    Is this computer any good?

There's nothing wrong with it, but unless you're part of the maybe 1% who still use them it's wasted space/money.

    Is this computer any good?

Does that Dell use a non-proprietary power supply? IIRC they were one of the companies whose mutually incompatable proprietary designs drove the development of the ATX 12VO standard, but I don't know if they used proprietary 12V only models across their entire line, or if they've replaced them...

    Is this computer any good?

That case is way too small for a 140 fan, or even a 120. The opening is only about half the size of the IO panel (6.25"/158mm). It's holes are for an 80 or 92mm fan. 🤦‍♂️ With a 65W CPU it probably won't get crazy hot without an exhaust other than through the PSI; but even if you can upgrade...

It's not a case of being unable to handle it per se. For some reason the ATX spec doesn't define maximum allowed spikes; and some newer cards (not just 30xx's some last generation AMD cards did the same thing) are putting out spikes so large they exceed the thresholds the PSU designers picked...

why would they build a floppy disk drive on a Borg Cube?

They've got a less insanely expensive non-lightup model that's not a limited edition. Basic layout appears the same. https://mycherrytree.com/collections/all-the-things/products/borg-cube-atx-case-1?variant=39286262005958

why would they build a floppy disk drive on a Borg Cube?

To me it looks like a 240 rad with smaller endcaps (like the installed 120) would just barely fit under the PSU; and then you'd screw the drive cage to the radiator itself (or just not install it at all). I'm more concerned it doesn't look like there's any ventilation elsewhere on the case...

Looking for NAS recommendations & advice

In this case I'm pretty sure the plural of "anecdotes" not only isn't "data", but something on the range from "sucker trap" to "worthless". That said since 07 or 08, I've had NASes with initial configurations of 2x1.5, 2x3, and 2x6 TB drives; primarily used for holding a mix of archival backups...

    Buying Monitor for Readings Text

As a practical measure of how higher DPI boosts readability: I have a 20" 1200x1600 monitor (100 DPI), a 32" 4k monitor (140DPI), and a 13" 3200x1800 laptop (280DPI). With the screens all at equal distances I can comfortably read text on the laptop at 200% scaling. The 32" at 100% results in...

Yup. I'd've never bought a 3070 if I could've gotten a 3080; and if prices go non-crazy over the summer (eg if crypto crashes again, or Etherium's planned mining changes deflate the GPU mining market) I probably still will get a 3080.

    Do CRT's like 60 Hz?

Way back in 2000, the last (only) time I bought a CRT, my two functional requirements were 17" and 1600x1200x60hz; with as cheap as possible as a third non-functional one. I ordered the cheapest no-name display with my size/resolution requirements listed on PriceWatch and rocked its eyechart...

What's the current best value for mid speed 120/140mm case fans

meh. These're secondary boxes, and running distributed computing so at fixed loads. Fixed speed fans that can't be heard from a distance do everything I need.

What's the current best value for mid speed 120/140mm case fans

my stash of old/spare 120mm fans just got wiped out today (discovered in addition to the noisy fan, the other two OEM fans in one of my cases had also died, as had one of my salvaged spares). Most of my systems still run on them, so I'd like to have a spare or two on hand for the next time one...

Well this certainly makes more things interesting. If only Etherium mining is nerfed, this will give us a preview of what is likely to happen when Ether goes from Proof of Pollution to Proof of Plutocracy for mining; which is supposed to happen later this year.

    40" 5120x2160 LG panel in Q1 2021

75 Hz is an interesting choice. Could be the limit for OCIng a 60hz panel I guess; because unless they're doing 30bit color (doubtful since no mention of HDR) and DP1.4 should have the bandwidth to support 90hz with 24bit color without using any sort of compression.

Extending to point 2, your GPU is only allowed to take a maximum of 10W from the 3.3V rail (via the PCIe slot) and nothing via 5V (unless it has a 4 pin molex or sata power connector for some reason). Several years ago one of the tech sites measured mobo power draws, and only 1 of the GPU...

ponzi coin prices are way too volatile to make a go/no go decision based on a days activity. If they spend the next week or two steadily going...

NZXT H1 case recalled due to fire hazard

Sort of. As is often the case, the history is messy... IBM researchers invented the concept back in the 60s as part of an R&D program that also invented many other features of modern CPUs; an Alpha chip was the first commercial part to implement it in hardware, but was never released due to...

Nvidia bringing the 1050 ti back from the dead to meet demand

Because a notional RTX 3050 would be another new design competing with all the other 30xx cards for not enough fab capacity from Samsung. The 1050 Ti is an old design made on an old process that presumably has spare capacity available.
