Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

Oh I'm irritated at it for sure - I have the XL and the TR is in there, and it's ... not easy to manage airflow in it. Radiators work well, anything else - meh. That's why I have the running debate on prosiphon, or just mesh front, or jump all the way to full water.

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

Yeah. I have to disable much of the auto-overclock on my Threadripper for the summer. It's just too hot - and I'm getting a mesh front for it. I'll consider water next year. For a WC case (or one heavily built around AIOs and lower fans), the O11 ROCKS. Debauer built it for that. It's...

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

I'll second that hte O11 series does NOT have great airflow. It's not an airflow case. It's adequate, but middle of the road at BEST, and really really wants a lot of fans and top-bottom flow. I'm seriously debating water cooling my Threadripper for this reason - my 10700K on water works...

Eh... I run idle at 65c on a lightly overclocked 3960x. That would help.

GPU Shortage Got You Down? GeForce GT 730 Makes a Comeback

That's the DDR4 version. It's slower than the 7XX :p By a good bit. NO one buys those.

GPU Shortage Got You Down? GeForce GT 730 Makes a Comeback

That production process uses (I ~think~) slightly different substrate. That hits my knowledge limit - but they're still making tons of 28nm, not having the same issues as 7/8nm are.

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

The slope takes that away. Look at the rear shot - you lose a lot to that back area. That’s good for cable management. But the main area is only about as big as a normal case. Or a big case (for the xl), not super big like it looks loke

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

Haven't ever had one of those - going off of the 3090 of theirs I do have (with the optimus block in pic), I'd say that the 3080 would be VERY tight in the non-XL, 3090 is a non-starter. In the XL... 3090 would be tight, the 3080 would fit fine. The thing to note - the back panel space is...

Good compact 2.0 setup (PC, music/some movies, occasional gaming)

I'm basing it off of comparisons to my home theater setup (Bowers And Wilkins 700s or 800s, can't remember which), and a few high-end headphones (Grado SR325, Arctic Steel Series + DAC), and my own preferences (obviously). I'm an audiophile on a budget (the home theater setup was 18k in...

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

For the moment. I was planning on putting that card in an X299 box that lives in a 1000D, but... RMAs have me shuffling video cards around like I'm playing musical chairs.

Pic of XL back exhaust. AIO is dual 120, as is the remaining top fan as comparison.

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

No. EVERYTHING has a filter. Now, my filters get dusty, but no. I do have the side of my Dynamic cracked open (3090 + block doesn't quite fit :p), but even then it's not bad.

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

Just not enough room really for that - it's a single 120MM fan (or maybe a 140MM? I haven't measured) for the XL. My 2x120 won't fit. I'll take a pic.

Let me know if there are specific things you want photos of. The XL is torn apart for testing.

Lian Li O11 Dynamic or the Dynamic XL - thinking about getting one

I'm very much NOT a fan of the Lancool II, and I own both the Dynamic and the Dynamic XL. I have the same complaints with the back of the Lancool II, as well as not liking the magnetic latches for how it all goes together (shove a bit dammit, and let me screw that stuff in!). Points I'll...

Are AMD drivers really still terrible?

Two totally different systems. One is an x299 with a be quiet 1200, the other TRX40 with an ASUS Thor 1600. No parts swapped between them ever. :(. Both are also on separate CyberPower 1500VA UPS too.

Are AMD drivers really still terrible?

Had no driver issues, but have had two dead 6800XTs (different systems; one DOA - crashed instantly with any 3D load, the other lasted 6 months and now all but one DisplayPort are dead. And the hdmi port is flaky). Drivers have been perfect. Just got the first back from RMA (Asus was really easy...

Good compact 2.0 setup (PC, music/some movies, occasional gaming)

They’re absolutely amazing, once broken in a bit and fed through optical at high res. They do like to be a little loud, and source detection can be a touch flaky sometimes (keep the remote handy from sleep), but they sound very very good. Definitely close in listening though- they’ll fill a...

    X570 Motherboard Recommendations

Except when they don't work. I think I just cooked mine (Zenith II Extreme Alpha) with the clear CMOS button (was trying to force a trip to BIOS), and now it just throws similar errors. And the flashback? Doesn't work either :(

z170a board - Pciex16 or pciex8 slot expander for more than one riser card on the same pciex16 or x8 slot?

That's ~basically~ the cost of a PLX chip, so it could be either - but margins would be nonexistent if it was a full PLX implementation.

GPU Shortage Got You Down? GeForce GT 730 Makes a Comeback

They're generally for servers or the like - not for home users. I have 2 in servers, and (one linux, one ESXi), you really don't care about the driver that much.

Are AMD drivers really still terrible?

I've had slightly better results with Nvidia drivers over the years than AMD, but slightly. Both have bad releases. Both have bugs. I had EXTREMELY bad luck with Polaris cards (RX480/5XX), but perfect luck with Little Navi and Big Navi.

GPUs available and shipped from Amazon Japan

The 90 and 70 are in constant use. The XTs one is, the last not as much. I got lucky early on before it got totally nuts. Lemme think a touch, but I’d have to find a replacement for it if I did that...

10980XE - equivalent to SoC Voltage? (Not stable with 128G)

The issue is heat. I totally agree, but it’s summer- for the next two, maybe three months, that’s cooking time. :D. I also need to get more fans/etc.

And I'd have had an office I couldn't spend more than 5 minutes in. When you have 4 HEDT procs and a 3950X (which is ~almost~ an HEDT box), plus those 5 GPUs all cranking at once... my office (which is overly insulated) would have been 90 degrees even in winter - unless I opened the windows in...

10980XE - equivalent to SoC Voltage? (Not stable with 128G)

I think I am. Any gaming this thing will do will be at almost 4k resolution (5160x1440) - where it's all GPU limited ~anyway~. We now know that: 1. The X299 Designare 10G is WAY overly aggressive in power savings / down clocking the CPU, which results in poor performance on cpu-limited but...

10980XE - equivalent to SoC Voltage? (Not stable with 128G)

Ok. That made a huge difference. We're still low overall. So for certain, the Designare is overly aggressive downclocking. Now I'll track to see if we're actually ~boosting~ at all.

10980XE - equivalent to SoC Voltage? (Not stable with 128G)

Dammit, stupid phone camera and ultrawide screen. Let me switch it to PBP mode and try to get a shot. I'll hit those settings first and see where we end up. Peak speed during time spy/etc is about 4.3 ghz, but only briefly (temps stay below 70).

With the number of systems I have, all running at once (most of them run server workloads when not being interacted with, or are off), the thermostat doesn't matter (8 systems active at peak, 4 of which are HEDT of various recent or current generations). Especially when it's 90 degrees outside...
