Yes I agree, when using only air cooling (like I am). I did some tests for the sake of science :) My educated guess, the rear exhaust fan does (75-80%) of the work, then the top extreme rear fan does remain 20-25% of the exhaust work. Any more exhaust fans on top is just waste, as only cold air...
Yes the single rear fan definitely exhausts the most heat! I was going to buy the Arctic P14 (x 5) value pack, but they are completely sold out in my country. Plus long term they seem to break down and get noisy, apparently. I found Noctua Nf-a14 Pwm on sale, so I got them instead! I will...
Thanks! If I wanted to leave the light on but have just one fixed colour, then I will need to install the software, correct? For now I just disabled it.
Another dumb question, the mobo came with these two cables, what are they????
So on my 5950x I applied a thin layer, should have stopped then, but, to make it even thinner I went over it again with the credit card. This resulted in raking effect lol Then I applied small pea in the middle and called it a day.
My PBO enabled CPU temp with Noctua NH-D15 are between 39C to 82...
Just updating and a thanks to everyone who helped me decide :)
The Meshify 2 XL Dark, PC is all done and running nicely :) The 5950x is sitting proudly in there. Always stressful pressing the power button for the first time lol
I have some fan questions. The CPU temps seem ok. Range from 32C...
Machine all ready! I bought the boxed/sealed 5950x from a private buyer for 900. Same day they became more readily available from one local retailer for 850, 3 months no availability and then on the day I buy, it becomes available lol Glad though that I did not go for 5800x and waited.
I have brand-new tubes of Noctua NT-H1 paste (came with the cooler) and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. Which should I use? And which method to spread on 5950x? The Kryonaut came with a spatula to spread all over, I assume. Someone online said go for British flag method, apply a thin + and
Just received the delivery of Fractal Meshifx 2XL (dark glass). Build quality looks great, and I don't find it super huge as my current cases are full tower too. Now I have two questions-
Q1- PSU, facing up or down? The way the PSU plate was screwed in from the factory, it seems they want the...
I am in Europe otherwise I would have. Plus I have a deal with someone, and I am meeting them for exchange of CPU/cash soon.
If the box is sealed, and I am covered with 3-year warranty from the original shop (checked with them already), I should not worry, correct?
I think maybe you misunderstood what I said in my last post. I have 3 CPU cables in total for my HX1000 PSU. And yes I will be plugging all 3 in. I was just saying that the third cable on the Mobo side has only 4 receptor holes, so the third cable's 8 pin plug on the Mobo side will need to be...
Replying to my own post. I think I got it figured out now-
So I have two 8 pin CPU cables.
- One of the 8 pin cable will fully go into B- ATX_12V_1
- The second will go into A- ATX-12V_2, it is splittable so only half will go in and half will just stay out (on the MOBO side)
- Obviously the...
Ok, just ordered the 2XL.
Btw it comes in two glass tints- Light and Dark. If someone needs help deciding then this link came handy-
Looks like I will have all the parts to finish my 5950X based PC this weekend. So was looking through the Dark hero Manual and at the board. Refer to the attached image please.
With my Corsair HX1000 PSU, I have 2 types of CPU cables. The 24 PIN ATX is straightforward, and I will obviously...
Hah! Funny ;-)
I have two 10-15 year old Silverstone TJ07 cases ( 560 x 220 x 565mm), so similar size to Meshify 2XL (600 x 240 x 566 mm). My current 2 towers sit under my double length tables. They are placed 6 inch off my wooden floor on a skateboard looking contraption that I made. One tower...
If all turns out good then I will get my hands on a sealed unopened 5950x box for $900, in 3 days time. Local official price $850. I hope the seller does not back off.
3 year warranty I get with the invoice.
The back side of the box can't be opened without breaking those circle and dash tear...
You are sending me mixed messages, bro :) So if I went with one RTX3090 then clearly Meshify 2 is enough, if 2 x RTX3090 then maybe 2XL is better, even though the rest of the extra space is not required. With 2XL there will be plenty of space to mount one card vertically? Bloody decisions!
The 2 SATA SSDs are from an older build, so not buying any new ones. But after reading your post I think I will get 2 M.2 and populate both slots on my Mobo (instead of just one that I had planned). So one for the system and one for cache/WIP progress files.
I found this photo online of Meshify...
I am conflicted between Meshify 2 or Meshify 2XL for a 3d workstation, non gaming use, with the following parts.
- CPU- Ryzen 5950x
- Air cooled (Noctua NH-D15).
- GPU, hopefully 2 x RTX3090 or whatever in the future, one day!!!!!
- Around 4 spinning HDs
- 2 SSDs, 1 M.2 (on mobo)
- Asus X570...
Ok, just now ordered 5950X at retail price, the waiting list had gone from -76 to -19. They are getting daily supply of CPUs from AMD but which CPU and the quantity is never known. So a waiting game I guess. Patience :-)
These are normal converted to USD prices in Europe for the CPUs-
One individual/scalper selling 5950X now for $1255 (sealed/unopened box).
If I buy 5600X and later 5950X = $1327 (assuming I can't resell the 5600x)
I have all parts minus CPU and GPU. It is a non gaming PC, the plan was to get RTX3090 and 5950X for my 3d productivity work. For now, I do have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 OC (6GB). So technically I am not without a card but the card that I have is not good for 3d rendering, but it is ok for...
Not a miner but just read this about Nicehash-
NiceHash's founder Matjaž Škorjanc is a creator of malware Mariposa botnet, which infected over 1 million computers with Butterfly (mariposa in Spanish) Bot. The goal of Butterfly Bot was to install itself on an uninfected PC, monitoring activity...
Another question, struggling to get hold of 5900/5950X, my question is, if I install say 3500X or 5600x for next 1-3 months. Then I replace it with 5950X when I get hold of it, will I need to reinstall Windows again, or can I just swap it out?
As the OP, just bringing this thread to conclusion. I ended up buying, Corsair HX1000 W PSU ($200), it will arrive tomorrow. They got instantly sold out, so luckily I was quick.
For 1 RTX3090 and Ryzen 5950X it will be enough. My original plan of getting 2 RTX cards won't be becoming reality...
I was looking at similar PCs in Europe for parts, saw a pre-built PC for $4100, with RTX3090 and Ryzen5900X.
Another one was $4000, with Ryzen 5950X and RX6900XT. Daylight robbery but even thought I am desperate, I am not that desperate yet!
The problem is that I need as many extra cores as possible :) I am a 3d designer and I need the cores for rendering, a 5800X would be ok if I could get hold of RTX3090 and instead use that for rendering. With GPUs no where in sight a higher core CPU like 5950x is the next best thing. This whole...
What I meant was to get a cheap PC to tie me over for one year, so cheap X570 Mobo (something half price of Dark hero) + Cheap 5600X + cheap RAM. Then in a year, build a brand-new killer setup using the new socket MOBO + CPU + DDR5 RAM, basically a killer PC that I was planning to build now...
With only a sealed X570 Dark Hero in hand I am feeling super frustrated! Even thinking about selling it and getting a cheaper MOBO and 5800X combination, call it a day!!!!! Then get 6950x the moment it arrives!!!!!
