    New WD SN850 M.2, why?

Interesting. Macrium was the only one I could get working when going from my stock laptop SSD to my Samsung 980 Pro 500GB...ironically I bought a Sabrent NVME to USB 3.1 adapter to do it, lol. If I did it within the OS to another installed drive, it was wonky. Worked much better to do it to a...

Unobtanium GPU edges out Notavailabanium/Unobtanium alloy card

6900 XT is nearly faster than a 3090. Not sure what kind of cherry picked chart that was...maybe ray tracing? Yeah...NVIDIA is better there.

Per the article, yes. Was just commenting regarding the comment about gamers not paying triple MSRP.

Insightful look at the supply chain issues around GPU's

The problem is there is a big blurred line there. Most gamers have wised up to the free money they can make part-time.

    Mobile 3070 power spec

Yeah that thing is perfect except I had that same basic CPU with my previous GS66 laptops - wanted to get Ryzen! 3080 at 80W is not much different than the 3070 at 80W (which I have, and there's an ASUS G15 with the 3080 for another $200 to get the 3080) so not worth the upgrade.

PSA: Nvidia Warns People To Update GPU Drivers Because of Security Problems

Very helpful in their push to get people to update drivers so they can further restrict mining!

Yup...basically the same CPU but I like the binned aspect and ABT!

    11900K Benched

Good move! If I didn't buy a kit to get a 3080 I'd be standing pat, myself. Lots of cool stuff to shakeout later this year and next year (as always though, haha)!

    11900K Benched

Yes, lots of choices dictated to me by the kit, but I did my best to change it up! Believe it or not, as much as I drop on builds, not a believer in big, bad mobos, anymore. Back in the day I would ball out with the big dog boards (my MSI X99A-XPOWER just died last week - RIP) but since SLI is...

    11900K Benched

I'm real happy with my choice to wait for the 11900K over getting a 10900K. It's worth it, IMO. Boosts to 5.3 GHz with ABT (ASUS Z590-E with latest beta firmware). Using 980 Pro NVMEs. Pic here -...

    EVGA GTX 1060 6G "Mining" $499.99 B-Stock

Yup - it was about $300 more expensive than other B-stock 1060 6GB cards in stock at the time (I have Distill monitoring EVGA B-stock but I'm no longer in the market for a card so it is curiosity these days - even saw a B-stock 3090 FTW3 the other day for $1849!)

Just in - Hope for an end to the GPU shortage comes from an unexpected source

Right - that's why these are for sale now - versus in December. They made good money, now they're balancing the risk of ETH 2.0 to capitlize further.

Just in - Hope for an end to the GPU shortage comes from an unexpected source

Yes, just like GPUs - they print money so why would you sell them? If you decide to sell them - there's a reason - a high price or that future profitability does not look as good (ETH 2.0).

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Build complete - very glad that I upgraded to the Z590-E. Alex at Micro Center Saint Louis Park, MN did an awesome job with the water cooling. I swapped an AX1500i PSU into this bad boy to replace the "meh" EVGA 850 Gold. :) (128GB kit also had issues so I returned those and got a 32GB kit -...

    Performance-PCs.com is scalping RTX cards

Not sure it counts as scalping if they're letting the market decide via bidding. There is no "Buy it Now" option that I saw?

[H] Stock Alerts, Tips & Tears for AMD, Nvidia, Intel, PS5, XBOX

I was at the Micro Center in St Louis Park, MN yesterday to do a dead mobo swap - there were already 3 dudes with tents and chairs out at 8:15PM. I'm all for having fun if you can do it (and it does sound fun) but for me, with a family and all of that the opportunity cost would be too great...

SSD HDD shortages due to crypto mining

Depends on how hardcore of a crypto enthusiast you are. Binance and Coinbase - you "own" the coins in that you can transfer them. But you don't own them in that you don't have the keys and full control for offline storage. I'm of the mind that the balanced approach (Binance/Coinbase) is what is...

    I Bought a 6900 XT Today!

https://www.techspot.com/article/2178-amd-smart-access-memory/ Never really paid much attention to the feature because I never thought I could get a 6900 XT - looks like it isn't that crazy of a difference but a nice to have type of thing.

    I Bought a 6900 XT Today!

Scored an AMD reference 6900 XT last Friday thanks to Distill - it arrives tomorrow. I am pairing it with a 5950X - is there a huge boost with the pairing or is it mostly marketing?

SSD HDD shortages due to crypto mining

Anti-crypto always ends up being extreme black and white views. It's all investment, it can't be used for transactions, it will never replace the dollar - all of those things can happen simultaneously and crypto will be successful. - USD will be fine - Store of value via BTC is OK - "Paying for...

Bitspower Titan - Swapping Intel Block for AM4 Block

Yes - make sure you check the manual too - it says which boards are compatible with the kit.

Bitspower Titan - Swapping Intel Block for AM4 Block

Yes, it's all interchangeable. I recommend contacting Bitspower via email to make sure. The manual (linked on this page) shows all the compatible boards for the included tubing. You'll need to buy an AMD block which I think I saw at Micro Center it's like $180?

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Yeah, it's basically $250 for them to tear it down, diagnose, build it back up, and test - so not as bad as it seems but still pricey for people like us that do it ourselves. For me, I'm OK with it as I am not comfortable with water cooling. I will learn via this rig because come 12 months from...

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

https://www.microcenter.com/product/609401/-pc-water-cooling-radiator-flush---advanced I think they're using it as a "catch-all" for the type of problem that I have and because it's a hard tube custom watercooling system (versus AIO). Since I bought it about 40 days ago, I am hoping...

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Thanks for checking in! They just finally sent me a text - but nothing else of substance. Bitspower also said they would reach out to Micro Center to coordinate - so positive experience thus far, overall! EDIT: they confirmed it is likely a dead mobo - they tried new RAM, PSU, etc. - want to...

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Just dropped it off at Micro Center for "diagnostic" - $39.99. Man, what a noob I've become, lol. It was a very interesting experience sauntering up with my $4k build next to Grandma and her dusty eMachine that can't get emails. Good news is they're an official warranty provider for a ton of...

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Yes - good suggestions, particularly the mounting mechanism - checked that and I did it per instructions (should show visible gaps between the spring) but I loosened it a bit just in case - no go. I did get the Q-codes and everything firing while using the setup all the way up until I was done...

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Oh yes, absolutely. Since it's a kit, I'm gonna drop it on them to help first versus going out and trying out different parts. I appreciate the offer to help! I am in MN - so if that works out I'd take you up, but I can probably scavenge some random PSU in the garage. Just gotta see where this...

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

That’s what I’m afraid of. Heading to Micro Center today. To replace the board it’s a lot of water cooling deconstruction that I’m not comfortable with as a noob. To replace the PSU is easy enough but it’s a kit so having one of those two possibly bad id rather have micro center help.

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

So plug it in - then use a flat head to touch those two pins (versus leaving the power switch connector connected)? EDIT: nothing happened, unfortunately.

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Thank you for the reply. I did not try the pins - there's a clear CMOS but I did not see anything like that, and this is a more "mid-range" board so no power on the board, unfortunately. I do have another PSU that I can try. I am very close to packing it up and taking it to Micro Center sometime...

First "Custom" Water Cooling (Hard Tubing) Build - System No Longer will Power On

Hi all, this is a fun one. I bought the Bitspower Titan X 1.2 kit from Micro Center on 3/9 - primarily to get the 3080 - but I decided I would just build in it, too. Fast forward to this weekend, finally received my 11900K (hence the delay) - added memory, storage, the CPU, put down some paste...
