    Crucial MX500 2TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD $184.99

I don’t like how VMware handles ssd, but one of the things you should always check is that it recognize it’s actually a “flash disk” and not an old spinner. it’s usually pretty good about detecting the type of drive on passthrough, but if you’re using some kind of HBA or RAID device it usually...

NVidia and MediaTek to collaborate on ARM gaming laptops

To be fair - and I have no actual idea as to which way things will go - we also thought they’d be really stupid to keep trying to refine 14nm and refreshing skylake for so long and that they’d have some kind of generational leap coming in 2019, after Ryzen had been out for a bit. and now their...

Alienware Really Doesn’t Want You to Buy an AMD Ryzen PC

so true. Enthusiasts spent years making sure everyone knew how much AMD sucked.

NVidia and MediaTek to collaborate on ARM gaming laptops

dont forget the original Xbox with its x86 processor and the Xbox 360 with a triple core PowerPC proc! also, though it’s a bit more of a tangent, I believe most of the portables have all been arm based, but none arm64 until the switch?

    CDW Outlet Finds

I think a lot of people are spending more time deal hunting for any tech they can find now, too. Supply shortages has made it harder to find anything it seems.

    CDW Outlet Finds

Those are great prices. If I was filling up a home NAS I'd jump on them, the ironwolf drives in particular. We use EXOS drives at work and I like them too - for $225 that's a steal, you can basically get two for the price of 1. ...and I see it looks like someone jumped on that deal already. :)...

5000G series coming soon to an SI near you?

these are zen3-based APUs. So I wouldn’t call it a rebrand unless you also think the ryzen 5950x is just a rebranded 3950x.

True! But I expect they'd be even happier getting a cut of all the games sold on that platform.

[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for AMD, Nvidia, Intel, PS5, XBOX

PCMR types? Streamers? Regular gamers caught up in FOMO? Miners? Anyone trying to flip some GPUs to make a bunch of money? There's no logic left in this, "having time" for it doesn't even factor in to it. Although how much time do you guys think you've spent over the past six months refreshing...

It wasn't the full xbox guts. The APU spec is the same, but it's missing the eSRAM and doesn't have nearly the same amount of available bandwidth. Anandtech got hold of some hardware and did tests...

AIDA64 gets support for GeForce RTX 3050 (Ti) and Radeon RX 6600 (XT)

    GameStop to Sell PC Hardware

Yeah, I’d bet that APUs are going to be where it’s at in the future. DDR5 bandwidth and updated architectures will improve “bottom line” performance significantly. I don’t think we’ll get console-scale APUs on the PC for a while yet, though. Maybe expect to see more tiny boxes like Intel’s new...

    GameStop to Sell PC Hardware

I might be retreading old ground here, so apologies in advance if I’m saying anything you (and anyone else) already know. I worked for what would become GameStop for about 5 years starting in the late 90s. At the time it was two storefronts owned by the same company - Babbages, and Software...

Microsoft Nier: Automata port is a marked improvement over the Steam one

chrcoluk your point stands, but I think Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia are Namco games, not Square Enix. I’d also include FF12 in your list. Though the “international version” was used as the basis for the recent remake, and all of the remake releases were the same at least.

Microsoft Nier: Automata port is a marked improvement over the Steam one

Idunno, sounds to me like the PC experience wasn't all that great either. Lots of unhappy people on Steam grumbling about it right now. AMD Radeon 6700 XT Launch Live Stream - 10am 3/3/21

it's like watching stockholm syndrome work its way into someone's mind. $480 for a mid-range GPU? Seems fine! Meanwhile, the GTX 970 launched at $329, the 1070 at $379, the 5700XT at $399... these prices keep going up for the mid-range, and taking everything else with them. Pretty soon we're...

Microsoft is bringing Auto HDR to DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 PC games

So effectively, the only people who might see a noticeable difference with this feature are the ones who bought an expensive HDR TV, or an even more expensive FALD HDR computer monitor. Forgive my lack of enthusiasm, but the industry did this to itself when it decided on different levels of HDR...

Nvidia's GeForce GPU shortage isn't improving anytime soon...or later.

You can always go back to 1080p gaming on 4GB cards, since they're "too small" to be useful to miners now. I was going to make a joke here about Radeon Fury cards being cheap but they are apparently selling for $250+ on ebay. GTX 980 cards are in the same price area. But... recently sold...

would be nice for an alternatgive to get some traction. The heatware marketplace started out promising too but it didn't get much uptake, and heatware has a pretty big userbase of exactly the people who would be interested in such a thing. There weren't even any fees for that one.

Anandtech and Gamers Nexus 11700k Reviews

to be fair - you could just say "has an integrated GPU". The only regularly available AMD parts with an iGPU are... the first generation "Zen+" APUs (and even they are super overpriced right now). What is an Ethernet cable? Here's how to connect to the internet without Wi-Fi and get a speedier connection

I'm not surprised to see an article like that, heh. The idea of running ethernet directly to the computers in a house is pretty outdated for the average user, especially when the majority of those computers are laptops that might not even have ethernet ports. Never mind the idea of using it in a...
