess and has been waiting for a version that's "fixed." The other camp dove in and is either long done with the game or already bailed. It doesn't seem like many new players have been picking it up...

Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more (UPDATE - added source for Windows 10 retirement date)

I liked Vista and never had any issues with it. I never had any issues with 8 or 8.1 either. 10 has been the most problematic version of Windows I've used since moving to NT. The weird divide between the legacy parts of the OS (control panel and such) vs. the settings menu ensures that nothing...

    Official PS5 Thread

Microsoft rolled out a bunch of new features with theirs. Things like Atmos rolled out pretty far in advance of a major release. If you don't mind trying software that's buggy and unfinished (aka. you're a PC gamer), it's not that crazy.

    What made you switch?

I originally went from the iPhone to Android because I hated having to "sync" my phone and iTunes library to move files around. Arranging things the way I wanted became I total hassle and iTunes got worse and worse with time. With Android I could (and still can) drag and drop files to my phone...

    Resident Evil 8: Village

That sucks. This is one of the few games that uses its own HDR trigger rather than the one built into Windows, too. You might try the Windows HDR toggle and see if that makes a difference.

Windows 11 leak reveals new UI, Start menu, and more (UPDATE - added source for Windows 10 retirement date)

I actually like the new look. I've always liked the aesthetics of MacOS, I just just never wanted a Mac. Windows 10 has always felt disjointed. One foot in Windows XP and one foot in something new. This finally looks like the OS is ready to move on from that older look for good.

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Yeah, I feel you on the Eurojank front. Movement isn't quite right, collision detection isn't quite right, etc. Some of the cutscenes are in-game and running at max FPS while others are 30fps etc. I feel like the previous two games were ultra-polished and this one simply isn't. It's not horrible...

Well. No new Switch and no new Mario Kart. New new F-Zero, either. Even the Metroid they showed wasn't particularly interesting IMO. Oh well.

    Resident Evil 8: Village

Capcom just announced that they have begun working on new DLC for RE8, but offered basically no other details. I kinda figured they would, but it's nice to get confirmation. I just hope what we get is as substantial as what they released for RE7.

    E3 is stupid

So, what's the deal with E3? I've just noticed a pile of release trailers popping up, but haven't followed the show itself. For what it's worth, the term SJW gets thrown around to side-eye everything from female game characters to elementary schools that have 40 genders. I'm going to need...

    Xbox game pass PC

Yeah, I'm still a subscriber and think it's a good deal even with the issues. I just look and see the whole UWP thing as a problem that's easy to solve. EA's Game Pass games require Origin/EA Desktop...but they aren't UWP. Hence you can find where the games are installed, edit INI files, install...

    Xbox game pass PC

I'm fine with Game Pass as-is if it wasn't so damn buggy. I've played roughly a dozen games beginning to end via Game Pass and all but 1 or 2 either don't want to launch, crash on exit (every time), or don't support some kind of display mode that the non-Game Pass version does (vsync...

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla

There was a decent sale going on this weekend so I was able to snag the standard version of the game for $30. So far it's more of the same from the last two, although the controls have a definite jankiness to them that reminds me of the Witcher 3. Things like clipping problems, going down...

Evil Dead based on Bruce Campbell Horror films

This is one reason they haven't been able to add Ash to Mortal Kombat in spite of years of trying. Seems amusing for a few minutes, but I can see this getting pretty old if there isn't more to it.

    Xbox game pass PC

Love that Back 4 Blood will be on Game Pass day 1. I was going to buy it anyway, but that'll save me some $. Obviously the Outer Worlds 2 will be a very cool addition at some point, too. Scorn also has potential. The other games aren't really doing it for me, but there's also EA's line-up, too...

Windows 10, New Features, DO NOT WANT

    Mortal Shell

I'm down to play more Mortal Shell. I haven't touched it in a little while with the hope that they'd release some more content. I'll have to re-train myself how to play it. I remember the hardening mechanic taking a little while to get used to, but after a couple hours I felt really good about it.

Review the game you finished recently.

I wanted to like Dying Light, but I found it to be sloppy and repetitious. I started and went back to it 2-3 times and just never could get into it enough to keep going. I didn't hate it...but I didn't like it, either. For me it was more like a 5 or 5.5/10.

    Epic Games Store

I have a metric shitload of free games in my Epic account and I really only bother with the AAA ones. I have GTA5, Control, all the Arkham games, Battlefront 2, Remnant, both Metro redux games, Darksiders 1 and 2, and a pile more. That ain't bad.

    Your CPU progression

    I specifically remember going from a 486/66 to a P133, PII266, and a pair of Athlons (600 & 900). After that it's a blur and I don't really remember the speeds at all, but I had a P4, C2D, 3 Core i7's, and now a 5800x.

    Elden Ring (From Software RPG)

Dare I say it...but it looks too much like Dark Souls to me. I'm all for more Dark Souls, but I think I was hoping for even more deviation from that style of game. Still, it looks cool. Plus, I appreciate that it isn't coming in like 3 years.

Windows 10, New Features, DO NOT WANT

It's a tough thing when MS wants to roll out stuff like this. Average joe consumer is never going to install anything manually, so they kinda have to push it out. At the same time, it's annoying when things like this mysteriously show up without warning, too. Feels like this would have been...

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection- coming to PC

It's up there with the laziest ports of the modern era. It legitimately feels like an emulator running the game that they made for another platform.
