Building a new house, two story with a basement. Here's my initial thoughts.
-RG6x2, CAT6x3 to each bedroom.
-RG6x3, CAT6x4 to living room and home theatre
-RG6x3, CAT6x6 to office (no need for a switch there)
-CAT6x4 to attic, with POE switch located in attic for security camera system...
I was googling XR382CQK part number, "UM.TX2AA.001-RB", and found the company COMPSOURCE.COM selling a refurbished (90-day warranty from Acer) one for only $815.14.
That's about $115 cheaper than anywhere I've seen this refurbished monitor for sale, and about $250 cheaper than lowest retail...
Today my father was put on hospice. The cancer has spread too much, and the pain is unbearable without medications like morphine. He can't sleep more than 2 hours at a time, and its getting too exhausting for him to walk anymore. Time is short and too many words still to be said to say goodbye...
Looking through my local online classifieds I find listings of GTX 680's, but usually for $500-$650 each...retail prices.
Its typical. People want the most for their used equipment, even if its outrageously priced. Haggling isn't even worth it most of the time. However, on rare moments you...

I could get it for $250 probably....but not sure the feasibility. LOL. I'm just thinking out loud, but this would be a very inexpensive chiller for overclocking a water-cooled setup.
I've hacked together four Nook Colors so far, for friends and family, and one for my little 4 year old for his Dr Seuss books (he's addicted).
A week ago there was an ebay firesale on refurbished Nook Colors for $59...which I should have bought dozens of them since now EVERYONE is asking me...
I officially got the nostalgia bug...and BAD.
Remember staying up late, forgoing homework, to try to get a DOS game to run? Autoexec.bat and config.sys editing, EMM386, QEMM, Smartdrv.exe, SB16 drivers, MSCDEX, etc.
If any of the terms above bring back memories (nightmares), you might just...
Story: A little over a year and a half ago I built a high-end workstation for a relative (extended family, you don't need the details).
EVGA x58 SLI
12GB DDR3
i7 920 3.6GHz
120GB SSD
H50
PC Power & Cooling 1000 watt PSU
This system was rock-solid for a week of my burn-in torture tests...
So I have one of those Sans Digitals 4-bay Raid Servers with a...yeah...Silicon Image SI3132.
Tonight I switched over to my HTPC to watch a movie with the wife, and when I went to pull up the list of movies the whole system froze. I rebooted, and the RAID array was offline. I couldn't...
So, I have a Corsair HX1000. Lately the fan has started to make a racket, so its dieing. I was going to just open it up and replace it with another 140mm fan...but, it still has warranty.
I called up Corsair. I get put on hold for 4 minutes...la-de-da....twiddle my thumbs.
They come back...
Offtopic, sort of.
So, I have this little project:
My wife and I have a newborn little baby boy. We bought a baby monitor setup, however, it REQUIRES the pressure plate, which the baby sleeps on, to be plugged in. I don't want this plate having to be plugged in all the time. The...
So my brother-in-law wants a case just like mine. He also wants to water cool his CPU and two GTX 480's in SLI. I'm making this build for him and I need some input.
I can either try DUAL 120x3mm radiators or one massive single 120x4mm radiator in the bottom of a Lian Li v2000B. With two...
2x i7 920 systems, running bigadv (~3.5Ghz or more)
2-3x GTX 260
1x 9600GSO
3x 8800GT
1x 9800GTX
PPD, ~75,000 or so I'd think.
If all goes well, in the next month or so I'll be adding 5 to 6 GTX 260's and another i7 920 system doing bigadv.
Fold on, fold on...
I couldn't find that this has been posted...
Google Desktop (ver5.9) now supports 64-bit Windows environments.
I've had this previously installed on Vista 64bit and there were quite a number of bugs (not indexing drives, not refreshing the index, using 99% of 1 cpu core, etc).
Now with...
If you had a spare PCI-E slot and someone sent you a free 8600GT or 8800GS card, would you fold for TEAM 33 with it?
Introducing The [C]HAIN [G]ANG.
OLD UPDATE, DISREGARD: After a week of diagnosing, exams, etc, my wife and I have decided to do a surgery on our little baby boy. He's diagnosed with Hirschsprung disease, which requires surgery. Our copay, after the insurance and medical deductible, is well over what we can afford, so I...
I posted in the "500" GPU thread a few GPUs i'm adding into the [H]orde.
This week I finally got the 8800GS and 8800GTS 512 folding. I still have an 8800GT 512, 8800GTS 320, and an 8600GTS to setup. Kinda difficult when my brother in law is 350 miles away.
I'm trying to keep "styx0r"...
I loved Rage3D forums, about 4 years ago. Now a day doesn't go by that I don't check out HardOCP/Hardforum.
So, as of today I'm switching FOLDING teams from #64 to #33.
I average about 1400PPD. Not superb, but not bad either. =)
I need help to record not just the sound, but the entire flash video from this site:
http://breeze.usu.edu/p17526617
I'm not sure where even to begin. They are using Adobe Acrobat Connect, which looks to play a SWF file, all within Adobe Flash.
Anyone?
About how much would someone be willing to purchase the CS3 Creative Master Suite?
I have the opportunity to purchase both the MAC and WIN version of CS3 for $500 total. This seems like an absolute STEAL since these retail close to $1500 each.
Anyone?
How much would you pay for this laptop?

Apologies if this has been posted, but I went shopping today online for new work clothes.
UPDATE: If you ordered early (Jan 29th-Feb2nd i think), some shirts may have been marked at $17.99 to $19.99. Give them a call, ask them to price match the current price of the shirts. They will refund...
Ok, can anyone suggest a way to slow down a MOLEX connected fan?
the 3-pin i can just fine with Zalman's fan controller or just one of those resistor wires. I haven't seen an adapter that will allow me to slow down a molex connected fan.
Anyone? thanks! :D
My current z5300's wired remote is starting to have problems. Since the power button doesn't work I have to short the circuit to turn the speakers on, the volume knob doesn't work half the time, and the headphone jack doesn't work. Logitech doesn't send out replacements parts for these...
I know this thread pops up every now and then, but most LAN games are 3-4 years old. I'm building two very fast computers for my brother in law (8800's, 2gb, 3.0GHZ C2d, etc) and he wants to play some very fun LAN games. Games that are Co-OP and have decent to very good graphics are preferred...
Has anyone seen or heard about any 802.11n bridges? I'm going to be streaming HD content to my TV soon, and I'll need a very fast wireless connection to do it.
thanks!

Dumb luck?
Buy multiple, keep the best?
Hunt for specific week at Frys?
Special hook up somewhere online?
I'm putting together a C2D system at the end of this month. Its my "finals are over, time to game" reward for myself as well as an upgrade for my graphic design business.
I...
Anyone experiencing the EVGA 680i A1 squealing from the motherboard?
I just wanted to know if anyone here has had this problem versus those on EVGA's forum post here:
http://evga.com/community/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=29490
I'm wanting to get an SLI C2D motherboard, and EVGA...
I think i'm going to jump into a C2D mobo and 4gb of RAM.
I have water cooling (Thermochill PA160) so overclocking is a given. I hope to get a e6600 to around 3.6-4GHz. So, anyone have any experience overclocking a C2D cpu with 4x1GB memory? I'm looking to get some Buffalo Firestix as...
yes yes, the C2D will be faster. I can't locate any benchmarks.
Here is my current system.
Opt165 @ 2.8GHz

How much would you be willing to pay for this system *prebuilt* ?
I priced it out conservately at around $1200 including WinXP Pro.
I'm looking to sell this system locally in a month or so, and need someone else's opinion on a FAIR price.
-Antec PlusView1000 AMG case w/window
-Antec...
Ok, i've read the FAQ's, the posts, the reviews....
Now i need some comments on this setup. I'll be upgrading at the end of September or October, or basically whenever ATI releases the r520. note that I'm planning on the ATI Crossfire setup...if reviews show that the r520 sucks arse, i'll...
Ok, so we have dual core CPU's out now. Gaming won't take much advantage out of them right now, but what about when the R600 (or whatever it is by then) comes out after the r520?
Right now I have a pretty good Athlon-M @ 2500Mhz, and a 6800 Ultra. I would have gotten a x800 XT PE at the time...
