My card is pretty quiet, quieter than my case fans. The fan doesn't is still and its idling at 30c, ofc my ambient here is kinda low atm. Time to shop for a block anyways...

    5950x high vcore at idle

There's nothing to worry about and you're assuming incorrectly about the voltage. I wrote and collected some data in this dead thread below. Check it out. https://hardforum.com/threads/how-can-i-get-the-most-out-of-my-3700x.1997903/

The thought did cross my mind lol. There's like 50 cards there, all same size. That's crazy if those were all 3090 FE's. 3090

AMD MoBo to support Dual 3090?

You can read this thread while you wait. But I don't know, you could be waiting a long ass time vs the time you could have billed out 50% more production in that same allotment of time. And for the record, you don't need Threadripper Pro's Epyc based backend, don't need massive memory for...

Enormous temps on Ryzen 5 3600

If he's got a water temp sensor he'd not be in this situation cuz the cpu temp can bounce around all it wants and the pump will only move on water temp. That's assuming it's set correctly with fans using water temp sensor. But yea disable icue after you set it.

Enormous temps on Ryzen 5 3600

You don't have to do any of that. What's happening is that Zen 2 reacts to context switches faster than any other cpu, in effect its power stages can react that quickly in 1ms. You're seeing your cpu react to said context switches. Thus if you don't wanna see that, you can set a delay in the...

Are we going to see good Intel processors anymore?

To be fair a lot of issues are from users who do no research and just assume things. Though I concur memory support could improve all around.
  16. thesmokingman

AMD MoBo to support Dual 3090?

That only is possible if you can get your hands on a Threadripper Pro cpu which isn't available on retail channels.

    Zen 3 Launch Availability

Grats man. My 5950x order from Walmart from last week got kicked to back order... now I'm scared for my 3090 order from the recent drop at BB will fall thru too.

Which kit would you choose? (4 stick vs 2 stick question, again)

Oh, it's not really about the quality of the memory. It's the imc that is the limit. On all systems, Intel or AMD, the higher the density, the harder it is on the imc. With 4x16gb, it's not worth it to buy 4000mhz memory because the imc may not even run at 3600mhz. And you have the number of...

Water cooling noob takes on ITX custom loop

The way the mcres works is that diagonal piece of acrylic splits the bubbles from the water. Horizontally mounted that splitter won't have as much effect and since its so narrow, you've got no gravity to pull bubbles out of the pump inlet. Looking at it again, I suggest moving the pump further...

    Slow Cinebench R20 on 5800x

Maybe, but that doesn't explain them sticking in their "Asus Performance Enhancement" oc feature which just ludicrously loosens the power draw limits. My 5800x managed a crazy 160w and change with perf enhancement with level 2 and level 3 of that setting. It rather ticked me off, their mucking...

    Slow Cinebench R20 on 5800x

^^Btw, there's some bug with asus boards and Ryzen 5k with regards to pbo limits when switched to motherboard. I call it a bug but who knows. Settings for ppt, etc are ignored so performance ends up regressing. I confirmed this for myself testing a 3900xt vs 5800x. On the 3900xt it follows the...

Is 10gb VRAM really enough for 1440p?

Hmm, i highly doubtt they are tightening their belts over this. It's more of a cash grab and playing consumers making them think that. Look at the 3090. It's like jedi mind trucks making ya think they are operating at tight margins since the 3090 is twice the price so that memory cost must be a...

Cannot get my 3200Mhz RAM to run at 3200

The spec for threadripper is 2667mhz at that density. However the imc on threadripper is really good so we can often get 3200mhz to 3400mhz. I'm running 8x16gb at 3400mhz myself.

Technically if there are no redrivers used in the cable then it shouldn't make a difference, putting aside electrical losses.
  29. thesmokingman

Is 10gb VRAM really enough for 1440p?

On these low vram cards you won't be able to take advantage of SAM either. It could be a decent loss of potential as support for SAM increases.

  31. thesmokingman

Are we going to see good Intel processors anymore?

Yeap, but again that's got nothing to do with performance. Intel still have a strangle hold on the state of things and none of which has anything to do with how good their chips are.
  32. thesmokingman

Is 10gb VRAM really enough for 1440p?

  34. thesmokingman

Are we going to see good Intel processors anymore?

Their server market share isn't based on performance metrics. They get annihilated on those metrics. Clearly there are many different reasons for their server position and most of which has nothing to do with performance, just saying.

Has anyone used Phanteks Enthoo Luxe 2?

Oh I run this case. I hated it at first because it has strict limits on radiator thickness. However, once you FIND the right radiators it is a pretty DAMN good case. However a lot of ppl design around this case ignoring the rad thickness limit and get into trouble. I chose the best 30mm rad made...

Is 10gb VRAM really enough for 1440p?

Yea, no... not even close. When AMD can produce a similar card with near double the vram for less. That's a tight margin without knowing the actual margins.
