NVIDIA Controls AIB Launch and Driver Distribution @ [H]

Good on [H] for sticking to their guns. Honestly, I would think a majority of the readers here aren't in a rush to buy the 20-series at inflated launch prices. Wait for launch drivers, push out the review a couple weeks after launch and I don't think anyone will be annoyed at the "lateness"...

NVIDIA: Crypto Demand for GPUs Very Strong, but Could Cool in December

Why not blame nvidia/amd for not pumping out enough GPUs to meet the on-going mining demand? It's not like they don't have years sales data to predict these things.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

ended up getting the GTX1070 FE instead of waiting for an AIB w/blower. Fits great in the case and quite a bit quieter than my 680.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Looking at getting a GTX1070, also waiting to see what the board partners do. I was originally planning to just pony up for the FE, but getting a cheaper model and buying a water-block for my H220 might be the best solution.

Would the gtx 1070 be around the gtx 980ti in terms of performance?

Yup, 1070 for me. I need to let the 680 go, it's been fun but it's time is over. :D

Make sure you enable pass-through in your application, that way it'll ignore whatever windows thinks it can support and stream DD/DTS directly and not decode it locally and output PCM

    Sanity check - Buying a GTX 980 (non-ti)

Yeah the black friday deal on the 980 was $140 off + 30 MIR so it's seems like a really good deal (in canada anyway). I have until EOD tomorrow to buy it at that price, currently got some ads up to try and sell my 680 for ~200 which seems fair based on what's on ebay.ca

    Sanity check - Buying a GTX 980 (non-ti)

For additional reference the MSI 970 is $497CAD w/tax :( GTX 970 - $497 GTX 980 - $636 GTX980ti - $904 Our dollar really isn't doing well. Maybe I should wait for the nextgen and our economy to recover.

    Sanity check - Buying a GTX 980 (non-ti)

Hey Guys, I ordered a MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G into my local shop on a black friday special, works out to be $636CAD with tax and after $30 MIR. I got that new Dell G-sync monitor so i was all hot and heavy to upgrade my GTX680 after realizing I cant run rocket league at full quality at 144fps...

NAS connected to desktop using Ethernet crossover with PCIe 10 Gbps?

Just to clarify my comment on "1st gen Cat6a": I miss-spoke. Cat6a is Cat6a, what I was trying to remember was that a newer type of cat6a came out called F/UTP, or Foiled UTP. The foil shield allows for a thinner jacket that removes the little spacers that are used in plain cat6a UTP. This...

NAS connected to desktop using Ethernet crossover with PCIe 10 Gbps?

It's not THAT bad, I've done 12 runs in my house so far. The only difference is trimming off the plastic core after you strip the jacket, punching down the jacks is the same. The only real difference I've found vs cat5e is the cable is stiffer and more annoying to run. But that's 1st gen...

NAS connected to desktop using Ethernet crossover with PCIe 10 Gbps?

Have you terminated fiber before? It's not really a home project :p Those prices are cray. Last time I looked OM3/4 MM fiber was VERY expensive and optics were still like 150 for legit Intel.

NAS connected to desktop using Ethernet crossover with PCIe 10 Gbps?

I'd love to have fiber in the home, but the fiber and optics are MEGA expensive. Plus with the shitty job many builders do now installing copper, I can only imagine how poor the quality of fiber installs would be. SFP+ and Twinax are great for wiring up gear in a rack or a single room, but...

NAS connected to desktop using Ethernet crossover with PCIe 10 Gbps?

In the future, esp in homes, I'd expect 10GBASE-T/10GbE to pick up. I ran 10G rated cat6a in my house in preparation. Currently I'm just using single/bonded 1G until 10GbE switches drop in price. Fiber termination is a real pain in the butt.

XFX video card warranty... buying used?

Same deal with EVGA and BFG way back. I've had good experiences with both EVGA and XFX in the past but the industry has changed since then. They adapted and BFG did not.

Fractal R4/R5 claims "Design & engineered in Sweden", so why the 1 yr. warranty?

I'd also like to chime in that Fractal has great support. I emailed them explaining how I was doing a mod to their hdd bracket (to make it only hold a single drive to increase airflow) and I sawed off the wrong side and was hoping to buy another one. They shipped me a new one free of charge...

MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G Video Card Review @ [H]

Just picked one of these up on a Black Friday special of $560CAD after MIR, hopefully it still holds its water with the 980ti out. Seems as though the 980 still has a higher performance/$ over the ti and frankly I can't afford the ti :(

    Replacement for Logitech G500

That's the thing about the 502, the sensor is top of the line and the mouse is highly rated for FPS, it just feels off. I don't know why Logitech would abandon a design they've been using for 10 years, they had a strong following with the 5series. I'll keep using the 502 I guess, I just wish...

    Replacement for Logitech G500

Sorry to bump this old thread.... Been using the 502 for a while now and while the hand cramps have stopped (due to the narrower shape) I'm still not loving it. I have a G500 at work (occasional miss-click), and it just feels so good and familiar as I've been using the 5 series since the...

based on current blackfriday sale prices i can get a MSI 980 Gaming for $559.98CAD vs ~830 for a 980ti. I did some math and it works out to be 20 firestike 3dmarks per dollar for the 980 and 17 for the 980ti... I'm so torn and the futuremark site is down so i cant get better numbers for...

    Dell S2716DG, 27" 2560x1440 144hz 1ms "G-Sync Gen II", DP+HDMI

I'd feel silly buying a Radeon to pair with my G-Sync monitor :p I'd prefer to stay with Nvidia anyway just due to personal preference. I would get a 980ti, but I want to see what happens with Pascal. Are 980 (non-ti) even worth considering?

    Dell S2716DG, 27" 2560x1440 144hz 1ms "G-Sync Gen II", DP+HDMI

^ Yeah I would try doing the 125% DPI boost in windows so see if that makes a difference. Also on the fence on buying a GTX970 today as I'm not sure my 680 will be able to maintain 120+fps in csgo at 1440p.

    MSI Z170A Gaming M7 LGA 1151 Motherboard Review @ [H]

I've got my hands on the board, it's pretty great... but I haven't powered it on yet. The only thing I really hate is that the front panel USB 3.1 (w/quick charge) port is pointing straight up, unlike the the other USB 3.0 port which has an angular port. Also not a fan of how the IO cover is...
