getting ready to pull my hair out... trying to get my RX580 working on my workstation (Linux Mint 19.3)
I have installed the latest AMD-PRO drivers
after I rebooted I try and start the GPU client and get
*********************** Log Started 2020-04-03T00:21:17Z ***********************...
if it's the OEM intel PRO 2500 drives
DO NOT BUY THEM
there's a problem with the firmware that makes them randomly stop working, I bought a whole bunch of them for my servers and learned that the hard way
sure, he was the main reason I left F@H back in the day... now I've been reading to see if I get back into the fray and it seems there still isn't a good project for both CPU & GPU so I begrudgingly go back I guess
I have some really expenive Eaton units (APC suuuuuucks, they kill batteries after 2~3 years tops) in my rack and I think the last firmware update for them was 3 years ago? and that was just for the network card don't think there have been any updates to the UPS software itself
well it has assigned 32 (config errors if you put more than 32) and finally got a WU, and is using 40% of the CPUs as expected... so I may just put another 32 core CPU instance and a 16 CPU instance to use all 80 threads
seems it doesn't utilize threads only cores?
yep my lenovo desktops are only 12v to the mobo... had to get a 24pin adapter to use a regular psu so I could power a video card (oem psu didn't have enough juice on the 12v rail)
also all the servers I use are the same thing... 12v at a ton of amps and 5vsb at like .8a
in x58 almost certainly doesn't have nvme drivers in the bios, but like you said the 950 pro and the plextor m6pe/m8pe have legacy oproms that can boot older systems... I have an x58 at home with a hex core xeon OCd to 4.4GHz and a plextor m8pe, works great
I've got a pair of the 1.6TB drives in service (one in each of my iSCSI targets) and they work great, tempting to pick up a pair of these to double my VM storage even though I am hardly filling the 1.6TB drives
