After being burnt on their absolute garbage GPUs 4 card generations in a row, it's safe to say any dedicated gpu AMD comes out with is going to be a pile of junk. They've not demonstrated even once that they should be continued to be considered a quality gpu manufacturer.
Yeah, if there were other gpu solutions out there, I'd never touch another Nvidia card for the rest of my life. Hate the company, hate their bad business practices and specifically hate them taking advantage of consumers by charging top dollar for 15% performance increase every two fucking years.
Just wait, they will get stock in mysteriously a day before all the larger vram models show up. Nvidia is fleecing an entire generation of computer enthusiasts on the regular. Manufacturered shortages, purposesly giving bad specs to 3rd party manufacturers, the list goes on and on.
I have a feeling that Nvidia is pushing a failed gpu as well. AND they are double dipping. Releasing cards early with defects AND a misery vram amount. After 6 months of selling shit cards, they going to come out with larger vram cards at 20% more cost and all the chumps who bought early are...
I'm 100% convinced that the 3080 is a ghost card. Regular consumers will never see this card on shelves. I predict Nvidia coming out with another series cards before they manufacturers come close to supplying demand.
Im just going to wait for 4080 while starting an annuity and bots for the 5080...
I fully expect not to see a 30x0 card for 5 to 6 months, but by then bot will buy up all the larger vram models.
I'd say 6 to 10 months before we see ANY 30x0 on physical shelves, and 100% it's going to be the low vram cards no one will want.
All this has basically soured my love for PC gaming. Companies are just soulless profiteering monsters. Selling my rig and just leaving all this behind me. The companies, the rabid fans, the profiteering, it's all about money now and not about games.
Answer is simple, don't buy nvidia. Fuck Jensen and his questionable profiteering business. That prick in a leather jacket has been busted multple times for shittty and questionable business practices. This is one of them.
Lies. Bots will take all these cards out within seconds. I fully suspect to not see a 30x0 card anywhere in stock for purchase until at least next year.
So far this is what I've done:
Updated bios from usb to 307
I've fresh installed the latest Windows version from MS from usb
I let it do it's automatic updates.
Got the drivers for Thunderbolt and ATK from Asus support
Updated Thunderbolt driver V126.2.52.250
Rebooted.
Ran Asus...
It's a non UEFI bios with text only.
Inaside it shows under Advanced:
Intel Thunderbolt
then
Intel Thunderbolt Configuration
Thunderbolt Host Chip Alpine Ridge
Security Level [Unique ID-One time save key-DP++ only]
Thats it.
Plugged in my eGPU that works on another machine (mac) and it's lights did not power up as they do on the Mac.
I checked the service, it was not running. Restarted the service and tried the eGPU. No joy.
This is such a hard problem, I've asked a few places and your the only person to offer any...
Cant seem to find my internal TB3 hardware.
Intel TB software shows no 'Controller Driver'.
Bios shows 'Alpine Ridge' and security options for plug in.
Cannot find in HWInfo.
Any help please?
Hey there. I'm trying to figure out how to enable or make Thundebrolt 3 working on this laptop.

I've occupied both M2 slots with an NVME drive and the system has a video card in it.
What should I be getting for the gfx card? 16x right? Or is the pcie lane shared with the m2 drives?
That means 2x 4 lanes = 8 then only 8 left for the primary card, correct?
Sweet, the 6th or 7th person on earth besides me that has a Taku!
That's funny, I ordered a C7 from OverclockersUK and I got a Noctua L9 coming in from Amazon as well. I'll be finding out here what one will be better next week.
So I built myself a fancy lil Taku itx machine. However it needs a crazy slim HSF or a Corsair H60 wedged inside (as seen in other builds). Max height is 48mm, or something a little bigger with a slim fan. You guys got any suggestions for a good slim HSF?
This is what I gathered after playing 5 for about 5-6 hours. The open world is a natural evolution of 3 and 4's. The forced mission stuff feels a lot like Far Cry 2, pretty heavy handed at times ala 'malaria pills'.
The story is a love it or hate it, I personally love shooting up crazy ass...
I noticed a few AAA titles are already heavily discounted. BFV, BLOPS and more are down to 30 dollar range. Could account for no super sales on Steam. That and they didnt have time to bust a nut from the gains on the Fall sale!
Dunno if anyone mentioned it yet:
Game is monolithic and not account bound. I was able to download and install, then move the Subnautica folder to a different drive. Then uninstalled Epic Launcher. Game still works just fine running the executable.
That's for people who don't want to deal...
UPDATE:
I love this spirited commentary on the positives and the negatives with actual information I need being the end result. The reson why I stay in the [H]ardforums!
This also had me rolling "What fucking lawnmower has 50hp and fits in a truck bed?!"
So this is what I have decided, the...
Need help deciding before the weekend!
Ok, so here is the set up :
AMD Ryzen 2200g
Corsair sfx 450 psu
1080p gaming
The cards:
MSI Armor 1060 3gb - mined on, slight discoloration behind gpu itself. Clean hsf.
Evga basic 970 4gb - never mined, only games, cherry condition.
The situation...
