    Doom Eternal

I didn't find the platforming sections too difficult, but was surprised by how many there were. I think my biggest complain about Doom 2016 was the repetition of its 'kill everything to proceed'-style arenas, which are still present in Eternal, but separated by the platforming sections. I...

    Doom Eternal

Finished the game last night; I really enjoyed it. Wasn't really feeling the 'limited ammo/chainsaw refill' gimmick at first, but by the later levels it came naturally enough. Probably my favourite thing about the game was the Lore drops, didn't think I'd enjoy them as much as I did, but...

    Doom Eternal

I read warnings about the Marauder and how different it is to fight versus the other demons, but damn, I was still surprised and died a few times until I learned its rhythm. Anybody try Doom 64 yet? (Playing it through Steam). Impressed by its atmosphere and how clean it looks compared to the...

    Doom Eternal

Enjoying it so far - thought there'd be more of an explanation at the beginning how you got from Doom 2016 to Eternal, but really, it's not that needed for this game. Really surprised by the amount of platforming and exploration - felt like I was playing Metroid Prime at times. Agreed with...

The Road to PS5 - Deep Dive into PlayStation 5's system architecture

Nothing too surprising or exciting - XSX really took the wind out of the PS5s sails spec-wise, but I do appreciate the use of more standard SSD than XSX's proprietary memory card (for its 'loaded' drive). Curious to see how close pricing will be, not sure if early generation software will show...

Digital Foundry: Xbox Series X Complete Specs + Ray Tracing/Gears 5/Back-Compat/Quick Resume Demo Showcase!

He's probably thinking of the Xbox 360 Core, that included only composite cables. The Premium had the component and sweet Chrome highlights included.

Incoming PS5 News Tomorrow at 9 AM PST

I dunno, MS' response to the RROD fiasco was pretty stellar. I can't remember the exact details, but remember getting a new console was a painless (and free) affair. Still, I had about three original 360 consoles and all of them would eventually RROD. The S revision worked flawlessly, though.

Incoming PS5 News Tomorrow at 9 AM PST

Looking forward to it - Cerny gives off major creeper vibes but I'm a nerd for new console hardware. I'm curious to see if Sony will go a more traditional design (rectangle VCR) or change it up a bit like the XSX. Spec-wise, I'm not expecting much difference - though I bet Sony will go for a...

Digital Foundry: Xbox Series X Complete Specs + Ray Tracing/Gears 5/Back-Compat/Quick Resume Demo Showcase!

I think it's going to be expensive (500 to 600), and I think they're going to really push 2 year Ultimate Game Pass subscriptions that include a Xbox Series X.

    Forthcoming Fractal Design SFF chassis...!?!

Looks alright - reminds me of the Xbox 360 S redesign (just really obese). I picked up a Ncase M1, itching to make the transition from ATX to ITX for my next build.

Digital Foundry: Xbox Series X Complete Specs + Ray Tracing/Gears 5/Back-Compat/Quick Resume Demo Showcase!

Yar, really impressed by its form factor as well. Truth be told, if MS did allow Windows 10 mode (with full KB+M support), I'd be hard pressed to build a dedicated gaming PC. All I need is steady 60fps with decent visual fidelity and snappy web browsing/forum posting. The 'game state...

    Xbox Live is down

Just finished Ori 2 and didn't notice any issues (playing it through Game Pass). Also, definitely check out the game if you haven't - excellent Metroidvania platformer.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake Demo is Brilliant

I'll be dusting off the ps4 to check out the demo, but will wait for PC if I do purchase. As for the original, it was one of my all time favorites. Yeah, gameplay wasnt as deep as ff 6, but the story (at the time) was great.

Sega Drops A Huge Hint About ‘Phantasy Star Online 2’ Open Beta Plans

I'll for sure check it out, was a huge fan of the original PSO (on my beloved Dreamcast). What makes this even better is that my town will have fiber optic by then; I've been mostly avoiding multiplayer games due to lag/slow rural internet.

New CG, Gameplay Trailers Released for Baldur's Gate 3; Will Only Release on PC

Finally found some time to watch it... and yeah, feeling pumped for it. Not planning on getting into Early Access, mind you. I'll play it when it's good and ready. I enjoyed Divinity, but never finished it. The humor of it was a little too much for me (in that it was too goofy). Judging by...

Tom's Hardware confirms it still has no credibility

Wasn't there some drama between [H] and Tom's at one point? Thought there was a story about Ol' Bennett throwing Tom into a garbage bin or something at a trade show in Vegas.

    Xbox series X

Yar, hard to take those numbers seriously when Vega64 has a decent TFLOPs lead over a 2080 Super. My theory is that MS is pushing the TFLOPs number because they heard through their contacts that Sony's PS5 TFLOP is lower. So, they're making their messaging target an area where they'll appear...

Radeon RX 5700 Series Thermal Issues Points To AMD and NOT AIB Partner Designs!

Yar, my bad. Not sure why I was thinking mounting pressure as well, but - yeah, my opinion is veering to this being an ASUS issue and not AMD now.

Radeon RX 5700 Series Thermal Issues Points To AMD and NOT AIB Partner Designs!

I dunno, I'm kinda on Asus side with this one. MSI and XFX had temperature issues that were improved with increased mounting pressure.

ZOTAC Gaming GeForce® RTX 2080 Ti AMP REFURB $809.99

I was ready to jump on it, but concerned about its 'refurbished' status. That video made me decide against it. I'd rather pay the extra money for a full warranty at that price.

ZOTAC Gaming GeForce® RTX 2080 Ti AMP REFURB $809.99

That's a solid deal, not much more than the price I paid for my MSI RTX 2080 Super trio.

Sega Pluto Prototype Hands On Review

Interesting, I don't remember hearing about a Pluto and I followed the console scene pretty closely back in the day. I seem to recall a planet-named prototype that was a Sega Genesis+32X hybrid, but not a Saturn MK3. I think its less with his gut and more his ample bosom. Dude should just...

    Xbox series X

Hopefully it won't bump the price of the unit too much (like Kinect did for the Xbox One). But, yeah, super cool that they're including a Lenovo Graphics dock with the package. Can't say that I'm terribly disappointed by the lack of HDMI input (only briefly used the feature and found it...

    Xbox series X

With the way MS has been beefing up their first party portfolio, I'm not too worried about a lack of exclusives in the future. As for the PC receiving first party titles the same day as Xbox, I can't see that as a bad thing. I've been hoping MS would start treating their PC gamers with the...

What was your least favorite graphics card?

It performed well enough for me (Resident Evil 2 @ 4k ran great for me), but it was the noise levels and regular crashes that irked me the most. I remember those fans drowning out SFX in Resident Evil 2, for example. The GPU itself looked and felt fantastic - loved the silver with the red...

    Destiny 2

I did not - it's currently sitting in my Steam download queue (paused) at 44.8 MB / 79.1 GB. Edit: Just to be clear, it wasn't because I heard anything particularly bad about the game (quite the contrary), it's due to living in a town with very slow internet - so I've stuck to single player...

Horizon: Zero Dawn coming to PC

Sony always seemed more like a 'remake it at a higher resolution for the next gen Playstation' than a 'release it on a more powerful hardware platform'-type of company to me.

The Original Star Wars IX Script Has Allegedly Leaked. And It's Much Better Than The Rise of Skywalk

I dunno, seems more plausible that his grandfather (who he worshiped) would have more pull with him than the father who abandoned him for years (to adventure with his wookie).

After Xbox 360 - Microsoft was originally planning to go all digital and ROMless right?

Yar, that's what I remember. Disc drive, always online DRM requirement, and no used game sales. Sony had a pretty successful parody video about it.
